Is there any (easy) way to upload a saved MySQL database (save as a .sql file) to another database, using phpMyAdmin or other content management systems?

Thanks in advance.

I had tried that, and saved the whole database as one .sql file, but it appears that there was a problem with PMA itself...would saving each row at a time help?

Thanks anyway.

I remember seeing the code posted here before; does anyone have it?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies.

Actually, Erk, I had been considering your hosting, but lack of credit card unfortunately hindered me.

Anyway, I have sort-of reliable hosting now.

Dial-up is where I am, and where I'm staying, I'm afraid. Broadband is still too expensive. I use a flat rate package, though, so it's pretty cheap and not too expensive.

However, I did use a 28.8 modem for four years, so when I got this new PC with 56kb/s, I was rather happy.

Interesting...thanks.

Erk - Well, I probably couldn't manage them either, being across the Atlantic.

Yes, I have tried two host already, and the only problem is with the cookies.

I never had problems with this before, but now when I try to login, I get the following error messages at the top of login.php:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /directory/config.php) in /directory/login.php on line 22

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /directory/config.php) in /directory/login.php on line 23

It's a hopeless case by now, but is there any possible way to login without cookies? (Yes, I'm so desperate that I'd ask a riduculous question like that.)

It gave me this message, and wouldn't let me log in.

There was one line beneath login.php, and no less than seventy-five lines beneath config.php

It then reported an error in one of my schemes, then in layout.php, and then, after weeks of frustration...

IT WORKED!!!

Cymoro, you are my hero.

*glomps Cymoro*

Erk - Be sure that once I have the finances to pay for hosting, I'll be over to you in a flash.

I hate to make another thread on a similar subject, but since I moved host, my board has gone mad.

I eventually sorted the error, and it worked fine, but half of the members cannot log in, while the other half can log in fine.

It does the usual old trick with "You are logged in as...", but the names do not show up in the online users bar.

There are other strange issues also, which I have yet to look in to.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance that anyone could give.

Thanks in advance.

Well, there seem to be a number of spaces in certain files, but when I try to edit them using the file manager, they appear again after saving. I think I may try to save all the files to disk and edit them one by one.

As for the cookie path, the URL is http://www.the-realm.mysitespace.com/main, and the path is:

domain: "www.the-realm.mysitespace.com"
folder: "/main/"

I shall try editing every file now, and see how that goes.

Thanks for the help.

As I said, Erk, I have every intention to arrange hosting with you, and I hope that I will be in a better financial position soon.

I sorted that out, and it seems to be working alright now. Thanks Cymoro. The problem seemed to have stemmed from the host's file editor, which seemed to erase all the carriage returns in the file.

I noticed that your Numgfx don't work (post counts, etc.). Check with your host whether or not they support GD Library. If they don't, the best thing to do is to modify the threadlayout (or something similar) table, to only allow the non Numgfx layouts.

Actually, Lycos do support it now. I think Ogre's FAQ said that they didn't, but that was written a while ago.

Michael, you probably don't remember me. Or maybe you do. Ellis may have related to you a story of pitchforks and small wind instruments, but I doubt he did.

Welcome, anyway. I hope for your sake you don't join the Board Lurkers Brigade.

Free .tk domains are redirection only. As far as I know, paid ones work the same way as ordinary domains, displaying subdirectories and such.

I was remembered! I never thought you would, to be honest.

Michael, you're better off not knowing about the pitchforks. Or the wind instruments.

I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to modify newreply.php in such a way that you allowed the same user to post repeatedly in the same thread, but to allow this in only certain forums.

I did try this before, but it never worked correctly, but I'm in need of it again.

I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me.

Hmm, yeah, I suppose I could do it by adding a row into each forum. Good idea.

Actually, maybe the option to enable/disable multi-posting could be included in v2, whenever it may materialise.

Curiously enough, this always happened to me at my board, yet affected nobody else. Very oddly, though, it used to work on the test account.

Whether enabled or disabled, it never works for me. I used to think that it didn't work for staff, but it doesn't seem to work for some ordinary members either. The reason eludes me.

I had been told that it doesn't work with Firefox, but it appears not to work in IE for me either.
