| If you're going to use that as a background you'll need either a light-coloured, large font or a BG window for the text like I have. (If you can get a transparent one to work that'd be especially cool, but those are hard to do without looking crappy.) For the BG with font, put this in your header: <table border=0><tr><td width=100% height=100% background="http://forumpetz.50megs.com/images/y6.jpeg"><font face="[FONT NAME]"> (Replace [FONT NAME] with the name of a good (IE not too thin) font, in quotes.) And this in your footer: </font></td></tr></table> I think that'll work, I'm not sure if it'll span the entire field though. | I doubt that. What I see happening is that a pipe leads back to earlier in the level, that simple. BTW: It's actually world 36. The trick works by making the game load the second warp zone data (world 5) instead of the first. (Why it does this, I don't know.) Each warp zone has to have 3 worlds defined, but Nintendo only wanted one. The game's code takes whatever world # they specify and draws it above the pipe. Nintendo simply put in 36, which causes the game to draw a blank space (character #36) so nothing appears there. (Then they removed the pipes. ) |

I imagine you'll be able to buy them at a reasonable price by the late 2060s. Hovercraft are easy enough to make, and you already can buy semi-flying cars for $50,000. They don't actually fly but they can be converted from a car to a small plane, and are both street and air-legal. |
The biggest thing is safety, and also how to make them actually fly. A helicopter-like system would probably be best, but I'm not sure how fast they can actually go. Personally I'd be impressed just to see hover-cars mass-marketed. Something that can go over land and water.

Geocities isn't bad; 3GB bw, 15MB storage. The ads are pretty easy to remove. There's nothing fancy like FTP or SQL though. |

Well since this thread is still here... I want to be able to check my IP remotely. I've installed TightVNC so I can do stuff like transfer files to whatever computer I'm actually using, but it doesn't do much good if I don't have the IP. What I thought I'd do is write a PHP script that writes the most recent IP to a file (clearing whatever used to be in the file). Using WinXP's ability to use HTML files as a desktop image without screwing everything up, I figured I'd simply make the background contain a reference to the file via image tag or some such thing. (Whenever the desktop loads, it tries to load the PHP file, which executes it.) So how can I do this? (In short: I need to know how to delete a file or clear its contents and write a variable to it. Also, for unrelated stuff, I'd like to know how to catch parameters in URLs, like '?something=pie&anotherthing=toast'.) |
