My copy should come today. I paid for 2-day air shipping... Pre-ordered from GameStop.com, they shipped sometime on Monday. Getting tons of goodies. GameStop has a soundtrack bonus for the game, but pay $10 more and you get loads of other stuff that seemed fine, neat, and nifty. Can't wait to play the game...

And what is up with this? RE4 chainsaw controller? Ha! NubyTech's PS2 Street Fighter controllers are great, but this thing here sounds a bit ridiculous. I wonder exactly how you use it...

Update: Got it, but GameStop didn't ship me the soundtrack. :\ Sent an email about it... Uuuggghhh. Nice tin though...

EDIT (again): Apparently the soundtrack is the one for RE: Apocalypse and not a game soundtrack. Now I don't feel so mad I didn't get it...but still, I am a bit mad. ;p

Gonna go play the game now. :D

I rented that game once. Played it for a couple hours...and couldn't help but think just how bad it sucks. That's a poor game... I get my kicks from Siren, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil instead.

Played almost 11 1/2 hours game time so far, and that was all yesterday. (Well, I mean, I played till about 6 a.m. this morning...but I hadn't slept yet, so I still count it as yesterday! I did sleep when I stopped, though...) Actual play time is longer (taking into account the times I've died, or even reloaded and stuff like that). This game is AWESOME. Freakin' sweet. Everyone with a GameCube ought to own it. It's probably my favorite GCN game.

All those enemies in the castle sound like they're saying "cockhead."

Yeah, um, I dunno... There's no particular order to this, just a bunch of albums I've really enjoyed.

The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine
Less technical and chaotic than their previous stuff, but with better songwriting, and the best and most fitting vocalist they ever had. (Mike Patton was cool with DEP...but dammit, Greg's cooler for the band.) More melodic at parts than old DEP, and I'm convinced that "Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants" could be a radio smash hit.

Felix da Housecat - Devin Dazzle & the Neon Fever
Kind of retrooo electrooo... Felix is known for his digital recordings and remixes and such, but for this album he uses mostly analog synths, and throws in guest musicians to play drums and geetar and such as well. It's a very varied synth album.

haloblack - throb.
Dark electro. Drug-infested. Sloooow-teeempooooo. Took 5 or 6 years in the making, or to get released anyway. bryan black was about as productive as Trent Reznor for those years, but wait...not really, as bryan had OTHER music projects to do along the line.

That game's rad. The music's also rad; I downloaded it off Soulseek. A lot of slsk users have it.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'd actually written this in my LJ back in November:

Ico. It's not just a video game. It's a work of art. This scenic game is so aesthetically pleasing, it...gives me wood! You play this boy who's born with horns, as some wicked queen put a curse on this town where every once in a while, a child with horns is born. Anything that goes bad in the town--like for example an unfertile harvest--gets blamed on the horned kid, so he grows up with, you know, lots of people hating him and stuff, so it sucks for him...but then on his 12th birthday, he's brought to the castle as like...a sacrifice! To the queen. For her to, you know...be pleased for a while. Or something.

And so...you escape from your confinement! And you're in this castle...this BIG castle...and you run into this girl, who's entrapped, and turns out to be the princess, and she's all good and stuff...but the queen is like, you know, EVIL. So you free the princess from her birdcage (yup, she was in a big birdcage-like-cage) and ya run around this GLORIOUS (but dangerous and crumbling) castle, where everything is structurally accurate 'cos the guy who designed the game is an ARCHITECT. THAT's what makes this game so beautiful, is the totally rad castle, the lighting, the textures, the faint ambient sounds... Like right now I just came to a part where there's some soil and grass and the like, and there's a pond, with a big ol' windmill that's rotating, and you gotta climb up it...and it's just fantastic, I can't hardly describe how moving it is. I don't even like games much anymore, but this one is so appealing.

And so (yet again, 'cos it starts off paragraphs well)...you run around the castle, holding the princess' hand (and she stands quite a few inches taller than you, it's really cute), figuring out puzzles on how to get past an obstacle, helping the princess across large gaps and up high walls, trying to get to the end where you escape the castle, all the while with these black shadowy monsters coming after you ever so often, trying to take the princess away. So you gotta fend 'em all off...with a piece of wood! That's ALL you have! (Well, for most of the game. Eventually you do get a sword...and it cuts 'em down so fast.) It makes it so believable... This little kid who just wants to get out of there with the girl with him, and all he has to fend off evil is a piece of wood. He's so vulnerable and gets shoved and knocked around a lot.

