What in the world is the New Wave of American Heavy Metal? Did you make that up yourself? KsE is metalcore--that is, hardcore metal. It's kinda similar to hardcore (which already is the fusion of punk and metal)...but a hell of a lot more metal. KsE is an OK band, but there are a lot better metalcore bands out there. And metalcore's been around for quite a long while...it's only recently been making it bigger in the mainstream, almost replacing nu-metal, it seems.

I ordered these CDs because I'm cool:

The Birthday Party - Hee-haw
The Birthday Party - Prayers on Fire
The Birthday Party - Junkyard
The Birthday Party - Mutiny/The Bad Seed
Corrosion of Conformity - Deliverance
Strapping Young Lad - Alien

Bruce Dickinson wannabes are not cool. Actually, in my opinion, the man's the only one who can pull those vocals off well. I don't like these vocals, or Queensr

I just said Bruce Dickinson pulls the vocals off well. He's the frickin' man, and that said, it should be assumed I like Iron Maiden, and I do. But Edguy does not interest me.

Bruce doesn't use that irritating falsetto shit that his imitators use. The dude's got excellent range. I dunno...I just like his voice. All other power metal-type vocals just piss me off.

What did Tarantino have to do with it? I don't see his names in any credits online.

I want to go see this movie. Soon...even though I know absolutely nothing about it except that it's based on a comic, the comic's creator had a large amount of control over it (right?), it's dark and grotesque, and Robert Rodriguez co-directed it...reasons enough for me to see it.

I love the new Norma Jean album. It's produced by Matt Bayles, who's produced Botch, Mastodon, and Isis. He's an incredible producer, he gives bands a very "fiery" sound (especially in the bass guitar). I haven't listened to Norma Jean's Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child very much at all to form a solid opinion, but what I've heard hasn't been all too special. Upon first listen, I enjoy the new album a lot more.

Norma Jean has more than just two albums, though. Before releasing BLM&KTC, they were known as Luti-Kriss.

When he was sitting there with his limbs cut off, I leaned over to my brother and screamed (well, y'know, one of those whispering scream type things), "FROOODO!!!"

Lame.

Sin City, however, is a kick ass movie. Loved it. Marv's tale was the best, Marv being the big dude seeking revenge for Goldie.

CD.
The Kovenant/Covenant - Nexus Polaris
Stabbing Westward - Ungod

The SW one was a dollar. I'm soon to make a pretty hefty haul...

DVD.
Short Circuit

Need to get more money to buy the Adult Swim DVDs coming out, and the ones already out that I don't have.

EDIT: Ah, here we go... The rest of them.

Acid Bath - When the Kite String Pops
Bodies in the Gears of the Apparatus/Despised Icon - Split
Carcass - Heartwork
Cephalic Carnage - Exploiting Dysfunction
Cephalic Carnage - Lucid Interval
Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies
Circle of Dead Children - Exotic Sense Decay
Circle of Dead Children - Human Harvest
Corrosion of Conformity - Wiseblood
Despised Icon - The Healing Process
Ed Gein - It's a Shame...
Extol - Undeceived
Faith No More - King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime
Gorguts - Obscura
Mastodon - Lifesblood
The Number Twelve Looks Like You - An Inch of Gold for an Inch of Time
Opeth - Still Life [digipak]
Pentagram - Relentless
The Red Chord - Clients
Zao - Where Blood and Fire Bring Rest

I also did what I'd never thought of doing anytime soon, and that's purchase some vinyl records--two singles and an EP. Which ones?

Lucky Pierre - Fans and Cameras
Lucky Pierre - Stetsons
Lucky Pierre - Communique

Why? 'Cos this is Kevin McMahon! Most of the songs on the Communique EP later got re-recorded for Prick's self-titled...one of my top 5 favorite albums. Prick's The Wreckard, and LuckyPierre's ThinKing are also excellent, great, magnificent, fantastic CDs. So I'm obsessed...and I need more!

No turntable yet... I'll have to go to my friend's, see if I can listen on his. Anybody know a turntable that's fairly inexpensive but really good? Where would I buy it?
