Did Battle City start with a space ship landing when you turned it on? I think I rented a game by that or similar name once; it wouldn't run at all on our NES, just rebooted constantly (which the lockout system does) while other games worked on it, so I wonder if it wasn't just a pirate whose lockout-bypass system didn't work on ours. (It worked for them, though.)

It only happens if you boot with the lid open? Weird.
Say, has anyone had a problem where the joysticks on their controllers don't work right? Mine (both controllers, IIRC) are doing it. If I push the joystick at all, it'll sometimes 'stick' (like if I'm writing stuff in Animal Crossing, it'll go quite a bit past the letter I wanted before stopping), also sometimes it acts like I'm holding a certain direction when I'm not. Unplugging it usually doesn't help, only holding X+Y+Start for a few seconds.

Back on topic, is there any way to play FS on the GBA LTTP with only one player? It says 2 to 4 players, so it must be possible to do 2/3-player, which means the AI would control the remaining players. So why not 1-player?

Well a (long) while ago, in WinXP, I mistyped a path and accidentally went to the non-existant folder "C:\D". This gave me the standard error message, as usual, but also another one complaining that it couldn't find the MSN Messenger EXE! I don't use MSN and as such deleted the program. One must certainly wonder why it was trying to launch itself... (I've since replaced it with a dummy program. When launched, it displays an alert showing the parameters, so that I can see just WTF it's trying to do. It's yet to happen again, though.)

Well, on this computer (not mine) MSN is used regularly, so I often find it left running. Of course, I simply right-click the icon and click Exit. Not a problem. 5 minutes later, an IM window appears! The tray icon has disappeared, but the program is still running. Even stranger is the presence of up to 3 programs at once; 'msmsgs.exe', 'msmsgr.exe' and 'messenger6.exe'. To add even more to the suspicion, if you try to close it while IE is open, it whines about "programs using messenger" and won't do it. Weird enough that I've never seen IE interact with it at all (except that when you go to Hotmail, it actually opens the program security hole waiting to happen), but go ahead and close it in the Task Manager; nothing breaks! And to serve as the icing on the cake, remember back when M$ forced all users to update and in the process locked out all old versions and unofficial clients, for undisclosed reasons? Hmm... (I even have unofficial reports that really old versions still work, too. )

Never seen a brownout (not enough power to go around) yet...
And yes, I hate both of those. My wavebird just kinda died after a brutal smash into the floor, but Nintendo products should be able to handle that . Plus I've had games freeze at the end. Once when my brother was playing Hey You Pikachu (XD) it crashed just after he caught a HUGE fish. Figures.

Talk about your contradictions. Other than the winter thing, King Of The Hill tells me that Texas is everything you said it isn't. (Not that I believe TV all that much. )

Oh, and I forgot to mention: One US dollar is not worth an incredible amount here. Maybe around $1.50, and dropping.

It should also be noted that Angelfire, Tripod and Freehosts suck major donkey balls and don't deserve to exist. As in avoid them. Geocities is alright, you get 3GB a month and 15MB of space (and you can always make multiple accounts if you need more ).

Posted on 07-23-04 09:50 AM, in Working on a YI Editor Link
Alright, well first of all, VB6 > VB.NET. Second, for those who say he should do this first and that later and so forth, let me tell you how I do things:
1) Create an interface. Not the interface, just something really basic. Usually little more than a form, a menu with Open, Close, Reload and Open Level, and a status bar.
2) Work on loading the level data and getting it all done right.
3) Work on loading the graphics, so you can tell what the level's supposed to look like.
4) Work on figuring out pointer tables and headers, so the levels are loaded just like in the game instead of having to give it an address, tileset, etc.
5) Get basic level editing working.
6) Add more features, updating the interface as needed.
7) Finish the interface.
8) Add extra features (ExGFX and such, anything not related to the main purpose of the editor).
Most importantly, though: Do what you're in the mood to do. If you feel like making an interface first, do it. Eventually you'll get bored of it and work on the code.

BTW: I hate to sound arrogant, but from what I see, I doubt you can pull this off. Even if you manage to do it, I still have an editor of my own on the back burner, I'll probably work on it a bit when I get home. We're talking serious hacking here, like take LM, port it to VB, and make it hack YI. I don't have any pics up, basically there's one of object IDs being drawn, and one of squares that are supposed to show their size.

Hmm, I hadn't thought of the protocol thing. I imagine one could pretty easily hack the programs to use SMW's, but then there's the issue of SFX.
Well, how versatile is SMW's program? If one knew the format of it and another program, I imagine it wouldn't be difficult to port the data, the question is can N-SPC do the kinds of things other programs would do? (Also you'd have to load new instruments. )
