I don't have to follow that link to see the ad... I get to see it on TV here from time to time.

It's pretty silly. Carlton ads are usually pretty silly though. I like their previous ad campaign a lot too... mostly just a pisstake of all those overly dramatic beer ads with the overly dramatic/macho voiceovers....

"Poured down pipes and fermented in a big metal thing..."
"and driven around in carts... by HORSES.... LOTS OF HORSES"
"Carlton Draught: Made from Beer".

Oh, and the ad with the Canoes... I think the guys that do the marketing for Carlton are pretty clever -- all their ads lately have been a pisstake of some sort

I think you might be able to find the Canoe ad online.

EDIT: In fact, here they all are:

Carlton Draught: Made from Beer

I thought it sucked. Completely worthless story. It looked great, and the CG was amazing. But I'm not gonna think a move is good just cause of that.

Max -- yeah, I know it's old news, which is why I was surprised that I can't seem to find any other thread about it here...

As for it's suckiness..... well... I'm not convinced I like it myself. I dunno, it was just missing.... something.

It had all the stuff that will make the fanboys and girls happy, but all in all it wasn't anything spectacular, just the sum of it's parts. At least, that's how I felt.

I'll watch it again though... I don't think watching it on a laptop screen is good -- the action sequences are very fast and it's not fun watching them when the screen is that close to you...

I like it, but I think it's missing something. I'm not much of a photographer though, so I'm probably not the best person to ask about this stuff.

It's interesting. I wonder if seeing your sister OUTSIDE of the mirror would also be a good idea (ie, the back of her head)... not sure, like I said, I'm not much of a photographer.

Windows is not going to become OS X any time soon. I'm sorry, but if you think that all there is to OS X is the eye candy, you REALLY need to go and educate yourself about OS X.

As for Windows being influenced by Mac OS (Classic OR X) well, that's been happening for years. Where do you think your Recycle Bin comes from? Mac OS has had a Trash can since the beginning of Mac OS -- back in 1984. Windows didn't have the Recycle Bin until Windows 95 was released...

Early versions of Windows (and other systems such as GEM for that matter) were clear attempts to replicate the Macintosh operating sytem too. Windows has been taking influence from Mac OS since the very beginning... I'm not surprised to see it continue.

As for the look and feel of Vista, well personally I don't like it. I can see what they're trying to do, but... it just doesn't look quite right to me. Apple do it better.

And I'm going to have to slap you for your comment about OS X being simple.... the core OS is quite powerful, just because it *looks* simple doesn't mean it is....

Bidders will get to ask me to draw something of their choice, yes.

As for a limit... well, frankly, I'm still surprised that anybody bidded in the first place, let alone... yeah, wow.

Uhm... as stated in my last post, we need somebody to act as Auctioneer here... Not me....

Guys, chill out.

Something has happened, but there's no point getting all worked up over it, blaming people, etc. And I don't think it's nice to lay into Yoronosuku either.

Just chill out, go about doing something else for now.

Well, I see nothing wrong with Yoronosuku's attitude -- I'd be upset too if I had to sit here and watch people accuse a friend of mine.

As for her being a local mod, it shouldnt' matter -- the staff here try to work as a team and help out when we can, and I see nothing wrong with Yoronosuku asking the people her to cut out the spam, and chill out. It shouldn't matter if she's not the mod of this forum at all.

You know WHY Apple do that, right?

It's easier to support (and test, and develop for, and produce stability with) a limited range of hardware, rather than having to support every piece of hardware under the sun (like Windows has to). Windows has to support EVERYTHING, be it brand name hardware or no-name stuff, and if that hardware doesn't work well with Windows (say it causes the Blue Screen of Death) -- consumers tend to then turn around and blame Microsoft/Windows for the instability. Apple/Mac OS X doesn't have to worry about that.

There are other reasons too, ie business reasons. But stability/support is one of the reasons

I wonder how many people will mess with OS X so that it runs on their PC's, and then whine that it doesn't work properly...

Well, if I ever find the situation ramping up into more or less anxiety rather than just the generalised feelings of fear and nervousness, I find it helpful to write down the scenario - then write down the worst-case scenario that would follow on, and write down how I would cope with that scenario.

Usually makes things less scary, although there are some situations that it doesn't help much with.

I don't see why it wouldn't have been. *points at Ebay* Giving people a good two weeks upfront to know that they have this much time to bid would have been nice to have had earlier for those who were interested in bidding, quite honestly. It may have even encouraged more people to bid.

Thayer -- perhaps a date should have been set, but as I don't have much experience with Auctions (I've never sold my art before, much less at an Auction -- nor have I ever purchased from an Auction either) it didn't come to mind when I started this thread.

To be really, really honest, I thought this all would've fizzled out well before now, which would've made the whole idea of a time limit rather moot anyways. Just didn't turn out that way, did it (which to me is a pleasant surprise, I'm quite flattered)?

Okay then, how about the 21st (GMT +09.30 -- Adelaide Time) Midday?

I'm eager to have this finalised too, so I can find out what it is I'm drawing and stuff.

Oh, and Thayer - I know you mean well, but you come across rather abrasive. If you thought that there was a problem with the auction, I'd have appreciated it if you could've been a little nicer with making suggestions Cheers.

Not sure, but the first thing I try to check is the drivers.

If you have a seperate sound card, download the latest drivers from the Manufacturer's website.

If you have "onboard" sound, then go to your Motherboard manufacturer's website and find the sound chipset drivers, make sure you have the latest of those too.

My speakers would do something strange, and so I updated all the Motherboard chipset drivers and it hasn't done it anymore. They'd get into a repetetive crackle (there was a distinct pattern to it) which would not resolve itself until Windows was rebooted. Most recent drivers fixed it, and it hasn't occurred since.

So yeah, try the drivers.
