Gran Turismo 4 has been recently released in Australia (it was released on the 10th... I got it on the 10th).

I haven't had much of a chance to play it yet, but so far it looks pretty good. I also still suck at it, (I suck at all GT games, but I still love them).

The amount of cars is absolutely amazing, and the detail in each one is superb. I am also really happy to see Holden in there -- there was a bit of an upset after Ford Tickford (Holden's competitor in our "V8 Supercar" thing here) was in GT3 but Holden wasn't. There must've been a bit of an uproar, because Holden is definitely in there now.

The tracks are all great, and I'm very happy to see the return of my personal favorite -- the High Speed Ring.

The graphics are no huge improvement over GT3, but there are tons of little refinements that look superb (like people actually moving and stuff like that).

As for the way the cars handle, I am not the person to ask this question. As mentioned, my driving sucks in all cars. I am a hopeless driver... I know **of** the correct racing line, I just never manage to actually **do** it.

Anybody else have this? I'm sure in the US and stuff it's already old news...

EDIT: Crap, it is old news, just found the other thread way down the page. (I thought I looked good before, must be blind as a bat) Nevermind, this can be deleted by the local moderator when they have a moment spare, please.

I've been sucked into reading the Harry Potter stuff.

Currently Reading

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
French Women Don't Get Fat
O'Reilly CSS Pocket Guide (okay, I don't so much *read* it, but I seem to be referencing it a lot lately)

On my "to read" list

Harry Potter and something... something... (Prisoner of Azkaban) ?

Well, you could try calling the phone company and asking them why, but they may or may not be able to disclose that information to you.

I would really really appreciate some kind of break. But we don't get "Spring Break" or anything like that.

I think I get the Easter Long Weekend.

Well, mine is fine. I used the decimal thing before. Worked well, but is one minute fast.

Can't be arsed decimalling out the minute.

Well, I got Gran Turismo 4 on the release date here in Australia.

One thing I was pleased to note is that Holden is in there under Australia (and not just their direct rival, Ford-Tickford.). This pissed off a lot of people when it wasn't there in GT3, so I wonder if the backlash caused Polyphony Digital to put Holden in there.

I'm absolutely amazed at the sheer amount of cars. I'm happy just going through all the cars that are in the game!

As for the gameplay itself, I still suck at Gran Turismo (always have, never stopped me liking it) but I am sooo, soo happy that they have bought back my favorite track -- The High Speed Ring.

Graphics look good, but I didn't think it was that much of an improvement over GT3 really. A couple of really well done small touches make all the difference, but I didn't notice any HUGE differences. Looks great. I love the fact that the people move, and little things like that.

All in all, happy with the purchase. And even though I never get as much out of the GT games as the "car people" do, I still enjoy them, while I bounce my car off the walls around the entire course.

Good thing I don't drive like that in real life -- I wouldn't have a car / be alive for long.

Trapster, no -- I will not get a week off.

I think I get a four day weekend for Easter, and that is it.

I am looking forward to it, four days off work.

Yes, PoA is the one after Chamber.

I, like, just finished reading all five currently-released HP books. Started reading them because of the Hogwarts story in the SF, and I must say I'm looking forward to Half-Blood Prince's release this July...

Other than that, I just got the colorized version of Bone: Out from Boneville. Pretty awesome.

Well, I got sucked in after friends kept discussing it... and I drew a piece of fanart for Uncle Elmo.

Finished Chamber of Secrets today. Now have nothing to read on bus. Will start reading Prisoner of Azkaban tonight.

Hmm... I thought I'd have a chance to post more this month. Funny how that never actually *happens* though.

Oh well. I have more important things to do, like... well, make my fat arse less fat. (I have been exercising and stuff lately)

Well, here's my work desktop. I warn you, this is a very large jpg (1600x1200).

My Work Desktop

The photo is a photo I took a few weeks ago.

There's not much on the desktop at all. I keep most of my icons in my Quick Launch Bar. Mostly boring work stuff there too.

This prompted me also to do a slight tidy up. Now I put EDSAS (that grey icon in my Start menu and my Quick Launch bar) in places that are easy to get to (seeing as how I *do* need to use it a lot, and also put VMware Workstation in my Quick Launch too for the same reason. Now when I need them, no more hunting!

Nice. I have a purpose built P1 somewhere for old DOS games, but I can't tell you the specs off the top of my head.

As for your threat about the computer eating my children, I do not have children.... but you can have my brother if you want.

I post my terminal in screenshots too, to show off the purty translucent colors. (Which're fun to play with!) When I post my OS X screenshot, I'll show you all my purty translucentness too.

Posted on 03-16-05 05:25 AM, in Sorry, you can't post in threads that don't exist... Link
I'm posting this, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only person experiencing this.

I am at work, and the connection here to Acmlm's board is HORRIBLY slow. I am not sure if this is a work problem, or something else.

However, when I post in a (legitimate) thread, I get the occasional response of "Sorry, you can't post in threads that don't exist..." (etc, etc)

I then go back and resubmit the post, and it works fine.

This has only been happening today (although the board slowdown I've noticed for a few weeks).

Is this happening to anybody else? Is this somehow caused by my slow connection here?

Just wondering if somebody had an idea what is going on.
