Posted on 12-10-04 05:28 PM, in RAGE (and music videos in general) Link
In Australia, we have something called "Rage" on our ABC after a certain time. It's sort of the indication that you're just up too late, as it starts at usually nearly 12am.... and goes all night.

Mostly they just play music videos. They sometimes have guest presenters (often bands) in presenting and choosing the videos to be played, but.. other than that, it's videos.

Does anybody here watch RAGE? (obviously, aussies only..)

Anybody enjoy watching music videos?

I like RAGE, but then the music is usually quirky and not your usual top 40 stuff. At the moment, there's a Flaming Lips thing on with Spongebob that is weirding me out (and pirates, arr), but they usually show a lot of Aussie stuff too that you don't see on any of the other music video shows.

Anybody like this stuff?

(EDIT: OMFG, Nick Cave and BUNNIES. WTF is the world coming to when a Murder Ballad singer has animated Bunnies in his music video??)

Wow, looking at my posts, I can't have been drunk enough last night.

I didn't have a hangover today, btw. In fact, I'm having a few quiet beers again (after all the hard work I've done today sweeping the yard)

And cheers again for the b'day wishes

Ah, everybody's already explained.

RAID is very cool, but it's pretty much only for Servers or Mission Critical things.

I've had RAID stuff before, but never in a personal PC.

I've been reading Bleedman's stuff for a while. It's very very well done, he has an excellent art style and sense of narrative.

His stuff is also on Deviantart....

Yes, I have -- and on occasion do -- smoke pot.

I used to do it a lot when I was a teen, but now I only pretty much do it when I'm in pain, and over the counter medication doesn't help. It's a very good pain reliever...

My brother smokes pot entirely too much. He smokes several times a day. Generally, I have little problem with people smoking pot if they want -- but I am a strong believer in moderation. It's not good when you need pot to get through the day, every day.

I'd probably smoke pot maybe once every three months at most.... I certainly don't do it very often at all.

My boyfriend exclaims strange things in his sleep.

He's yelled at me not to warranty some hardware before. In his sleep. And when I went "huh?" he woke and went "what?"

He sat up in bed one night and just shouted "Not now, maybe later" once.

He talks about connections and hardware and stuff too.

Eh, as for tiredness, I feel like crap, I pulled an all nighter on the weekend, and have underslept the rest of this week so far.... ugh

Why on "this board" ?

People act like arses everywhere.

Eh, and I wouldn't worry about people not liking you. There are always going to be people that don't like you. The best you can hope is that they have the self-restraint not to be arseholes about it.

Fruits Basket.

That's my current favorite. It's like the anime (if you've seen it) early, but the series is a lot darker and goes beyond what is shown in the series.

Posted on 12-14-04 04:11 PM, in Remote Admin software Link
At work, I use a combination of VNC, Timbuktu, and Remote Desktop, depending on the situation (I use Remote Desktop to administer school servers, and either Timbuktu or VNC for other school questions).

When I worked in a school, I used to use SystemSkan, but that's a large scale enterprise piece of software -- VERY cool, gives you varying tools that have varying control over all the computers in your network (instead of Remote Control, for example, you can use the Remote Task Manager to close an application... amongst other things). Of course, that's expensive, and does a lot of extra stuff (like log activity on each machine, etc) as well.

Damn though, I would love to have department wide SystemSkan. It'd be so much easier from a Help Desk perspective to be able to transmit my screen to a user to show them something, or to gain instant VNC without having to fuck with IP's, or to close the misbehaving application without having to get a computer illiterate user to Ctrl + Alt + Delete..... *sigh*

Posted on 12-15-04 05:29 AM, in Banned from the Internet. Link
There is a topic on Slashdot at the moment that's made me giggle.

Courts have been known to ban people from the internet. The first person to be banned was a guy named Chris Lamprecht, who was banned in 1995.

Of course, the 'internet' now includes a lot of things (with voice over IP, some phone calls use the Internet) even... Frankly, I don't think it's really enforceable anyways...

But I want to know, if you were banned from the Internet... what would you go instead with your time?

I'd uh.... draw more and maybe procrastinate less... omg.

EDIT: What the fuck happened to the thread? Xkeeper, behave yourself, or I'll ban you from the Internet!
