Yeah, the capitalisation of infraEnterprise is weird, but I know that it's meant to be that way... I stare at the bloody program all day every day.

If you think that's fucked up, you should see my big fat list of supported software, and all the spellings there!! "Dtex SystemSkan Enterprise Edition"

Well, after angsting for a while, I finally just got some DVD's for family. I got The Castle for my mother, which she'd been looking for for some time. And I got her some fancy chocolate.

I got my brother some fancy chocolate and some penguin mints.

And I got my partner the Happy Tree Friends DVD and some fancy chocolate.

Nothing that put me into debt, but still it took me forever to come up with what to get. It isn't much and it isn't for many people, but that's okay...

And guys, this thread was about what you were going to get people for Xmas, not what you received...

When I was a child, in the late eighties and the early nineties, I used to use cheat and debug codes in games that I was too clumsy (or scared of otherwise, like Wolfenstein) to play without any help.

Now, I don't cheat.... I do tend to reference walkthroughs if I'm really stuck (I've had to do that with Kingdom Hearts recently, which I've already played through once, but I got to a section where I just couldn't remember for the life of me what I was supposed to do....).

I also reference walkthroughs with games that I *just want to get through, dammit* (ie, I'm not enjoying the game, but I feel compelled to finish it)

I would never cheat in a multiplayer game.

I have been known to edit/screw around with games. But that wasn't for cheating purposes, that was for personal amusement. Like when I created Tesla Dogs in Red Alert 2, just so I could have dogs running around that zap things. *woof -- zzzap!* *insane giggles* They were fun, but quite powerful.... so I take that modification off if I want to play a proper game, otherwise the challenge is diminished (and thefore the fun).

My PS2 is getting read errors too at the moment. It refuses completely to read one of my games, and I can't tell if that's the game itself or the PS2 anymore.

Most the time it's reliable, but when it's going through an unreliable patch, it's VERY unreliable.

I'll have to replace mine too sometime. It's done good though to survive for 2 years.

Eh, the first time I saw the movie, I didn't think it was good, but I didn't think it was that bad. However on a later viewing of the movie, I couldn't stand to watch more than ten minutes of it.

Admittedly, the first time I watched it, I'd been drinking.

Oh, and I forgot -- I also read bits of walkthroughs to Ben when he plays games like Silent Hill.... he doesn't have much time to play games, so he finds it helpful if I can walk him through all the weird puzzles so he can get back to killing monsters.

Plus, it's the closest I'll get to playing those games, they scare me. I'm quite happy to sit there with a laptop on my lap and tell him how to solve the puzzle.

I format-reinstall when I need to format-reinstall. Which isn't often. And even when the system borks itself, I will only install if I really HAVE to.

Ghosting is MUCH faster and less painful

I used to call my approach "laziness" but I've decided to paint it in a more positive light and call it "efficiency"

My partner used to put chilli and/or cayenne pepper on everything. After a while, I got used to spicy food. But my tolerance is still moderate... I don't go out of my way to eat a chilli.... wheras my partner quite happily will.

But then, I think a lot of the appeal of hot food is well.... masochism. You people like hurting yourselves.

Of course, the higher your tolerance to hot food, the higher your pain threshold is too....

I've retried the peas.

Some of them are good, but the one I tried before (and decided I didn't like) was a very very very wasabi one... and very very hot...

The medium-coated ones are ok.

Okay, you're running XP, it's easy to change the drive lettering.

Right mouse click on "My Computer" on the Desktop. Go to Manage. On the Left hand side of the window that comes up, click "Disk Management". Right mouse click on the drives you want to reletter.. and "Change Drive Letter and Paths".

If you want to merge partitions, Partition Magic will allow you to do it.

Not sure about the boot one, mine does that too on a fresh install with no partitions... weird

I like black pepper.

The hottest thing I remember was some kind of seasoning my partner had (can't remember the name of it now). It was a paste of some sort, and this stuff was so hot it cleared the nasal passages and made you sweat just *smelling* it.

My partner likes hot things, but he used that very very sparingly.

I like the wasabi peas, provided they don't have too much wasabi on them. They're still warm, but the first one I had wasn't so much *heat* that I felt -- it felt more like somebody had dropped pure acid onto my tongue.

Well, if Windows isn't letting you change the letters well... the only other thing I can suggest is a utility that comes with Partition Magic that allows you to switch around drive letters and stuff. I can't remember what it's called though, but it usually works.... I'm sure there are also others, but I know that one is bundled with Partition Magic.

Er, as for the Quick Launch thing, I don't know how the hex you got it to use 32x32

Partition Magic's drive manager will go through and check all the drive mappings and references and fix those too on the first boot with the new drives.

I don't know if you can change the drive the OS is on with it or not though...

Riight. Moving along...

If it was working before a reformat, the problem isn't in your BIOS, and changing your BIOS is likely to do absolutely nothing.

You need to fix the problem in Windows. Try downloading the latest video drivers from the video card manufacturer's website.

And if you need a thread moved, next time send a PM to an administrator or moderator, perhaps.

It takes a while to change the references, but yeah, last I did it I had no problems at all.... course, I went and watched TV while it was actually *doing* it though, cause it took a while. Eh, it's at least something to look into. But like I said, I don't know if you can change the drive the OS is on with it or not though....

OTHERWISE, I HAVE NO REAL PROBLEM WITH IT.

COURSE, IF YOU START DOING THIS: !!!!! AT THE END OF EACH SENTENCE!!!!!!!! (AND IN THE MIDDLE TOO!!!!!!!!) I START TO GET MILDLY IRRITATED!!!!!!!!!!111

Well, you didn't explain that you have onboard video and video card video in your description.

Now that you have, then yes, you DO need to look at your BIOS.

You need to disable the onboard video in your BIOS. However, I'm not willing to walk you through how to do that. I don't even know what kind of BIOS you have... is it an AwardBIOS? An AMIBIOS? Phoenix BIOS?

BIOS'es differ, and their wording of certain things differ too.... it's not something I'm willing to walk through on the internet as I don't know what you have.
