Any XP (or even 2K) CD should work for system recovery, but if you reinstall you'll need that CD's key.

Well, as of yesterday I've had a nasty cold, which sucks an incredible amount. Someone find the damn cure already. Anyway, during the night, I kept having to wake up to blow my nose. (I finall fixed that, by stuffing some kleenex in the affected nostril. ) Well, one such occurrance happened while I was dreaming. In this dream, I was driving my dad's car (which was different than the car he really has), having just pulled out of the parking lot. Unlike most of my dreams, it was very realistic and I drove exactly like I do in reality. Well, as I was driving along I noticed I had to wake up and blow my nose. (Still, I didn't realize I was actually dreaming. I think I was expecting it to happen in the dream, not in the real world.) So I actually pulled over, put the car in park, woke up, and blew my nose. I wasn't even tired when I woke up. Weird, huh?

I wish I would have those... I've had 3 but I always wake myself up by brutally murdering the laws of physics. I never actually remember what happened last time, because I'm still asleep. (They're usually triggered by something that makes no sense at all, so I think it happens when the logical part of my brain turns on while I'm asleep for some reason. Usually, anything that happens in a dream makes perfect sense.)

My new layout in progress.
Total file size is 274KB (JPEGs compressed at quality level 4 in Photoshop). It's stretchable horizontally and vertically, and has a width of 687 pixels. (The titlebar resizes itself to the available space like the one I have now - in fact, it is the one I have now. ) Yes, the links are going to lead somewhere. They're all one big image, I intend to use image maps to make the links in order to save space. The Shippo pic on the left acts as an EXP meter, 'bouncing' off the bouncy thing at 0 and hitting the 1up at 100. I plan to add more sprites, these will all be part of the same image so file size shouldn't increase substantially.

So, I have a few things to ask...
1) Is 274K too big? How can I make it smaller without it looking like crap?
2) How do I get rid of those black lines between table cells? I generally use a series of divs to make things show up in the right place, but that's complicated and breaks in some browsers. *Cough*XK*Cough*
3) Like it?

Same here. I have a cold right now (I get them like every 6-10 weeks, it SUCKS). Any time I'n sick, my mom absolutely refuses to believe it unless I barf. (Even the messiest things coming out the other end won't do. It has to be barf.) That, or if I have a major fever, but she never checks. So now everyone at school has it too. Today I almost barfed a few times, and I've had to wake up during the night a lot to blow my nose. It's gotta be the worst disease ever, since you feel just horrible but it's usually not enough to get out of school or work, you can't breathe or lean forward (unless you want boogers everywhere), your body never creates an immunity due to its vastly varying nature, and for the same reason they still haven't cured the damn thing, which means they come back again and again and again...

I have to wonder, about the cure... They can't kill the virus, because it changes so much. But it always does the same things to your body. Extra mucus, goo in your lungs (makes you cough), etc. Why can't they make something to prevent those things from happening instead? You'd still get infected, but you wouldn't get any symptoms, and your body would eventually fight it off.

Add a score bar with the hit count being an EXP meter, and you've got a hell of a layout.

Hmm... I assume you could hack a BIOS? Just dump it, hack it like any other ROM (could even use an x86 emu to test), then flash it back. They don't have checksums or anything do they?
Anyone know if the HP Pavillion XG843 BIOS supports boot passwords? I don't see an option, but on the motherboard there is a spot for a jumper labelled Password, that if you were to short it it would enable a password. There isn't an actual jumper, but I could solder it...

Your editor doesn't have a search function? You can use the DiskWriter plugin for Winamp to convert it to WAV, then to MP3 with WinLAME.

There might be some variations to support their standards. Maybe their monitors are a bit different or 2-button mice are uncommon. Who knows?
