| Yes, I read the sticky ^.^ . lol. My name is Juju. I recently became interested in ROM hacking after playing through some of the Final Fantasy titles for the Super Nintendo on my PC. Some of the utilities I 've found on the Web have been extremely useful in these endeavors, particularly for graphics and text alteration. I'm currently attempting to pick up 65c816 assembly, but my lack of analytical capacity, especially the inability to memorize opcode functions, is making it very difficult. An eternal n00b, I guess. Thanks for reading; it certainly seems like I'll enjoy it here from some of the other topics I've read. (edited by Edea on 08-22-05 10:31 PM) |

| I have very little knowledge regarding autism. The only person I know who has been diagnosed with it is utterly unable to take care of himself. Reading this leads me to think there may be other things wrong with him; he must be attended by another adult (his mother) at all times, including using the restroom and eating a meal properly. Are there vastly different degrees of this condition? This person I speak of -does- seek attention in any way possible, including repeating the same statement until he gets a response and constantly asking for apologies, both before and after he's done something 'wrong.' He's actually fairly competent with a computer...which might be why he's on his so much. |

| The problem I have with a 'Heaven/Hell' concept is that reward vs. punishment is relative in nature. What exactly is pleasure without the pain to accompany it? That's like 'she's always so happy;' the only way to verify that opinion is to use someone else who is considered 'sad.' If we do have 'Anima,' it's not in the 4th dimension or or any dimension below. Those are all physical dimensions, and because the universe seems to express itself physically rather than spiritually, we are in turn forced to use a 4-dimensional perspective to utilize and apply logic, making consciousness undetectable and immesurable. Someone will inevitably try to tell you 'We are composed of atoms and electrical impulses.' This is absolutely correct. Any guesses what matter and energy really are? Sure, you can go to Webster's. The definition for matter blows the mind. 'All objective phenomena?' 'The substance from which physical objects are composed?' Nice way to step around it. It seems there are indeed four elements making up 'us', but it's not fire, water, air and earth. It's space, time, matter, and energy, all of which are apparently interchangable, which really means they aren't truly different from one another, which brings us back to what IS this? This seems to be the current working paradigm for our perception of existence. So, IF something does happen when the physical body goes through the shift of death, it is beyond the scope of human perception, unless we can somehow use this infomation in such a way as to force the universe to define itself. I really wish I could have witnessed the Big Bang we apparently had. In any case, an afterlife most certainly won't be 'good' or 'bad,' since those are dependant concepts, thereby forced into the mold of human perception, which already seems to have a great deal of trouble perceiving anything beyond the 4th dimensional element, or 'time.' |

| I'll go ahead and post here, didn't seem to be more than a couple threads about this one. I would like to locate the data for item statistics, monster statistics, and the pointer table for spell progressions/spell categories (for example, Rosa's white magic command can only be used by Rosa, and in fact when Rydia becomes an adult she -CANNOT- use her White magic command anymore even if you give it back to her). I know where the job command and spells learned at levels is located, but I can't extend the spell learning lists or create new ones for other characters. This is why I was trying to pick up a bit of assembly; if anyone else has offsets for these things it'd be greatly appreciated. |

| At least the engineering of new species isn't being accelerated by nuclear fallout from some of the weapons humanity has been capable of creating. Life seems to be a very touchy subject when addressed directly, but if the 'perfect soldier' were to be mechanical or viral in nature we'd be like 'boooo-riiiing, soooo nineties....' regardless of its ability to defile other living things. Also, if anyone sees that movie from Faces of Death about 'livestock,' you get desensitized to the idea of a hybrid animal veeeery quickly. I dunno, since I'm not really seeing any difference, more power to the researchers. |

| Knowing very little about it, hopefully I don't come across as being entirely ignorant. However, perhaps a fairly large percentage of the people responding to this are from the United States or are intimately tied to that region (if not, I'm -very- impressed with the diversity of the board population here). The American perspective on cessation is violently against, mainly because of the 'traitorous' feeling already alluded to that it elicits, but perhaps also because of this country's history (this ironically being one of the parts most Americans remember, lmao). From a less nationalistic viewpoint, I'm thinking that, while the socio-cultural reform may have benefits (at least for Quebec's people, which does sound kinda selfish), the economic effects I find shaky; I thought that Canada was a major exporter of oil, one of the greatest in the world (America gets most of its oil ond petroleum by-products from Canada, not the Middle East, which I was shocked to learn). Is Quebec the source of this? I doubt it, and that means it would need to find another means of handling itself economically. The St. Lawrence river may very well be one of its only economic outlets (so people in Upper East U.S. might actually want this to happen). I guess I need a bigger detail as to what exactly Quebec has to fall back on once it's seceded. |

| It's already been said: religion is not necessarily spirituality, and spirituality is not necessarily religion. I also stay away from religion, because it's what another human being decrees as 'right.' I'll think for myself, since their opinion is no better than my own. Its true purpose, at least long ago, was to unite a group of people under a common banner so that ffears within were assuaged and the group in question became better able to 'deal with' other groups. |

