I like your WindowBlinds skin. And you've just reminded me, I really should get ShapeShifter working on my mac again. I miss 'Chocolate Milk'. I'm sick of default Aqua!

He has a point about posting in the Hardware/Software forum, but I disagree with his last comment about the people here being unqualified... some qualified people post in this forum. You're just much more likely to find qualified people in the Hardware/Software forum

Course, I wouldn't go post another thread about it, it might be better to send a private message to an admin or moderator and ask them nicely if they can move the thread.

And it might also benefit those that are trying to help if you can give as much information as possible about your computer, specifically the operating system you are running (Windows, I presume? Which version, and if it's XP, do you have Service Pack 2?), the type of motherboard you have (that will help us find out which BIOS you have), and the type of video card you have. Otherwise, unfortunately even the most qualified person can only give "cookie cutter answers" (guessing) like Legion described.

I'm glad you solved it. I don't know why a reformat changed it, to tell the truth.

Hmm... you know, if you had another monitor, you probably could set up dual monitors...

LOL... yes. Yes they are.

I don't know how many times a day I have to give obvious, cookie-cutter answers to clients over the phone. Sometimes I can't believe how much trouble the clients have with those answers either... In fact, sometimes I can't believe how much trouble clients have with the Start Menu.

Ahh, I miss my Gnome..... (not a huge fan of KDE). I'd take a screenie of all three of my OSes, to show you my Fedora/Gnome but I can't be arsed.

That would mean I have to get up and go to my desktop computer

Oh, and I updated the screenie of my Mac, btw... to show my Milk. And my terminal that says "Chii" cause I was bored one day....

HellSaviour -- I was wondering that myself.... the only way it could've happened is if Windows was set to ignore the onboard video in the original install.

Oh well... But yeah HellSaviour's right -- the BIOS doesn't save anything to the hard drive. It wouldn't matter what you do to the hard drive....

Well, it's 7.40 pm in Adelaide, Australia on New Year's Eve.

I am about to go get myself what will be the first of many New Years Beers..... Hopefully I behave myself...

Oh and for the record, Trapster -- the first time I was drunk, I did not barf. I had to mix alcohol and drugs in order to barf. (Now though, Green Chartreuse can do it instantaneously.... even the smell of it makes me gag)

The only benefits that the removal of non posters has is perhaps making the memberlist a little easier to navigate when looking for somebody specific. It also gives a slightly more accurate representation of how many members the board has...

The space saved by removing non posters is negligible. Still, when I ran a board, I used to do it every now and then.

I definitely have more than enough alcohol to get me drunk, and then some

I got some Baileys, and then I remembered I still have beer in the fridge and two bottles of red wine

But I'm sticking to beer for now.

LOL... "boggle". (don't ask me why, but I find that word funny. Along with 'toggle')

Eh, some of the Metal Gear References were kinda silly. Other than that, I really don't get it. I was hoping to see 1,000 needles....

Not much. I find "boggle" funny when I'm sober. And toggle.

Another one...

There seems to be a new phpBB worm going around.

We don't have all the details yet, but this one seems to be using search engines to find vulnerable discussion forum sites and infects them via the phpBB highlight vulnerability. Then the worm tries to patch the system so Santy variants won't be able to infect it any more.

Finally, the worm drops a file called secure.php which contains this text and continues spreading further.

(picture in the article)

This is not a beneficial worm. We have no idea how safe the patch the worm applies really is. We also have reports from phpBB administrators whose site is perfectly safe already to be under a denial-of-service attack caused by multiple requests created by this worm.

Well, it could be the DVD itself.... if you're renting, it's highly likely.

Do the DVDs work in other DVD media? (PlayStation 2, DVD-ROM drive?) Does the problem occur with non-rented DVD's that you know are in good condition....?

If you narrow it down to your unit, well... get it serviced.

Posted on 12-31-04 06:05 PM, in OK, I know IE sucks but gimmie a break. Link
There's been a trend for a while where Microsoft have been dumping it's backwards compatability as far as development tools go... I don't know if that is what is happening with Visual Studio or not though.

As for IE, do you have XP Service Pack 2? You might need to try to drop down Internet Security settings...? Not sure. Need more info, I guess.

Oh, and yeah, I know why you need IE... a bunch of the Windows API depends upon it. (Amongst other weird, esoteric sections of windows)

Posted on 01-01-05 06:28 AM, in Yet another vulnerability in IE Link
I heard about this on Slashdot last night, before I went to bed. There are also a bunch of other new vulnerabities found that are unpatched, some affecting SP2...

There's a LoadImage API vulnerability, that affects BMP, ICO, CUR, ANI files...

There's also an ANI vulnerability that causes system crashes....

And two Help File overflow vulnerabilities, the one mentioned in this thread uses a number of IE vulnerabilities to get past the Local Zone protections and run... well, in this case, a Trojan called Phel, so far.

Your best bet at the moment is to use a browser that isn't IE. Firefox, Opera, whatever, just not IE or IE based.

Well, I've heard of and used at least two other browsers that aren't IE and aren't Firefox.

Mozilla, and Opera.

Oh, three... Netscape... although all they do at the moment is use Mozilla code.
