Posted on 03-16-04 09:00 AM, in Well...seems cyclic, with a new twist every time around Link
Seems like I get m'self into a relationship that has something I *really* don't want in the picture, and things go kaplooie, and Ben pushes everything away from him, giving any variety of excuses: sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes just sounds good.. Then Ben calms down and returns to what he'd been doing before.

Sigh. That was a relationship I never would've gotten into if I knew about her level of independance. All our mutual friends agree...it's a fault. She *can't* let herself feel close to someone, or can't stand it when somebody feels close to her, or some such bullshit. Something along those lines; I can't remember specifically. So...closeness between us is out. That's a pity...that's why I even get involved in a relationship like that. Big fights erupted over a bunch of different things I'd been doing...and it all goes back to that, or that stressed-out Ben acts a bit eractic and does strange/arguably possessive/chaotic/insert aggitating trait here things.

And rebound is great fun...or not. Hate the rebound. Hate the girl m' brain picked out for the rebound. She's...not all there. Perfectly nice girl...'till she gets depressed. Or whatever. She tried to kill herself a couple weeks ago; this should be a sign somewhere upstairs. I know she's not interested except a good friendship and/or *maybe* casual sex...she's like that. Casual sex isn't m' style. Not a bit of emotional connection comes from it...so I'm barking up the wrong tree again. Not to mention it's the rebound...so I shouldn't take it serious in the first place.

In other news, I've learned how to do Celtic knots from an S.C.A. meeting. Can't remember what that stands for, but oh well. I've several on paper, and now twenty on computer. One of m' favourites has been incoporated into m' layout.

Also in other news, I'll be getting a custom epee hilt soon. I forget the specific German hilt it is...but the grip itself will be mahogany (sp?). I know this fellow who's *very* good at making this stuff. It'll be $50...I get paid Friday, and I'll be working for $8/hr under the table all of next week. So...I can get m' textbooks, and m' sword. It'll probably be readied by mid-April, since he won't have a chance to get started on it 'till then. I mentioned the blade to the rebound girl, and now she wants one. She's fenced before...or so she says. This should make next term interesting...in the fencing club there'll be *maybe* 16 people present if we get lucky...one'll be m' ex-, and another the rebound from m' ex-...and everybody's swinging swords at each other. This sounds dangerous, but it's too much fun to pass up.

I have three finals tomorrow. The only one that worries me is Shakespeare. Bid me luck on that.

So...yeah. I'm back, after a brief absence.

I'm not should if there's enough demand for a tutorial on how to make these things...or if I'm by any stretch of the measure good enough yet to give such instruction. I can do that, but...there's some things that trip me up. Anyways!!

Celtic knots. Probably the greater majority of you folks have seen 'em. Some of you haven't, likely. This things are fun, and relaxing...and generally don't take too long. Certianly not on computer. I think the one of these that I'm about to show ya' guys took the longest consume 55 minutes of my time. Here's the twenty knots I've done so far...all since Saturday.

Hope ya' like.

Just a few things. First off...no gods, god-like characters (at least one very high-end characters will be necessary though), or trying to declare a different timeline is taking place other than what I'm laying out here. Second...please ask before posting, either by IM or PM. I'm thinking the more the merrier. I'd rather just control NPCs and such on this. I will say that there will be considerable odds to overcome.

First one in is the person this fellow is talking to. The current location is a fantasical world.

The place is a small city, the booth of a tavern. Many Men and Dwarves mingle about, gabbing about whatever. The night is young, and the season is late spring. Two women dance in a better lit area of the tavern to an irritating drinking song. There are a few other women in the bar aside bartenders, but the greater majority of the bar patrons are male.

Across from [ whomever is first in ] is a strange fellow. When afoot, he stand 4' 6" tall, and certainly doesn't look like he could weigh any more than 120 pounds, thanks to being a bit pumped up. He is dressed in heavy furs that fit closely to his figure. The furs are a dark grey with brown-ish and black patches. The headpiece to his outfit makes him oh-so-very conspicious...it's a wolf-like head, with fur of the same colour, except there is a midnight blue strip of fur running from the tip of the muzzle straight back the muzzle, across the center of the top of the head, and on down the center of the back.

