| Black Celebration is such a good album. How I love DM. My favorites are probably Some Great Reward and Ultra. But none of DM's stuff stands up to Pet Shop Boys' Very. Synth pop gold right there.(edited by Abnormal Freak on 10-06-04 01:19 AM) |

| There's a reason people call the band HIM, drjay. ... 'Cos that's the band's name. ;P Sure, it stands for His Infernal Majesty, but you know, AFI stands for A Fire Inside but the band's still called AFI. ![]() |

| Exciting news...'cos they're my favorite band...and on their previous tour (during the summer), they didn't come to Minneapolis, but this time they will! So far it's the last (revealed) scheduled date. Maybe they'll go out with a huge bang...or perhaps they'll be way too friggin' tired to give it all that there is. Whatever...I just hope that they play "Human Disease (S.K.U.M.M.)", 'cos that'll have me dancing all around. And I'll be totally cool with them playing some songs from their new album, 'cos I love that album, as different as it is. Right, I'm sure nobody here cares for this band or me seeing them...but I'm excited an' had to tell. ;P |

| Skinny Puppy's industrial. Very moody and dark and creepy, but also danceable a lot of the time. If I were you, I'd check out the album Too Dark Park. |

| I gotta say this... Fuck Lucas. Just fuck him! Ruining classic movies with his shitty special editions...and now making EXTRA special editions for DVD, and never releasing the originals? I hate him. What a disgusting, fat, delusional man. I'm not even going to see the DVD editions, because I hate the SEs as it is. Everything about 'em, every last added bit... It all sucks. None of its shitty visuals entice me, some parts simply ruin the flow of the movies. Ick. And fuck Lucas for putting out that atrocity, Episode II: Attack of the Clones. I'm actually quite fond of The Phantom Menace, I'll admit--I seem to be one of few who do. But Episode II is just disgusting in every way. Two things I liked about it (well, three or four, depending on how you look at it): Natalie Portman's erect nipples, and her running around with her clothes all torn up. And two, that big battle at the end was pretty cool, but doesn't justify how bad the rest of it. And the end battle is only cool from a visual perspective (even though a lot of the CGI looks like ass, especially the overly animated Yoda), and 'cos of how crazy it is. Nowhere near as cool as the battles in Episode I though. I don't even want to see Episode III, but I know I'm going to anyway, and I'm sure in the end I'll just complain and wish I'd never seen it. But I know for sure I won't be seeing the DVD editions of the first three movies, 'cos I'll just end up hating Lucas even more. On that issue (of "enhancing" movies apart from digitally remastering them), fuck the newer version of ET. I never saw it, but it looked bad. A CGI ET...how horrible. Taking out the guns the policemen were holding (that's what I heard)? Blecht! I cannot believe the idiocy of some people and of filmmakers that like to taint their movies. And I really despise CGI, really I do. It can look good, it can be used for some things, but all in all it's just bad. Why can't people take notice of Henson's Farscape? Masterful stuff! Looks incredible! Puppets, costumes, makeup... THAT's where good filmmaking effects are. The only movie series with CGI characters that look like they're actually a part of the environment is The Lord of the Rings. That's passable and doesn't look too overblown and unrealistic. I don't know... I'm passionate about these kinds of things, and very picky. Don't hate me for being an occasional asshole and hardpressed to push my opinion. Oh yeah... Fuck Lucas. |

| Well, judging by the previews, it's probably the only horror movie in the past number of years besides Dawn of the Dead that's actually captured my interest. Man, those movies just keep getting pumped out, like crappy historical war-based first-person shooters (and FPS in general). | |||

Except that many people tend to forget that metal is a genre completely separate from rock, a genre with many diverse sub-genres all its own. Sure, in the beginning metal stemmed from rock, but it definitely became its own thing apart from it. Yes, Rammstein's metal--some variation of it. Rammstein label Sehnsucht in particular as "dance metal." (edited by Abnormal Freak on 10-24-04 08:37 AM) |

| I'd say Black Sabbath was the first heavy metal band. There were other bluesy hard rock groups doing some heavy distortion at the time, but Sabbath took it all the way and created the first metal music. And besides, even if they didn't create it, they're definitely the most influential metal band. I vote for Sabbath, easily. Metallica doesn't even compare. Metallica did some cool stuff, but there's cooler thrash out there anyway, and besides, Sabbath is just like...the raddest metal band ever. |

...will be one of the greatest experiences ever. I can tell just by how Ogre is dressed for the first song.![]() I've read they've always had big stage theatrics, and even though they're a band more than 20 years old, they're still going strong at it. |

| Speed metal exists, yeah. You could say it was the precursor of thrash. But "symphonic" ain't much a characteristic... There's all sorts of metal sub-genres, like industrial metal, black metal, death metal, doom metal, power metal, metalcore, etc. AMG actually gives fairly good descriptions of them. |

Well, lately I've been really getting into Mr. Bungle, and they're just oddball through and through. A very filthy song of theirs is "The Girls of Porn". I'll just post the lyrics to entice you. ![]() Okay, all you pus-sucking motherfuckers out there Other than that, you know, there's lots of stuff, but none so much I feel like mentioning. That song does it all for me. |