It's beautiful...it just is. When there are breaks from monsters attacking you, it's nice to just stop moving and absorb the scenery. Look around and view the architecture of this grand, stunning castle and its surroundings. (The castle is on top of a big cliff, by the way, with water waaaay, way below, and some mountains surrounding, and a sea in one direction.)

Ico is like one long, gigantic "dungeon" level in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, one of my favorite games. Can't wait for the new Zelda game in development, it looks so unbelievably phenomenal... It'd be great if they got Ico's designer to design levels and such for the new Zelda.

Also can't wait for the next "Ico" game. (It's not exactly Ico, although originally it was being called Ico II: Nico. Now, however, it's being called Wanda and the Colossus, I think.) In it, you play this dude who goes around big fields on a horse...and there are giants, really big freaking giants, that you have to figure out ways to climb up onto and reach the top (their head) and kill them, by (I think) stabbing them in the back of the head. Fun! Can't wait...

I'm really glad I saw this game at some obscure Best Buy for $15 and had my brother get it. I'd have gotten it, but didn't have the money. It's rad, though.

Can't wait for Wanda and the Colossus. AND the new Zelda. Friggin' A!

So there's the one for the Nintendo DS, and a second PlayStation 2 game. Both being produced by Koji "IGA" Igarashi, well fancy that. Hopefully the PS2 game will be a vast improvement upon Lament of Innocence, which isn't the great 3D Castlevania game that he promised. (As it stands, I still hold the N64 games to be better, and more Castlevania-feeling at that. That and the castle in CV64/Legacy of Darkness is stunning and accurate, meaning it makes sense as an actual castle design, and that gets overlooked...) Supposedly some members from the Silent Hill team (although there might still be two teams, because they split up--one worked on SH3, and the other on SH4) will be working on it, at least in the visuals department, so it should give the game a dark look. The screenshots I've seen have all looked really crummy, but I'm hoping the game will improve greatly as they develop and not look like such garbage.

Now, the NDS game... A direct sequel to Aria of Sorrow. That's fine by me, I rather enjoyed AOS, it's the best GBA Castlevania, and Soma is a pretty rad character. And I like side-scrolling games. IGA does too, so, I hope he'll make a current or next generation 2D Castlevania after this 3D one he's making. Although I'd like to see some other talent, too. IGA is not the god of the Castlevania franchise... Actually, I think he gets praised far too much for what he's accomplished (which is: direct and produce one excellent game, Symphony of the Night, and then go and make two let-down games and a decent one). None of his ideas are original, and he puts down other Castlevania games too much. But I can put that aside...

Right. Michiru Yamane will be doing the music for the PS2 game, of course, and that I'm really excited for.

How can one say AOS is the worst for GBA? It kicks HOD so hardcore in the face there's blood all over the dancefloor.

I've already made rants of how IGA's ideas are all unoriginal, and that he seems to have a huge Metroid fetish (it didn't just stop with the basic design of SOTN and so forth, but the soul-capture thing in AOS reminds me too much of the parasite absorbing in Metroid Fusion), so I won't go into it here, it's so tiring. I still like his games to some degree.

I wish I could play Dracula X--the original game, anyway. The one for SNES is good, but I'm told the level designs are different and so on. I thought with releasing Castlevania Chronicles they'd make it a small little series and release a second one, being The Rondo of Blood. But they didn't.

I've seen the so-called director's cut of Blade Runner, and it's stunning. (It takes out Harrison Ford's narrative, which apparently Universal or whoever funded the movie made the director put it, and supposedly Ford did the narrative real crappy on purpose...so I heeeaaar. Can't say for sure if it's true.) That movie's got neat visuals, awesome music (hooray for Vangelis), and an ending that actually made my eyes a bit teary. I guess I have a thing for androids and computers that "feel"... 2001: A Space Odyssey made me tear up a little when HAL was being shut down.

What's the button configuration? The GameCube version pisses me off so much with the backwards use of the A and B buttons. B ought to be shoot, A jump... How could they goof on that?

I'm hoping that with the PS2 version, square is shoot and X is jump.

This'll be great, 'cos I never got to play X2 and X3. The only ones I've played are the first and X4, the latter being somewhat fun but not a great game or anything. (Same goes for MM8.)

Good to know.

The G4TV interview is exclusive to the GameCube version, right? And is it the ONLY thing exclusive to the GameCube version, while the PS2 version has everything else plus one episode from an anime? If so, I'll just do the requirements to see the interview and go on and get the PS2 version.

Oh...not an anime? Is it that show that aired in the US in the mid '90s? That show was bad. :( I thought maybe someone had come up with a kick-ass Mega Man anime, because some of the PSX games (including the re-release of MMX3...or maybe it was X2) had anime cutscenes... Maybe not, though.
