Well, I access through plain port 80, but when I was working in a high school, it used to use 8080... I don't quite get what you're driving at here...

Mmm... been thinking about cooking and stuff lately. I never used to be able to cook -- hell, it's been said that I could burn water in the past... but I've been getting a LOT better lately. So I've been thinking more about.. well, cooking.

I'm sure most of you can cook at least something that you think you're pretty darned good at, so I thought it might be fun to share some recipes of stuff we're good at making

I'll start by sharing with you what I'm gonna make tomorrow night for dinner Tonight I'm making minted spring lamb chops, but tomorrow night, I'm havin' Garlic Prawns! (YAY for Wednesday nights -- Seafood night!)

Garlic Prawns mmmmm....

Recipe is for one person, and shouldn't take too long to make. The bit that takes me forever is peeling the prawns, cause I make a mess everywhere and I'm just plain slow at it.

You need:
About 10 big yummy prawns (peeled)
Extra virgin olive oil to cover your pan
2 tablespoons of butter (mmm butter)
3 tablespoons fresh crushed garlic (mmm garlic)
some chopped parsley
somewhere between half and three-quarters of a cup of cream
rice.

Heat the oil and chuck the prans in till they're only just cooked. Then add all the rest of the stuff (minus the rice), and simmer so that the sauce reduces a bit. Serve it over steamed rice. I tend to have brocolli too, cause I needs mah veggies Brocolli's good all garlicy too

I didn't exercise on the weekend, cause I'm naughty. I was gonna make it up by swimming on Monday, but again I was slack.

I think I'm coming down with something too, which isn't good (I'm headachey, I have a sore throat, and I just feel mentally... dull...). I hope this passes, I'll swim again on Thursday

I used to watch both Get Smart and Inspector Gadget and loved them both as a kid. I even watched a documentary fairly recently (a few months back) on Don Adams...

This makes me sad.... Adams was just such a funny guy

Then my ISP couldn't even *find* the server until around 10 PM tonight.

Ah, I gets you now.

Well, mine was fine. Guess you're just special, Colleen

The guys at Ars Technica destroy and pull apart one as well. It's pretty funny, they run it over with a car and everything.

I'd like a Nano, but I have money issues right now, so it's not going to happen. :-/

Well, Happy Birthday, Google.

I've been using Google for a while, and I have to say I'm fairly fond of them. I'm fond of their innovation in a lot of things. They're not afraid to try new things... and they're also not afraid to have a little bit of fun either.

While they have become increasingly commercial, they still manage to keep their search interface and main page very clean and neat (as opposed to say.. Yahoo!), and they still have very good, accurate results.

As for searching properly in Google, well... I know a lot of people who don't utilise Google well for searching. There can be a bit of a trick to it at times.

I've never gotten this "Homecoming" thing (I live in Australia) so I had to look it up in Wikipedia

My advice to you -- learn how to dance a little. If it's slow dancing, ask your olds. Your Mum will probably think you're precious and jump at the chance to teach you, if she's anything like most Mums....

As for your date, just plain... ask her. Maybe with some flowers.

Hey... does anybody here happen to know how to make a satay sauce, out of interest?

Well, it's the "peanut sauce' (called a "satay sauce" -- it doesn't have to go with meat, it could go with tofu.... or noodles....) that I want to know how to make.

I know it has peanuts in it... That's about it so far...

Another interesting piece of information -- there's a LCD problem with some of the Nanos -- if yours has the problem (the screen just cracks for no apparent reason) then return your Nano, Apple recognise this as a flaw caused by LCD screens from their vendor...

Also, the black ones show scratches and fingerprints more than the white ones And clients are complaining Idjits.

I used to convert stuff to ringtones from MIDI files, back in the old Nokia ringtone days, and then after that I just used to search the web for MIDI files.

The Final Fantasy VII Citadel has some FFVII ringtones that I sourced, modified and uploaded, either for the Nokia tones and some as MIDI....

Bleh, I gave up and declared myself too drunk (or about to become too drunk) to attempt making satay stir fry tonight.

I'm going to have cheese on toast instead. I may be able to pull that off without burning myself, cutting myself, burning dinner, spilling it on the floor, etc...

(I have cooked drunk before.... can you tell how it went?)

The more awsome these new devices look, the more scratched and fingerprints they are gonna get. Remember when things used to be plastic? Nothing would scratch that stuff! I'd gladly get some scratches just to get away from those plastic shells on the old Gameboys and other electronics.

Does anyone know if the original iPod was made of metal or what?

Hmm... but the new iPods don't scratch any MORE than the other ones; it's made from exactly the same material too. It's just that black shows it better. Kinda like black cars are pretty notorious for showing dust and dirt better

Anyways, if you scratch your iPod, you CAN use Brasso to bring it back to a nice sheen. However, I wouldn't do that a lot, and I recommend putting it in a protective sleeve afterwards.

I love the Simpsons, but the funny moments are too few and far between lately.

I picked Family Guy based on what recent Family Guy episodes are like compared to recent Simpsons episodes (so the standard of each show at the moment). I believe Family Guy wins hands down.

I miss old Simpsons

We're having school holidays at the moment, so most of my clients at work aren't there. I still have to work, but it makes it a quiet two weeks, where we only support the corporate clients, not the 700 something state schools

Yay, school holidays

Course, this means I'm supposed to play catch-up...

I do, but I don't do it all the time.

If I have a cold, or hayfever, or something that's messing up my breathing, I will.
If I'm over-tired, I will.
If I'm drunk, I'm likely to snore and/or talk in my sleep.