His face is a bit older, probably early middle age. His hair is light brown, and notably shiny. The eyes are hazel and suggest that this man has seen much hardship. He slides a large envelope over to you...inside which is a sheet of good paper with very box-like handwriting:

Devonsbrooke. A port city, on the smallest of this world's four inhabitable landmasses. 3:30pm, local time, eleven days ago. City guardsmen would have changed post in ninety minutes. A man of short and thin stature ducked into an alley, and opened a customized bag of holding. One by one many similar figures in military uniforms quickly stepped out, dispersing in small chunks in different directions. A few of them had similar customized bags of holding, and repeated the process. After an hour, 25,000 of these fellows were in the Devonsbrooke. City guardsmen were tired and their relief were not geared yet when they struck. Devonsbrooke lost every man, woman, child and animal within a 40-minute stretch. They suffered sixteen casualties.

Rumour of Devonsbrooke falling had reached this city, but it had not been confirmed, or recounted as anything near this terrible. The man looks [ the person ] intently in the face.

"They have been on the move, heading in this direction for eleven days now, calling more of their own in, and fortifying every step of the way. Last I knew there were over 75,000 of them in the Devonsbrooke area, with plenty coming to take this city, Gloucetia. I know not how many ten-thousand strong they are, but it is too many."

Many know the Duke of Gloucetia has an army of 14,000 infantry and 1,000 cavalry. The man continues:

"I'm certain you're wondering why I'm talking to you about such matters, and not to the Duke. I could easily get an audience with him, but I speak to you on the subject since you have enough abilty that you may be able to, with the necessary help, strike them a hard blow, slow them down, and buy everyone else enough time to rally. You may be able to fell their commanders. But you will need help."

Agreed Anya...I think I've explained it too many times in other locals.

Favourite hero...tough call. I'm probably sticking with Sabin from FFVI. Love his attititude, and battle capability.

We've seen some dumb names before. "Some" meaning more-than-we-care-to-remember.

The dumbest one, to me, is Wakka. Associations with that sound....

Hey, it's great for me. I got all upset about everything, and started casting everything aside...this place included. Even routed m' password to garbage characters.

So...yeah. I'm back and things are cool again. And m' layout's improved notably. *gives thumbs up*

I just use good ol' MS Paint for it, and save it as a black & white .png to save space. Computer progs draw straighter lines than I do, more quickly, and more accurately. Not to mention...I've got a stencil to work from.

The fellow gets up.

"We have much to discuss. There is the road for that. My name is Ahzaz-Thraak. We should -- "

A very large, very strong man pushes the small figure to the ground. Ahzaz-Thraak gets up while the man taunts.

"Looks at this kid in here. Where the hell did you get this get-up, boy? Never seen the circus with this shit on."

Laughter erupts across the tavern. The little man is looking increasingly angry. Bit-Blade can sense a strong inner magic source within the little man...abnormally powerful. The big man kinda mockingly dances about in front of Ahzaz-Thraak. Looking him over, Bit-Blade notices the pommel of a sword hilt tucked in the folds of the furs on the little fellow's back. His left hand is slowly moving toward it.

Ahzaz-Thraak gathers his weapons from the rack...a bastard sword over his shoulder, and a matching set of what looks damn near a samurai katanna and wakizsashi...there something...different looking about them. The two were a half-block off before the small man spoke again.

"Idiots. Times like that I wonder why I try to save other people."

He remains silent...leading Bit-Blade out of the city gates. Once out of earshot of the guards....

"There is much to discuss, and a long road ahead. Where should we begin? With me, or you?"

"Now...this is interesting."

A Dark Elf stands at the end of the field...watching on with a bit of a smirk. The flames overtake his ground, to which he does not flinch. He breathes in deeply, relaxed.

"Ah...unholy fire...after being the Black Dog, I absorb this kind of attack as healing."

Hastega on self

The Dark Elf continues to just stand there...watching the fight....

Non-corporeal most prized possession would be my third eye (second sight/creativity center).

Coporeal...I'd say it's my Eagle Shadow Box, the one they gave me for achieving Eagle Rank in scouting.

The Dark Elf looks across everybody...and has a similar reaction as he is struck by the fire tornado.

"Wow...elemental alignments come in handy when everybody likes one in particular, even if the alignment is somewhat off-balance."

He looks across the various fighting people on the field.

"Hmm...that trend will not last."

Cecilia is the female version, which sounds much more feminine. Think Simon & Garfunkle for a bit; you'll get the pronunciation.

I honestly didn't remember that Square gave us that many stupid names.
