Because for the majority of us, caucasian food isn't exotic, it's everyday, in our faces, everywhere. Besides, I think I see a lot of threads about food in this forum anyways, not just food from asia, but food from all over the world.

I **love** the markets here in Adelaide, we can get food from all over the world. Thing is, I tend to find that there is more confectionary in the asian groceries than I can find in the other stalls, and I just happen to be drawn to confectionary by my sweet tooth.

I have a sweet tooth that is never satisfied and is always searching for new sweet things to chomp on!! I don't really care where it comes from, it's just gotta suit my tastes. It's just been more or less coincidence that the asian grocery has had a **lot** of stuff that's fit in this category.

Mmmmm..... suuuuugar....

Ow, Ow, OW!!

I just got woken up with this amazingly HOT, stingy feeling in the back of my throat. Not like acid reflux (although it seems pretty clear it's acid there) but more like I've coughed up LIQUID FIRE. To quote Ralph Wiggum: "It tastes like burning"

Now the pain won't go away..... what do I do, I want to go back to sleep!!

I've tried drinking milk, which worked for a little while -- it soothed my throat, but then it felt like the acid ate it all and the LIQUID FIRE came back!!!

I've tried drinking water, but it's not helping either

Does anybody know how to calm this? When this happens to you, what do you do?

Hmm.. what's very basic?

I have er... I don't have ice cream.

I have milk, honey, peanut butter, vegemite, ramen, pocky, chocolate, bread, crumpets, cheese, steak, butter and soup. o.o And that, ladies and gentleman, is the total of the things in my pantry (honest) o.o

Are any of those basic?

They're probably what caused this to happen in the first place....

I wonder if my tummy knows I have to get up early tomorrow morning. Maybe it's doing this on purpose. BAD TUMMY BAD!!!!

*drinking tons of water*

Well, it's gone now. It was stomach acid, but I don't usually have it burn like that!!

I often get acid reflux, but it's milder and I take medication for it. That on the other hand, was like having molten lava suddenly appear in my throat.

I just drank lots of sips of water till it calmed down a little. Although I don't think water's necessarily the best thing for acid, it helped, after a really long time.

As for the soap idea, er.... cute, but no. o.o

Stare at the person offering for a really long time, trying to work out if they were serious. Probably call them a freak. Suggest that they ask a guy I know that does that kind of thing.

Then get on with my day, ignoring the offer.

What would you do if you discovered a horrible secret about your parents?

John Butler Trio -- Betterman

By an Australian band, who are currently rising to popularity with their recent album "Sunrise over Sea". This song is however, from an earlier album, and is IMHO one of their best -- if not their best song.

Not sure how to describe or categorise this song, I guess I could call it "Rock" although it's fairly mellow. Well worth a listen to.

I'm guessing they're trying to prompt you to attach a keyboard at that point, and then press F1.

Which would be fine, if swapping or attaching a keyboard worked as easily as that all the time...

I'm not feeling wonderful, although I'm not "sick" as in contagious or anything like that. It's a little more complex than your average "being sick" thing (I wrote a thread about it in Anya and Christi's forum, so I won't go into it here).

I get wussy and cranky when I'm sick, and I'm sick an awful lot lately. My health has been on a steady decline for a few years now.

Er, you may not be able to change the BIOS.

Generally, the BIOS is specific to the motherboard of the computer. There may be an updated version available, which you can flash, but you can't just choose a different BIOS that you like and flash it, cause then you'll wind up with a dead motherboard.

If you DO flash your mobo's BIOS with the wrong BIOS, then your only option then becomes to find the exact same mother board and hot-swap the BIOS over.

Be VERY careful about changing your BIOS.

I just had my fifth puke, the doctor said I should swallow pills but he doesn't understand that I just puke them out half an hour later. :l Some doctors...

Do you know what the alternatives to pills might be? I'd try to keep the pills down if you can, the alternatives are likely to be either injections, suppositories, or nothing at all.

You know something, after years of having to write up document files for work and the web, I've actually grown to **like** a lot of the standard Windows fonts.

I've just remembered, I quite like Tahoma too. And Trebuchet...

Posted on 10-01-04 07:02 PM, in Needles (Injections, blood tests, etc) Link
Simple question.

Which is worse?
Getting a needle (injection or blood test, etc) from the doctor?
OR
The build-up before actually getting the needle? (ie, when they find a vein, get the needles out, prepare, etc, etc.
OR
After the actual needle, when you can feel your arm all heavy or dead, or you're dizzy from the blood test, etc..?

I think I find that the build up is the worst part for me. The pain of getting an injection or blood test isn't all that bad, but the build up beforehand -- the KNOWING that pain is going to be forthcoming -- is the worst bit.

Once I usually get the needle, the pain is nowhere near what my mind will blow it out to be in the time immediately before the needle. Actually getting the needle puts things back into proportion again. But beforehand, my mind starts making things out to be worse than they are and I get that nasty pit in my tummy and all.

Course, if it's a blood test and I'm not well in the first place, the dizziness kinda sucks, but it's by far not the worst part.

Anyways, which do YOU find the worst part about getting a needle?
