I've seen this one before... actually, there's a lot of these style animations floating about, but this is one of the ones that is really popular now.

I admit, the guy does have talent... and patience o.o

I try to find out even just the day, but he won't tell me. He just says "he doesn't know" and "it'l get done when it gets done" and that he's "too busy".

I have to do shopping today, and I'm too worried that if I leave the house, he'll arrive and I won't be here. There's no food in the house, but.... Although admittedly, he's more likely to arrive at some time like three in the morning.

Okay, there's definitely something going on with the cereal.

I could never have put the cereal in the fridge if I tried, but I have put the milk in the pantry before.

I've poured water into my cereal too.

I've brushed my teeth with no toothpaste, cause I forgot to put the stuff on the brush.

I go to the shop to buy ONE item, and I come back with everything in the world, but that one item....

Ai Yori Aoshi is one that I'm not interested in watching. It starts out incredibly cute and Shojo, and then goes even more perverse and shounen than Love Hina....

And yes, Love Hina is Shounen. It won the shonen award the same year that Fruits Basket won the shojo one

Hey, Elmo. You missed out Migraine headaches.

Some people also get withdrawal headaches as well.... I get then when I forget to take my Zoloft... some people get them if they forget to have their coffee.

Incidentally, Caffeine is used medicinally in the relief of migraine headaches, as it enhances the response to simple pain relievers.

I'm bored... and going through my big ole book of drugs. I dunno about anybody else, but for some reason I find things like human biology and the effects of drugs and such really interesting.

Here are some fun facts I've read:

Caffeine is used medicinally to help with migraine headaches, and it also enhances the effect of simple painkillers like asprin or paracetamol. It is also used with premature babies to stimulate breathing.

Gold can be used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It appears to inhibit action of inflammatory cells around joints. Gold also impairs the growth of tuberculosis bacteria.

Men that smoke cannabis regularly produce less testosterone, have lower sperm counts and are liable to develop larger breasts. Women who smoke regularly may fail to release an egg from the ovary each month.

LSD stands for "Lysergic Acid Diethylamide". It works by acting on a receptor in the brain that needs seratonin to work. These cells reduce the amount of sensory information transferred to the conscious mind. LSD turns those cells off, so that large amounts of sensory information are transferred to the conscious mind. Weeee....

I am so bored. Any drugs anybody wants to know anything about? Medications you're on... illicit stuff.. I'll see if I can find it in my book

Which Antidepressants, might I ask?

I am on SSRI (Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor) type antidepressants -- a new, and relatively safe variety. They attempt to prolong the effects of the brain chemical Seratonin by preventing it from being reabsorbed by the cells which transmitted it. As a result, there is an increased amount of seratonin, which is meant to improve mood.

Specifically I am on Zoloft, the drug name of which is "Sertraline"

Nick: there are no interactions between Caffeine and Alcohol. Caffeine does not abolish the effects of alcohol. (Although in my personal experience, it just creates a hyper drunk that's more likely to hurt themselves running around like a darned idiot)

Abnormal Freak: Paxil's chemical name is "paroxetine" and it is also an SSRI type drug, like the one I take. It's effects are similar to that of Prozac and Zoloft, and it has the same action and side effects.

Merc: NyQuil is something we dont' get in Australia, but I am aware that it contains an antihistamine, which would have the effect of making you drowsy. It also contains a quantity of alcohol, although that too should have the effect of making you drowsy a little as well... . It also contains some psudoephedrine, which is similar in effect to adrenaline, which may explain the hyperactivity.

mrmenz -- Lamictal (lamotrigine) is used for treatment of epilepsy and also bipolar disorder. However, most people get dizzy, drowsy and headachey when they overdose, not... happy and licking the railing

What are we back at the times when people had "white only" eating places and such, only this time it's "straight only" counties?

Ahh, I SOOOO hate my mother's computer! Hate hate hate hate hate.

Anyways, moving along. Over the past week of using my mother's computer, there have been a few Blue Screens of Death. And they are starting to get on my nerves.