I'd guess 'equal rights.' If it's not that gives Heien the chance to get a full point. |
'RightLeftRight' instead of 'Right Right' would point to 'left out,' but the two rights are identical in size, font, position, color...

There's also the possibility that you really don't 'die.' If consciousness, or the spirit, doesn't exist physically, how can it do anything physical, such as dissipate? If it's not physically present to begin with, perhaps the term 'death' is also inadequate. Or, if everything we are is directly represented by matter and energy...heh heh, most scientists will balk at the idea of creating or destroying matter and energy, and since they're interchangeable...well, you didn't really go anywhere! |
That makes me wonder if a perfectly preserved genetic memory will allow one to retain this particular consciousness or if a new one replaces it...maybe even if my physical avatar was reconstructed after the overall chemical reaction ceased to perpetuate itself, it -still- wouldn't be 'me.' This last bit's more focused on organized religion and 'consequence.' I can't remember if I thought of this when pressed with the question 'what are you going to do with your life' or if it's a thought I heard elsewhere, but If one does actually die, then everything they do truly doesn't matter, as 'common purpose' is likewise human/cultural in nature (though from evolving in such a way that the lifeforms that wish to survive prevail, anything that threatens our survival should of course still be opposed), leaving fulfillment of self as a possibility which, of course won't happen since you're dead (tautology, maybe I can phrase it better later). If one does not die, there is an infinite amount of time to do absolutely everything, so once again it doesn't matter. Enter the 'afterlife,' a convenient yet exceedingly improbable stepping stone between finite and infinite , where humanity can define the rules and exercise control. Hmmmmmm.......

Governments in a capitalist system who decide to encourage immigration employment are laboring under the delusion that, since the cost of manufacture or service went doen due to wage decreases, the products in question will be offered at a cheaper price as long as competition is present. That sounds like decent economics, but major industry colludes terribly so the 'in' people maximize profit, so no one actually wins besides the pig-headed CEOs. That's what I suspect, at least, no actual evidence to back it up save that the immigrant's being here isn't helping our unemployment rate the way U.S. government says it will... |

Slay brought up an excellent point. If that's the case, surely the transition of the spiritual state from one reality to another would result in circumstances so different that it would still be difficult, if not impossible, to assign words and definitons to it. |
My previous reality involved q-bert and grape soda...

Sorry if my request fell into the 'n00b' category. I managed to finally locate those blasted offsets on my own, but being a retard it took me faaaaar longer than it would have taken a normal person :/. This time I'll contribute instead. |
Weapon/Armor/Item statistics: $79300-$79E20 (I'm sure the first address is the start, not so sure about the ending). Item Prices: $7A650-$7A750 Who can equip what: $7A750-$7A790. Each word bit is aimed at a 'suite' of items, so all items that are equipped by (Lydia, Palom, Tella and FuSoYa) have the same pointer result, and will all be equippable by other people if you change the values. Byte1: 01 = CDK, 02 = Cain, 04 = Kid Lydia, 08 = Tella, 10 = Gilbert, 20 = Rosa, 40 = Yang, 80 = Palom Byte 2: 01 = Porom, 02 = CP, 04 = Cid, 08 = Adult Lydia, 10 = Edge, 20 = Cid, 40 = Golbeze, 80 = Anya. Enemy Characteristics/Graphics: ~$70100- ~$73900. I think stats are around 72B00, enemies got a lot more resistant to elemental attacks when I corrupted that area. They also gave off abnormal EXP and GP. Didn't mess much with this after the first few corruptions. I'm still looking for spell graphics/statistics data; if anyone finds it -please- let me know. I hope someone finds this info useful, wish I was faster at this .

It is. |
Apparently it took a news crew half a day to travel a strecth of road that normally takes only 30 minutes to cross. They had people in front of them clearing away trees and bodies. A few dozen would be a pleasant surprise the way things are turning out now. As for financial aid, even if offered Congress won't accept, as has already been said.

