Hey! What's up? My name is Brandon, I enjoy ROM hacking, programming, webdesign, disassembly, reverse engineering, internet programming. Anyway, Id just thought I'd introduce myself. I love to make tools that make things easier for other people. I been into ROM hacking since I was 12, but have went in and out of it because I just been busy learning other things. I am sorry if I caused any panic yesterday when I gained admin access to the board. I was simply taking an exploit I found a little too far. I just want to assure everyone I had no intent of wrecking anything or messing anything up. I reported the problem(s) to Acmlm, and he assured me everything is cool. For everyones information i'm a whitehat hacker, which means i'm a GOOD computer hacker, one who looks for problems in systems and then reports them to the administrator. It just so happen I found 2 exploits in Acmlm yesterday. They should be patched soon if they aren't already. I just wanted to clarify I had no bad intentions. Seems like people see the words "Computer" and "Hacker" in the same sentence and they freak out. Well enough rambling on about that. I mostly make Pok

Simple, the tilesets in Gold/Silver are compressed using the same compression used to compress the little battle pictures in the game (As described in Necro's Document). Now the only reason the first few tilesets don't look compressed in the least bit is because they are using control code 00, which just simply takes raw graphics data and puts it onto the buffer.

I have the same soundcard and used to have the same problem. I solved it by turning down the hardware acceleration to the lowest it could go. Creative isn't very good at making device drivers, thats all I have to say.

How old is your videocard? Make sure the fan on it isnt dead or clogged with dust. Then make sure the socket it's plugged into is free of dust. If problems persist then try setting the hardware acceleration down. And if your card has something about disabling 'fast writes' then disable that. If the problem still comes after all that, try installing the latest drivers. And last check your power supply, it could be crapping out. I remember when my powersupply was crapping out my computer would randomly reboot and shut off.

Posted on 07-20-05 02:13 AM, in Scary computer experiences Link
I've had a few computers do some scary stuff, my most scariest would have to be last month. It was a horrible thunderstorm out and I figured i'd better shut my computer off, as im waiting for XP to shutdown....It takes forever! A huge bolt of lightning struck very near to my house, it caused the monitor to buzz. Finally XP decided OHHHH i'm going to shut down now! Later as the storm went away, I go to turn on my computer and what do I see on the screen when it reboots...'Error loading OS...Press any key to reboot.'. Now I have never seen this error before, and frankly I didnt think it would ever happen to me. Luckily I had an XP recovery CD and used fixmbr and fixboot and also ran scandisk. Which seemed to fix the problem because everything booted up fine. I did notice though, all the changes I made to my desktop the day before did not save.

Another time I was scared I broke my monitor. Well I was drinking Code Red Mountain Dew next to my computer, and since I only have two hands, I needed to make use of them at the keyboard. Well my desk was cluttered and I had no where else to put it, but hold it in my mouth with my teath. After a few minutes I forgot it was in my mouth and let out of laugh and the pop fell on my lap, bounced up a few inches and sprayed soda all over the monitor, all over the keyboard, all over the inside of the monitor and then im like ! OHH CRAP!. So I shut my computer down. And when I tried to load it back up, the monitor wouldnt turn on. Nothing on the screen. I was so frustrated i just went to sleep. Next morning I turned it on and it worked fine.

And then there was this other time, I thought it would be a good time to get an anti-virus software with all the crap I had been visiting on Internet. So I figured why not get Macafee. Everything seemed to install fine. But when I rebooted, all I saw was a little blinking cursor in the top left corner of my screen after the windows logo appeared. Apparently an option to scan the ENTIRE harddrive before bootup was set by DEFAULT! Go figure! So finally after going nuts, I remembered safemode, and loaded windows with safemode, before it could execute AUTOEXEC.BAT. Uninstalled Macafee. I tell you, any anti-virus software with that option set by default is nuts! Drives are not 512 MB anymore! They are 20,40,80,100,120 GIGABYTES.

This other time with my first computer, it was only a month old, and I had got it for christmas, it was built by this place called DIT computers. Little did I know they put the wrong motherboard in it and it fried itself. Well one day the computer wouldnt bootup. You would press the button, and you could hear fans, and then sometimes. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. Anyway we took it back to DIT and they replaced the motherboard and the videocard which was a peice of shit.

Thats about it for my scary computer stories. Peace.

Ack, Windows ME Is a very horrible operating system. Its based on the old DOS codebase and it's very unstable. I'd suggest getting a different OS fabio.

You should order parts from Newegg.com, They always have great deals and very reliable shipping and good stock. I've built custom PC's from them a few times before.

Yeah, i'm sorry for that foolish mistake. I was not aware new egg didn't ship out of the United States. Most sites i've seen will ship almost anywhere in the world. Ohh well, good luck getting that computer working.

Well, i've been hacking the pokemon RPG games recently. But I enjoy rom hacking anything that's worth a good challenge. And I'm unbanned now, I just have to report any exploits I come across instead of acting upon them.

Well, I am reposting this because it got removed before. ||bass was trying to make a point to me that hacking this board is a very bad idea and will NOT be tolerated. Anyway, like I said before, this program will edit Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed and LeafGreen.

I have no idea dude, I had that same problem in C# when one of my control codes was off or I didn't decompress it.

Sound's like a problem with your pagefile. I would check to make sure you have a C:\PAGEFILE.SYS file present on your system. Make sure inside windows folder options you have it set to view system files, otherwise you wont even see PAGEFILE.SYS. But since it just started out of nowhere it might be signs of impending harddrive fKitten Yiffer and I would backup as much as you can just to be on the safe side.

Posted on 07-29-05 02:10 PM, in Which Files are New in 1.A3? Link
I worked with ||bass to get a few of those include exploits patched. Although I can't disclose what they where because that could destroy the integrity of some of the other Acmlm boards. I was working on my own version of Acmlm, but the code made my head about to burst and I thought it might just be easier to start from scratch (just me though). I also found many files that have no purpose or use in 1.A3 but are there for future expansion. But id say if you are currently running 1.A3 you dont need any of the files with a underscore before them. "_users.php", etc.

Yeah, I don't really like stories like this because it leaves so many unanswered questions. Like what exactly killed the cat, why did the other kitten die, why exactly was the cat in the woods if they knew the cat. Also it makes me wonder if they accidentally killed the cat, cut it open, found kittens and then said they saved that kitten. It seems kind of strange they happen to be walking in the woods and find it while it was still warm. Or they could have also killed the cat and thought of having a fun little “operation game. Did they ever determine the cause of death of the cat? Somehow I don’t think those girls are as sweet as they sound. Maybe that’s just my negative perspective on the world. I just think it's really fishy sounding story.

You think your IQ accurately shows your level of intelligence? It’s the most inaccurate way I know of. No I think a more accurate test would test you in all areas, like what you do best and rate you in those areas. Not to mention how mentally stable you are, and possibly COMMON SENSE, which a lot of people don’t seem to have now a days. The fact that you stated your age is unimportant as well, especially since there are people younger who can do more and don’t state there age like it’s there downfall. Anyway this forum is not for flaming or telling you how I think the world should work. I guess if your inserting scripts make sure you’re inserting into blank areas and re-pointing stuff accordingly.