So you guys know the basics:

Windows 2000 Professional, SP4
Pentium III 450
Norton Antivirus 2003

The error:

*** STOP: 0x0000000A (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
*** Address 80462733 base at 80400000, DateStamp 3ee6c002 -- ntoskrnl.exe
Beginning dump of physical memory

Now, I've looked up Stop Errors on Microsoft's site, and got this article

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=165863

But I don't think it's the right one, as there's no mention of the whole IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL thing.

The other alternative is this:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=183169

And this one seems likely because the errors happened first when Norton was scanning, then when Spybot Search and Destroy was.

I've disabled Norton for the moment, let's see how things go

But, without Spybot and Norton, do you think that say, something like AVG might do the job without bluescreening this danged thing??

Has this happened to anybody else before, and how did you resolve it?

I'm getting annoyed with it. I haven't done a danged thing to the box, and now it's doing this. It's bluescreened FOUR TIMES today, and I didn't do a thing. But I know my mother is going to blame me anyways.......

And before anybody says "Reinstall Windows", I already have that at the back of my head as an option. I just don't want to risk losing my Mum's configuration, that's all.

This happens suddenly while IN windows, and as mentioned in the original post, the times it has happened are frequently when something was "scanning" the computer. Twice it has been Norton, once it was Spybot Search and Destroy.

AdAware managed to scan the computer without anything happening. But I don't think I've seen the end of a Norton scan.

But whether it's the AV itself, or a piece of malware that doesn't like being scanned is weird, as I was able to finish a Norton scan last week with no problems.

yep, apt-get really is great, that's why I have it on my Fedora install. I don't need to set up my Linux for a server, I just use it for personal use, so there's no point me using Debian really, but I DO like Debian's apt-get. FAR better than Red Hat's alternative... o.o

Well, for the moment I've disabled Norton, so Mum will have to be extra careful with viruses for a while. I'll see how that goes for the next few hours at least. I do have disk checkers, but they'll prolly bluescreen if what you're saying is correct. Worth a try anyways....

lalalalala... come here bloody Norton Disk Doctor.

EDIT: Yeah, you seem to be right. It picked up over 20 files that it had to move because of bad clusters. Two of which were Norton files, which explains why the problem seemed to fit the one re: AV problems in the Microsoft Knowledge Base so perfectly.

Thing is, I couldn't find anything about the Memory Dump when I searched. Good thing you had personal experience with it, I guess, or I'd still be banging my head against the wall wondering how I'd fucked over my mother's computer without doing anything wrong again!

I'm too scared to try it. I'm sick of BSOD'ing!!!

*opens up Norton again* Good Norton, nice Norton. Be a good little Norton

EDIT: SON OF A BITCH
Blue Screen of Death.

And this time with the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Updating Norton, as that's one of the things Microsoft suggested. "See if there are updates available for your AV". But failing that solving the problem, I'll scrap Norton altogether.

Mum needs a new Hard Drive anyways, I guess we can start all over with a nice shiny new install then and get her AVG instead of NAV anyways Until then, let's let her bork the system.

On the positive side of all this, I get to sell my mother a hard drive. *evil capitalist laugh* BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Last time I tried to be a bit selfish, he said I was making him angry, and if he got angry, he'd break something, and gee, look my stuff is just right here, he might break that....

he threatens me a bit actually. And I know that being pushy is just going to make him think he can be even MORE of a jerk. He'll do it to prove a point to me.

I know I'm letting him control me here, but only because I don't exactly have an alternative.

I can't afford a new computer if he breaks it. And if he wants to, he would break it. Of that I have no doubt.

Just like I can't afford webhosting if he deletes my site, like he threatened to do the other night. So now to avoid that, I have no blog.

Maybe when I have a job and I'm not on unemployment benefits anymore I might have some financial weight to throw around and buy myself a new computer and get hosting seperate from the company I helped found, but for now, I can't do a danged thing because I am at his mercy. And if I piss him off, he WILL punish me for it.

I just want my shit so I don't have to deal with him again. But I can't be pushy about it, because he'll stick his foot through my monitor or something like that. And I'm not about to assume he's just bluffing considering his track record.
