Evil Dead 1-3 and Bubba Ho-tep he was the star, and those are some of the greatest movies ever. And he's cameoed in several great movies. Bruce was originally supposed to play Darkman...but Universal wouldn't allow it. Darkman (the movie) was also supposed to be way crazier...but again, Universal got in the way. Oh well; with all its flaws, it's still a really fun movie. (edited by Abnormal Freak on 08-02-05 10:01 AM) (edited by Abnormal Freak on 08-02-05 10:02 AM) |

\m/ Miss Machine \m/ Easily DEP's best album...and a very unique metalcore album at that. |

I heard that 12 Monkeys has a Chemlab poster in the background in one scene... This intrigues me. Never seen the movie. Evolution, Miss Machine is definitely worth it. Fantastic album. "Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants" is the best song on it, IMO, but the rest is very good as well. 40 minutes of bliss. (edited by Abnormal Freak on 08-08-05 04:30 PM) |

The Rock starring as a white, blond-haired cartoon character? OK.

Silent Hill is going to be the greatest game-based movie ever, and it's going to kick lots of ass...so I hope. It sounds promising... Christophe freaking Gans, he can't let me down.

I've been wanting to see Super Mario Bros. and Street Fighter lately. Haven't seen those movies in ages. They were pretty atrocious, but fun in a way, in a really crappy way. I'm sure I'd enjoy watching them a lot. Mmmm... Kylie Minogue as Cammy.

Concerts have gotten tedious and boring for me. Sure, I like seeing some of the bands I love...but by the time they play, I'm usually kind of tired out by standing and watching and listening to all of the opening bands, which usually don't thrill me. That and shows cost quite a bit of money...more money than to go see a movie, which I enjoy more than concerts, but rarely ever go and do. That said, though, I'll be going to see Coheed and Cambria the next time they play in Minneapolis, which is in October. They'll be playing with dredg (whom I love) and The Blood Brothers (whom I like), as well as mewithoutYou, whom I've never really paid attention to or listened to, so I don't know if I'd like them, but probably not. Then Nine Inch Nails also plays in October...and it's in a stadium, which I've never seen a show at before. I oughta go get tickets soon... I might be going alone, though. I doubt anyone else would pay to go see them with me. And then in November, Bauhaus plays. I might like to go see them. |

It'll be anamorphic widescreen and contain the Japanese language track (with English subtitles, of course). I'm thrilled!

I don't see why so many people like the Cowboy Bebop dub or even prefer it over the sub... The guy who plays Spike is stiff as a board, without any kind of range whatsoever. He has a cool sounding voice, but he can't act. Jet sounds like a total turd, instead of the caring, almost fatherly quality of the Japanese voice, and Faye simply does not sound that sexy or intimidating. The English voice for Ed ain't bad at all (it's actually real similar)...but I still think I prefer the Japanese voice. Mononoke's dub is done pretty well. Ashitaka sounds very much like the Japanese voice, and I love the guy who does a number of the extras, one of them being Kohroku the ox-driver. He's an AMAZING voice actor (I don't know his name or if he's done voices for anything else), but other than him, I much prefer the superior Japanese track. (Gillian Anderson, as hot as she is and as sexy as her voice is, just didn't do very good acting...that and I wouldn't wanna think of Moro as sexy. The Japanese voice is more fitting: old and bitter.) I prefer subs over dubs. Usually, they're far superior, both in dialog/meaning and voice acting. There are some hideous dubs out there, one of them being Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (why they went and changed the entire nature of the parasite hand, I don't know), though it, like a lot of crappy dubs, has a good voice actor, in this case being Dwight Schultz who played Benge and the Old Man of Barbarois. I can't wait for the sub of this movie to be released towards the end of this year. (For those who will retaliate and say that the English track is the original one, you're wrong--it just got recorded first and was shown to the public even in Japan before the Japanese track was. All of the dialog was rewritten from the original script.) The thing is, a lot of US companies just don't seem to care that much about voice acting. That or they just really suck at deciphering who's good and who's not. In Japan (in many cases), it seems that they care a lot about who they pick for certain roles, and the actors themselves put a lot of heart into their acting to convey the emotions and/or nature of the character and so forth. One thing I like about Japanese voice actors is they overemphasize/overact their parts. It's a way of putting a lot of expression to the drawings. I like that. However, one dub I really love is the one for the Macross Plus OVA (my most favorite freaking anime ever). I've watched it multiple times over the years, and I really like the voice acting and the dialog. I only just saw the sub about a month ago, and I don't think I like it as much as the dub. Of course, maybe that's just because I'm so used to the dub that that's kind of the way the series is meant to be in my eyes (and ears). I own very few of my own. My brother owns most of the anime in this house. But I have... Blood: The Last Vampire Macross Plus OVA Vampire Hunter D I'll be buying Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust when the sub gets released towards the end of this year. |

They're pretty good. What I've heard of Ascendancy is a vast improvement from their first album. The trouble with Ember to Inferno is all of the songs follow the same formula and sound near identical. With their sophomore album, they seem to have mixed it up more, actually throwing in some variation.

Pfffft. :p The newer albums are just crap to my ears. They're the sort of albums that are fun, but nothing else, and usually the fun factor of those albums wears out over time and repeated listenings. That and the fun isn't as high as some of the older albums, and they don't have the great songs to go with the fun. But I only like a few KMFDM albums... Their earliest ones are neat, but I don't listen to them much. The only ones I really love are NIHIL, XTORT, and Symbols. Anyhoo...I think NIN's TDS has aged very well. It's still my favorite album, the songwriting and production still kick ass. I love it. |

The thing about Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is I didn't really care that it didn't resemble the games. The story was kind of crap, but I didn't care about that either. It's such a fun movie to watch. The visuals are fantastic. And yes, a Silent Hill movie, directed by the same dude who directed Brotherhood of the Wolf. That fact alone gives me a huge boner. |

Since Akira Yamaoka (the dude who does the music for the games, perhaps my favorite video game scores) is doing the original score. YES!

...Wow. I don't play games much anymore because I don't find them to be all too captivating. That and I seem to more enjoy games that are simple and stylistically fascinating. Well, this game wins on both accounts. It's also pretty messed up, which is totally fine by me. Anyone else played it? Whaddya think? |
