I tend to live in the past a little too much too. I think it's that it's easy to paint the past in rose tinted glasses though... because if I try to think about things rationally, they WEREN'T all that wonderful all the time really.

Kasumi mentioned the Citadel... if I think back, yeah I think things were good, but I think that I -- and a good deal of others -- have made it out to be a bit *too* good in our memories. It's easier to remember things that way. Even bad stuff in the past doesn't seem as bad as bad stuff happening in your present -- or your future.

Eh, but I'm trying to live in the present. I don't think it can live up to the rose-tinted memories of my past, but that's my own damned fault for making the past out to be so special.

Well, a lot of series are generally a little better in their unedited, Japanese format, if it even is as little a thing as better voice acting and translation

However, I find it hard to believe that Dragonball Z could be significantly better because of it.

As for what got me into anime, I used to like a bit of Sailor Moon and stuff, but I wasn't a huge fan. Neon Genesis Evangelion is what got me into anime.

Back..... up?

I understand the importance of backing up some of my data, and I do make sure I keep a backup of the stuff that's **really** important, but in general the vast majority of my hard drive(s) are not backed up and will not be backed up. In fact, if I lose things -- HOORAY -- I probably needed a fucken' clean up anyways.

I keep too much crap, and I have a hard time cleaning things out. Mass deletion of data would actually probably be a GOOD thing for me. The things I *really* need are backed up somewhere. The rest is crap that I horde for no good reason.

I really really really dislike Event Horizon. It's just.... so stupid. Not one original minute in the thing, and it takes itself too seriously for what it is too.

At least crap like Starship Troopers is so hilariously bad I can get a laugh from the bad acting and slapstick violence....

Crap, I think I fall into that last category. I do nothing but work; housework, cooking and dishes.... job applications, rent things, etc. I get precious little time to play games, draw, do the stuff I LIKE.

I'm old.

*sulks*

Planning? I can't plan my way out of a wet paper bag.

Anyways, in all seriousness, while my life allows significantly less room for recreation / friends / etc, it's not all bad.

I have a place of my own, and things of my own. I can pretty well do what I want to do, but I am bound largely by responsibility. But it's WAY better than being TOLD what to do. But it is a little disappointing not to have much time to do the things I'd really like to do, too.

Er.... I think there's not much you can do.... in fact, it sounds like you've done all the things I'd suggest, already.

You could always try drivers, but as far as I recall, the "drivers" for those mice were more like.. .fancy add-ons, and not needed.

I don't take any classes, but I used to like art classes and computing classes, even if I didn't learn much in Computing.... except for a little HTML, which was fun. (this was 8 years ago, btw...) I made a web page about the X Files....

On the subject of computing curriculum -- you got to learn more programming than I did, and it looks like a lot of people in this thread did too.

HTML was the only thing even *close* to a programming language (and it's not a programming language) that they taught at my school -- and they don't even teach that much now.

I don't know if it's something with schools here, but we just don't teach programming at a high school level.

We did get to learn Word, Excel, Access... And yeah, there were plenty of teachers who act like they know everything, but don't..... I know for a fact that many of the students know far more than most of the teachers -- I think the curriculum is limited for the TEACHERS benefit, not for the STUDENTS benefit...

Posted on 01-26-05 07:39 AM, in Breakdancer sketch Link
Alias Sketchbook is a pretty good little program for sketching and stuff. Personally, I'd prefer to use it for sketching over Photoshop any day, just because it's more suited to sketching.

It is also used by Gabe of Penny Arcade a lot.....

As for the hips, something does look off there.... maybe it's that the waist doesn't go in all that much either, perhaps? At any rate, the width of the hips should be wider than that of the shoulders. But it's not exactly an easy pose to show that very well in.

What I'd like to see is somehow if you could give more of an impression of movement. I only know that she's a breakdancer because you've said so... otherwise it could just as well be somebody doing a handstand with legs apart. Movement is not an easy thing to draw though, but if you could get a sense of movement into the drawing, it'd be more obvious that she's not just doing a stationary handstand.

As for sketching programs, I recommend you try Open Canvas, which I prefer over Alias Sketchbook, and which is easier to use than Painter. Although Painter is just awesome and sooo fun to use.

I beg to differ on the "you don't need an optical mouse" thing. It can depend what you do.

I do art on occasion with my mouse, and I find it damned near impossible to use a ball mouse cause I have to clean them out 3 + times during a piece of art work...

As for the IntelliMouse mice, I have one, and mine's jumpy. I think it's that my desk is too reflective though, because it stops jumping when I put a writing pad underneath it....

And yes, Logitech make good mice too. Comparable to the Microsoft ones, if not better, and more reasonably priced.

I enjoy pancakes, but I'm also wary of them now. I used to absolutely love pancakes.

Then I went to a place we have here called "The Pancake Kitchen". This place is open 24 hours. I used to go there a bit, and I used to think it was a good place.

Until I had "It". "It" (as it was actually called on the menu) was pancakes with caramelised banana, caramel, ice cream and pecan nuts on the top of it. It tasted awesome.....

"It" gave me food poisoning.

I was sick for a week, I couldn't eat, I could barely get fluids down. I wound up in hospital on an IV.

Now I will only eat pancakes with maple syrup and whipped butter. And the mere thought of any other pancake makes my stomach do flips. The mere thought of caramel and banana together also makes me feel ill.

Um.... no. No idea at all, but I can only imagine that any tree of most people's folders, all laid out, would be horrible to try to work with anyways. (you do realise how many subfolders parts of Windows creates, right?)

You can always go to the Properties of a folder to see how much space each one is taking.

At any rate, Windows Explorer displays the tree, you want it though with all subfolders opened/visible and all space clearly marked? That i can't help with

Well, I can't think of anything, and chances are if you do get this raw data out of the machine, is it going to be in a format that you are going to be able to work through at any fast pace?? Anything that does what you describe is going to spit out huge, quite awkward amounts of data.

You're probably better to just use Windows Explorer. It will show you things in tree form, and you can always go to Properties, like I said. Besides, you will know better than any program what roughly you are looking for...

So, you just dislike the teacher then?

Or do you actually dislike the class / subject matter / what you do in the class?

There's a difference.

I like French, but I had a French Teacher that I hated. She gave us senseless busywork to do all term, and I couldn't be bothered doing it. But I still enjoyed French
