Hey mega-dog. Remember me? heh.. anyways, a double dragon editor would be nice, and ArkEdit would definately be awesome if it was ported to windows. I've always thought that would've been nicer. I just don't like DOS editors.

Eh, it's just a graphic hack. Go crazy with it. I think making Megaman's outline black, and surrounding it in a layer of white would be a nice idea. it'd be easier to see. Just my 2 cents.

Hey Xcom, nice to see ya. I like your idea of WikiRAM. It's actually pretty neat. If people decide to contribute to it, and if it becomes popular enough, I could see me using it often. Good luck.

Whoa, you mean I can play the same old SMB except everything is just colored outlines? Sign me up! I did see the transparent Megaman hack, and just replied for the sake of being nice, but then I noticed the Transparent Mario being stickied. I expected someone with balls like you to step up and confront us with this. Seriously, all his hacks are just graphic hacks. Not even good ones. While all the worthwhile hacks are ignored, this innovative masterpiece of a romhack gets all the praise it deserves for the hard, strenuous work that was put into it.

You're no asshole, Disch. You're just dead honest.

Wow, SMK hacking has come a long way. Nice work, guys. This will be one of the few hacks worth playing.

Why can't anyone see that!
Honestly, I suggested peter_ac's hacks should have gotten stickied. I played tons of hacks WAYYYYYYYYYY better then mine but don't blame me if those hacks didn't get stickied.
If you don't like my hacks then fine with me! Don't pay attention to it if you don't like it.
Even I don't know how it got so much attention. Just leave it go!!!!!!!!!!!!! JEEZ!!

I think Disch directed his post towards the people who acclaimed your hack and gave it a lot of attention despite being only a GFX hack. I wouldn't take it as a personal attack. The hack wouldn't get so much negative attention if there weren't so much semi-honest positive attention to begin with. And that's not really your fault.

Hahaha. Funniest SMB hack yet. Nice job. It's impressive for a small hack. Someone could make a full hack based on this. I think I'm going to use something similar to this for old SMB hack to spice it up. I can't wait to see what else you got up your sleeve(s).

Edit: The editor has been released. The URL to Excite Track is:
http://vbvanguard.freewebspace.com/excitetrack.html

Feedback is appreciated.

Can any mods change the title of this thread to "Excite Bike Editor released!"? That would save me from starting a new thread. Thanks

For the last few days I've been working on an Excite Bike editor. I found all the data I needed and so far I'm doing well. I expect that it would be finished in a few more days, although I get stuck on some parts . Before I do finish it, though, I want some opinions on whether it would be a good idea to have an Excite Bike editor, or if anybody is interested in it. Any suggestions would be nice, too.

The current features:
Edits all 5 tracks.
Edits objects added to the alternative track.
All objects are viewable in the object selector.

Anyways, here are the promised screen shots:

Coolest graphics for SMB I've seen yet. Some of the levels look similar to the original SMB levels. And like Shadic said, you can almost jump over the flag. That can easily be fixed by moving the flag pole a little. Anyays, this is an overall excellent hack. Nice work.

Thanks for all the replies. I see there is atleast somewhat of an interest to my editor. To answer some questions, the in-game editor only lets you create your own levels. If you beat the actual tracks and get 1-3rd place, you will go to the next track, which will be exactly like the last track except with new obstacles thrown in. My editor will allow you to edit both. I might add a feature where you can import your custom made tracks into the ROM, but that's unimportant to me at the moment and it would possibly be included in later versions if I ever get to it.

And yes, I still use VB. No shame in that. Does the job alright. And even if I start to use C++, I'll still be vbVanguard. Or possibly vbVanguard++...

Also, why the HELL should vb vanguard learn anything other than visual basic? Then he wouldn't be vb vanguard anymore ;-;. C++vanguard doesn't have the same ring to it.

Edit: and just in case you don't remember (because we hardly ever talk anymore) I used to be MavrikNyne in TEK.
Hey, of course I remember you! I remember all of my old TEK buddies. I've seen you around on the board but I never knew you were MavrikNyne. That's awesome. Thanks for welcoming me back into the "scene". However, I'm not really dedicating a lot of time into ROM Hacking so don't expect me to be that active.

Excite Track 1.0 Beta is finally finished. I completed it much sooner than I initially though. Anyways, you can get it at http://vbvanguard.freewebspace.com/excitetrack.html. Tell me what you think of it.

P. S., anybody know of a better host who would be willing to host for free/cheap?

Animal rights activists reached an all-time low. Are fish tanks still legal there?

On an interesting note, PETA has some sort of affiliation with organized terrorist groups. I guess you could call PETA a terrorist group, with anti-KFC cruelty stickers plastered on walls all over the place. Yeah, they can go a little too far trying to protect their cute little animal friends.

Thanks for trying out my editor (for those who did). If you notice any errors, feel free to PM me about it. I'll credit you in the finding of such errors in the final version. I know there's one obvious error involving the widths of objects appearing wider, but that won't affect the hack at all.

legoman, download the file mentioned, and if that doesn't work, register the ocx using start> run> "regsvr32 commondialog.ocx" after putting it in the system directory. I should include the OCX in the zip file next time.

One more thing - in the last screen, how are you supposed to get by there if you're not big?
There's a little trick in SMB where if you place a hidden block near a solid object, Mario can run right through them both. I don't know if he utilized that, but such feat is definately possible.
