I just got myself an X-band off of Ebay. I haven't played with it yet, just unpacked it. What is the best way to see if its SRAM data is still intact? Also, what is the best way to dump the data? I have a SWCDX2, GDSF7, and a Tototek SNEX Kit. From looking at pictures of the X-band's PCB on SNES Central, I see that they used a battery holder for their coin battery. I wish other SNES carts did the same. It sure as hell would make cart preservation allot easier.

Also, I am not sure if this was mentioned, but is part of the plan to be able to directly connect the modem to a PC that proxies the X-band's protocol over the net? That would surely save on long distance bills

Yeah, I was the one that sent the email. With regards to latency, what latency can the X-band deal with one-way? Less than 50ms? This is definitely a project that will require two phone lines, for testing purposes.

If nobody bids on it, I'll take it. It will be interesting to see if it really was never connected to the X-band servers. If so, what would be in the SRAM?

Just get the Super Flash 64M Cart from Tototek.
Here is the seller:
http://tototek.com/

Here is a detailed page about the kit:
http://www.tototek.com/pio/main1/SUBMENU/PARTS/LINKS/OS/superflash.htm

It lets you write ROMs to the cart via a parallel port and a special circuit board that comes with the kit. The cart circuit board itself can be placed inside any SNES or SFC cart shell. Since it uses flash RAM chips, you can rewrite games over and over again. Also, the programmer board can be used to dump carts and save games to your PC.