I think that data's in the $A0000 - $A6000 range, at least for the world map (maybe?), but apparently I'm too retarded to extract the correct palette from the game, so even though I can make out some of the tiles as being patterned I've never been able to edit them. |
Haven't found towns yet. Battle sprites, on the other hand, pop up immediately in tlp; I didn't even have to try to get those. Wish everything else would follow suit, lolz.

I...need to spew for a bit before deciding. I have kinda similar definitions to the different systems, but I need to explain my thinking before answering. |
Real Time: This type is actually exceedingly rare, and I highly doubt a non-PC RPG could fit this type of gaming style because of the genre's dependancy on magic use. There are -NO- menus in a true RTB system; they're o.o.b. only. Not even a temporary pause to grab an item or use a spell, or even to load a quick menu. Also, no battle notification; it just happens, preferably without a music change (though you'll get one anyway), and you can see enemies (Unless, of course, they've intentionally used a vanishing effect that isn't ubiquitous to the game's enemy population). Macros can still be used, but that's it. I think the only one I've tried is FFXI, and I didn't like it very much. Also, in an ideal RTB there is no such thing as an Evasion stat; your evasion is literally how well you can move your character out of an attack zone, not a predefined number. Selective Real Time: Example: the Zelda games, Legacy of Kain. Fairly similar to actual RTB, but you can open up quick menus and even pause the game in order to produce the proper effect. I can't stand Zelda games, but actually the battle system is one of its pluses, I'd like to try more of these. Quantized Time: This is the type used by Star Ocean and Chrono Trigger. MOST of the time spent in combat is real, but there are still opportunities to pause the battle to access a quick menu for an item or a spell. Sometimes the game won't pause while in the menu (like in SO's full Action mode), but it's there, which means much broader options and not quite RTB. Also, there is a battle notification and sometimes even a seperate field, hence 'quantized.' I like Star Ocean quite a bit. Condition Time: FFX. Battles are discreet events, and there is a definite, predefined acting order. Characters are not truly controllable, instead given text directions through a full menu system. Also, you normally cannot see enemies, though SMRPG, another Condition Time game (though it may not seem like it; believe me, Geno will ALWAYS be the first party member to go unless you're using relics or cheats), you not only can see them, you can interact with some of them in ways that don't produce a fight (such as getting Frog coins from Wigglers). I believe this is one of my favorites. Active Time: ATB, Most later Final Fantasy games. Turn gauges will fill at a rate determined by the character's Speed stat, and will be initialized at random points with a -slight- bias towards a high Stamina/VItality stat. When the turn comes up, you issue text commands for that character. It's possible to switch between characters without pausing the fight or losing a turn, just like in Quantized Time. Enemies might attack while within the menu framework, or they may not (Active/Wait). Enemies usually can't be seen until the battle is initialized. This is the one I'm most used to, so I'm kinda bored by it. Strict Time (TBB): Saga Frontier (don't cringe, it's just for this example). It's not just the turn order that gets predefined, the ROUNDS get predefined. Every round is quantized rather than every battle. You get one turn per character per round unless you use extremely powerful spells, period. Stun and Paralyze are incredibly potent, dangerous ailments in these types of games. Usually you can see enemies coming. I don't like the Strict Time system. Flowing Time: Earlier Final Fantasy games. Similar to Active Time, save that there are no gauges and you CANNOT SWAP TURNS. This is why I think it's 'flowing;' the time is being streamed to emulate the order the characters would naturally act in, while still allowing for at least quasi-active time battle mechanics and enemy AI. Turn orders aren't nearly as random as they are in Active, but it's better than Condition. Flowing Time is basically the mama of Active, so it's not used anymore. Freakass Time: Chrono Cross. Do NOT GET ME STARTED on this game's battle system. Element use is wonderful; it's the way time flows that's borked. And we're not talking 'omg so hard' borked. I mean 'made the game too easy' borked. Ever notice than when an enemy decides to act in this game (IF they act at all), everyone's Stamina gauges fill completely, even if the enemy merely uses a Weak attack action? In any case, it has similarities to Strict Time, but the use of Stamina points gives it a more active feel (since your 'turn' can be fragmented into different, comboed actions). I do not like freakass time.Independant Time: I like this the least, I've only played one game with this and I've forgotten its name because I hated it so much. Your job is to prep the characters o.o.b.. That's it. They take care of everything else if they find monsters, all for your completely non-interactive viewing pleasure. The irony is that this is more real than real-time, and yet it's the complete opposite simultaneously...and it's -LAME.- I'll take the menus, thanks. I think I'll choose Condition time for now. Wouldn't that go under 'turn-based?'
