More of choice B. Going back to the mastertape and making a better CD out of it. Most CDs mastered in the '80s don't sound too good. The volume levels are all wacky and quiet, and clarity can often be bad.

When so-called CD remasters include altered sounds/music, however, I do not approve.

One suggestion, buy Zombie/Zombi 2. Awesome movie: a shark fights a zombie, topless scuba diving and splinters in eyes. A true masterpiece.

I'd like to see that, but I'd much rather see Zombi 3, also by Lucio Fulci. Here's how someone at the IGN DVD General Board described it:

This movie was insanely cheesy but so fun to watch at the same time. Why was it so fun? The zombies man. The zombies. I've never seen such a huge variety of zombies in a movie. Everything from slow zombies who stumble about, to super fast zombies, to machete wielding psychotic zombies, to talking zombies, to flying head zombies, to zombies with super strength, to weak ass gangs of zombies, to aquatic underwater zombies. A typical zombie buffet if you will. The acting was also so bad that it was hilarious. I guess this is what you get when you have two different kinds of horror directors at the helm. One beig Lucio Fulci, famous for "Zombie" and the hack Bruno Mattei famous for so much trash, like his super cheesy Hell of the Living Dead. I don't know who directed what in this movie, but the end result sure was fun. Supposedly according the Bruno, Fulci directed about 60% of it, while Bruno directed the other 40%, but the editing kind of mixed everything together.

Very cheesy, very trashy, very fun! Definitley check this one out if you dig zombie movies, even the bad ones.

Man... It sounds so good.

Anyway...

CD
KMFDM - NIHIL

Since it's a great album, it's out of print (why did all of KMFDM's pre-ATTAK albums go OOP?), and I still don't own it. I've been listening to my brother's copy all these years.

Zombi 3 is much worse. And just for reference, Lucio Fulci's Zombi movies are un-official sequels to Dawn of the Dead.

...Which, by the way, is a total shite movie. After seeing it twice, I still don't like it. Blegh. Romero's a hack. Night of the Living Dead was good. Dawn isn't.

It's a GREAT movie. One of my favorites. I've seen it plenty of times. Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis are excellent in it. It was made on a super low budget, but it looks freaking incredible. Just goes to prove that even now, you don't have to have a gigantic Hollywood budget to make a great looking film. Well, and a lot of foreign movies prove that as well, 'cos I'm sure most of those movies don't have the amount of money goin' for 'em as Hollywood movies do. According to IMDb, The Fifth Element is the most expensive movie produced outside of Hollywood.

And yeah, the music score is neat.

Now I wanna see Don Coscarelli's Phantasm. It's supposed to be one of those horror movie greats from the '70s/'80s period, I think.

I really hope that Bubba Nosferatu gets realized. I guess Coscarelli's still raising money for it. It'll be great if this movie gets made (it's a prequel of sorts, and it's mentioned at the end of the Bubba Ho-tep credits).

I'll need to pick this game up sometime in the next few months. Although I don't have a DS...and I really don't plan on buying one any time soon. I'm hoping there'll be a device to play all of Nintendo's handheld games on the Revolution... Wishful thinking.

But like, I'm sort of a Castlevania collector...to some extent...and I know I'll be kicking myself if I don't get this, 'cos a while down the road and I'll only be able to get it used, and possibly in bad condition (with a crappy box, maybe no manual, etc.).

I'll wait to get it... Till I have the money. I've got other things I'd rather buy right now. And I gotta preorder Castlevania: Curse of Darkness to get the sampler soundtrack.

DEP are good. Their EP with Patton is real solid and good, but I love Miss Machine so much more. It's sheer perfection, and I think that Greg Puciato is better and more fitting in DEP than Patton was (although of course Patton rocked with DEP, and Greg borrows from him), who in turn was a lot better than their original vocalist, Dimitri. DEP's pre-Irony Is a Dead Scene stuff is fascinating, but I don't listen to it much. Too much incoherent craziness. I like good songwriting, like on Miss Machine. And if I really want to listen to insanely crazy tech metal, I'll listen to Behold... The Arctopus instead of earlier DEP. They're technically more amazing, and their songwriting skills are top-notch, doing the whole math/tech metal thing better than anyone else I've heard. That and they're entirely instrumental.

As fer Patton and his projects... Yeah, he's cool and a very good vocalist. Best modern day vocalist? I highly disagree. Yeah, he's great...but people hype him up way too much. Sure, you can like him however much you like...but I'm tired of hearing so many people claim him to be the best vocalist ever. I'd like to hear him sing opera. I bet he can't. Well, actually, maybe he can. But I doubt it's where he excels, and there's no way he can be better than some of those amazing opera singers with the excellent range and the amazingly strong vocals. Yeah, Patton's great...but the best vocalist around? I can't even agree with that in the rock/metal world, but that's just my personal taste. Besides, Patton is a great producer, and does a lot of layering...and I doubt he sounds quite as great in person as he does on record.

Mr. Bungle's neat. I have FNM's King for a Day and that's pretty good. Fantomas is pretty intriguing. I like what I've heard that Patton's been involved with. I wouldn't say I love him or his work, though.

Life of Brian (Monty Python's)
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Spartan

Curse the fact that Life of Brian only has two DVD releases: a $7 non-anamorphic one, and a $30 anamorphic Criterion one. Sure, I'd rather have anamorphic...but for the price of a Criterion DVD? Naaaaah. Besides, it's not like I have a widescreen TV at the moment, nor will I likely have one for years to come anyway.

Click here. Comes out in Europe the 28th of this month. I don't believe a US release has been announced yet. I guess in Canada it comes out December 6th, so I'd expect the US one to be around the same time or even the same day. Me, I'll just import it from BullMoose.com for $14.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is the greatest game ever conceived, hands down. This is Miyamoto's prime masterpiece. He really got goofy and out of whack after this, making some good games, but none of them really all that great (save for the two N64 Zeldas). I'm hoping that Zelda: Twilight Princess will be a fantastic game and a reminder that Nintendo really is the greatest game developer around...but who knows. Besides, if it is, that's only one game. Nintendo's lost its magic.

The Rock's not a good action star? He's very good in The Scorpion King, and he's good as Sarge in DOOM. The movie, by the way, is hated too much by critics. It's a fairly good action movie, reminds me a bit of Aliens, though obviously not as good. But it was worth a watch and had some entertaining parts.

No, their last album came out a year ago, and as I understand it, all or most of the songs on this new album are left over from the recording sessions of the last album. And they toured a lot for their last album

...in Europe, giving no love to North America.
