I haven't tested my current connection really, but I know that my connection is 5 megabit. Which is plenty for what I do with it, and not bad for FREE.

I really should find something to download sometime. I should get the rest of the Fedora ISO's so I can fix my stupid Fedora....well, rather just fix lilo.

Well, you did mention one thing in the whining I agree with... the images at the bottom of the board could use some fixing.

Maybe standardising the button sizes as much as possible would be good At the moment they're all different sizes, it'd look better if they were a little more standard (88x31). Maybe we could even have a competition to design some new ones for some of the stuff

And no, I'm not trying to push Firefox down your throat, but I do love it, just like I used to love Opera a long time ago. I used to rant about that too... it's a pity I haven't liked their recent releases, but I guess I found Firefox to fill my needs instead.

Yeah, well, I'd feel pretty shitty if I had a job now, but when I'm 80, we have to live in glass bubbles, and my great grandkids only know what the world was like from having read picturebooks...

Firefox IS alright, and yes, you're right it's not God.

But come to think of it, how is supporting Firefox any different from supporting your favorite Football Team (aside from the geekiness factor, of course) ??

I would like to see more people using it. I'd like to see big, BIG support for an Open Source project, and Firefox IS a very good Open Source Project and extremely polished.

I would like to see this, and other alternate browsers, scaring Microsoft. I'd like to see it scaring them enough to take better care of their customers... (although I expect they'll use FUD instead of listening to their clients...)

And I'd like to see more pages designed for Mozila/Firefox/Opera/Konqueror, etc, so that we can try to get away from this "IE ONLY" thing, and have actual STANDARD HTML.

Firefox has the potential to change the web, for the better, for all of us regardless of browser. I'd like to see it happen.

So nyeh.

Just to clarify on the "designing FOR Firefox/Mozilla/Konqueror/Safari" thing, I didn't actually mean SPECIFICALLY FOR, I just meant more in the sense of "not catering to proprietary IE code that no other browser supports.

Just because the majority of Windows users use IE, doesn't mean that all the Linux, Solaris, OS/2, OS X, Mac Classic, Unix, whatever users can or do.... yet those users get cut out of a large proportion of the web due to nonstandard IE code.

That's more what I meant. I don't design specifically for any particular browser. I test primarily in Firefox, but if I'm doing something properly, I test in IE, Firefox, Opera and Safari And hope that it doesn't break in IE

Just to trying to clarify.

And yes, I know that not everybody likes the alternative browsers. And that's okay, cause I get to charge those people for "PC repairs" frequently (yes, people still are willing to pay me to sit around and run ad-aware.) Source of Additional Income = Good.

I've seen 300kbps downloads before, they were fun. The thing is, a lot of sites throttle their bandwidth/packet shape downloads down to 30kbps.

Microsoft isn't one of them though, and it's fun downloading some things from Microsoft as a result.

I like my connection. It's MINE, while shared with my roommates, I'M the one that does the bandwidth rapeage anyways. Plus, it's free, and there are no wires

I use Miranda too. It is just very small, very usable, and does all I need -- lets me talk to people via IM.

I like Trillian, I really do. But when IM'ing at work, I need a client that is very small and just does IM, not my mail, not my laundry, nothing else.

Yeah, that's a really good point -- that Jobs can be made, but the Environment cannot. Sure, we can plant trees, and that will HELP, but in general, the environment is irreplacable and something that can't be made by our hands.

We don't even know our effect upon the Environment, but I'd figure when it's shown that something we are doing or making is doing bad things, that.... maybe some people would work out that we should stop doing that.

Well, I like Rock, but generally not Metal. I don't find Metal to be particularly melodic, and I tend to like a good melody.

I like a lot of Rock and Alternative, Punk and Ska, and a few things that are Pop. I don't like ALL Pop (ie, Britney Spears) but there is a lot of music that could be classified as Pop (ie, Ben Folds) that I absolutely adore. Ben Folds writes gorgeous pop songs.

I like a little Dance, and some electronica.

I like a lot of quirky songs. Offbeat stuff. I am the only person I know that loves Spiderbait's "Glockenpop".

Eh, I actually don't mind Horatio Caine. But they clearly try to make him "cool". A lot of lines feel like they are designed to be sound bites in the ads that preceed the show. He's portrayed very dramatically.

I don't like the blonde in CSI Miami though. At all. Horatio's frequent overdramaticism annoys me far less than the blonde.

In High School, I was a grungie. Some Grunge is quite melodic.

Still, I haven't been into "heavier" music in a while. I guess I no longer need music that helps me "get my angries out". And I have to admit, Grunge helped with that. It also helped me be a depressed teenager.

If you like NWA and you are not easily offended, download some NWH. Funny stuff. And you'll learn stuff too. Like that a Butt is like Society. And now White Man has oppressed the Black Man by making them work in the sun without a Hat...

You should enjoy it.

Yeah, most places give you the runaround. It's partly that they assume you're one of the unwashed masses, and partly that they don't like to admit that something's gone awry.

I was just wondering.

I like when they tell you that a hardware device or software process may or may not have failed and it may or may not be impacting upon the packet loss you may or may not be experiencing....

I like a lot of "odd" songs. The kind that are "weird" or "offensive" some of which are sexually themed, some just plain stupid, and others that are a "headfuck". In general, if I were to give them all a category, I'd call them "fucked up songs".

I can't be the only one that likes kinky, weird and oddball stuff, so I was wondering, what were your favorite "fucked up songs" ?

A lot of Regurgiator's stuff falls in this category. A lot of it is just plain weird, quite a lot is sexually themed (even the innocent sounding "Polyester Girl" is disturbing once you listen to the lyrics). As far as musical style goes, they can be quite hard to classify too.

Machine Gun Fellatio (not surprisingly, with that name) falls into that category too. Again, musical style is hard to really pigeonhole into a genre, and their songs are quite weird, and very sexually themed in places.

The Avalanches' "Frontier Psychiatrist" is fucked up, again musically hard to classify, and... frankly does a lot of people's heads in.

I can think of plenty more, but there's three groups, (All Aussies funnily enough) that make fucked up weird stuff that I like. They tend to be higher in the "fucked up" scale than some of the other groups I like...

What's your favorite weird stuff?

Okay okay, so I forgot the capitals, I mean KB per second (nitpick my lack of capitalisation willya -- you're lucky I can even type legibly at ALL at the moment with my wrist in a splint. *shitty cause the physio's been inflicting pain again*)

I'll clarify my connection.

I am connected to a wireless network. My link to the Wireless Network goes over just slightly above 15km direct line of sight across the City of Adelaide. There is a small high gain directional antenna on my roof that facilitates this link.

Inside my house, there is a small and crappy omnidirectional antenna that then spreads this connection about so I can sit in bed in my pyjamas and write crap like this, telling other people what my home network is like.

The Internet connection for this Wireless Network is not DSL, it's Fiber Optic, and my share of the Fiber is @ 5000 kbps. It, and the wired stuff in the server room, are pretty much the only wires (excluding the short one connecting roof antenna with house antenna). And as stated, they're over 15 kilometres away from my house.

Look ma, no wires!

My favorite part is that it's free, and I don't have to do jack for the free internetness to keep happening

It's also funny telling non-geeks that my Internet Connection just comes out of "thin air"
