Most of my dreams are in colour, normal sound, third-person. Some are first-person. Occasionally they're random flashes of colours that don't have any people or sounds at all. My dreams never have a "WTF?" aspect; even if it doesn't make sense or is impossible IRL, it's not at all unusual in a dream. I imagine it's because the logical part of my brain is off. I've had dreams where it would come on, I'd see something weird and know I was dreaming, but then I'd totally defy the laws of physics and wake up.

Ever notice the scorebar is on layer 3, in front of everything, but some castles have windows on layer 3 and they're behind everything? That's HDMA at work. (Built-in code, though; you can't edit it any way I know.) Hmm... Translucency uses colour addition/subtraction. Perhaps, if layer 2 scrolled the same speed as layer 1, and both were object layers (IE: not backgrounds) maybe you could look up the Map16 to find what block is in a certain position, find what palette it uses, and modify the palette of the block above it on the other layer (add/subtract the colours from the other palette) to fake a translucency effect? Of course, that'd mean only one block using that palette could be on the screen at a time, and it might slow the game down. |

I'm gonna get Zelda, the others aren't worth that much. (I also need to get LTTP. ) BTW: I had Star Soldier on NES. So there. I wouldn't mind having it for GBA. |

Wow, and I thought my crappy short-term memory was unusual. I can be doing something for hours, then get up to pee and suddenly wonder "wtf did I get up for? what was I just doing?" Also, I have everything Kyouji mentioned, or at least I think that's the official standing. Not sure about ADHD though. It does make me do some strange things, but it has some good side effects too. What I think it is is that the brain operates much more efficiently than normal. I base this on the fact that people I've met with this condition, including myself, tend to be pretty smart and think very logically. Now, the downside is that it's not really designed for this manner of thinking (almost like overclocking, you get better speed but sometimes instability as a result), so there are unusual results such as involuntary movement as well. (I also use a lot of energy with little movement, but maybe that's just me. ) As for my dreams, 99% of them are third-person, and they're often about video games. Recently I dreamed I was playing a Super Mario Bros 3 hack by BMF (BMF hacking SMB3? ), and it had some unusual features. At various points in the game, you could choose your form, and would always stay in that form (you were invincible). One form was 'SRAM Mario'; you're always Super Mario but have the ability to save the game. I usually used 'Always Tanooki Mario'. Well, it would seem beating the game in this form (which used a different form # than normal Tanooki Mario) would trigger an alternate ending, but it didn't exactly work. When you hit Bowser (you jump on his head), there was a loud bang and the screen would go black with no music for a while, then Bowser would come out on the overworld (modified SMW overworld), and the game would freeze. We discussed this, and came to the conclusion that the long delay was a loop waiting for something to happen, but it never did, because Bowser's castle was reduced by one story (rather, 20 feet) after the game was made, so Luigi never climbed to the right height. (And yet, this sequence never appeared, just black. I knew this because I'd had a conversation about how the castler was amaller before playing the game. I was on a balcony somewhere and could see the castle. ) Since it was the end of the game, Nintendo had put a timer on the loop to ensure such a problem wouldn't crash the game entirely; this timer would expire and automatically force the next scene. When bowser came onto the OW, the game froze because there were too many sprites. We'd decided on how to fix it, but I woke up around then. I wanted to see that too. (SMB3 hackers: Try beating the game in forms 08, 09 and 0A. You never know! ) |

So, Colleen... He specifically mentioned that the game was hentai. You could simply have closed the thread on that alone. Why, then, did you Google the game? So... Anyone played the Frank's Adventure series? (Hey, I got bored. ) #1 kinda sucked. 2 was alright, but it was easily possible to be stuck without enough money to get the last pic. (Had to buy -10 "gramms" of Coke from Wario, but word is they fixed that in some versions. I was using the one on 2flashgames.com.) 3 was just buggy and sucky. |

Hey, Jonwil's still alive! So, if I wanted to hack it to allow a bigger range, like say E00-FFF, how hard would it be? I have quite a few in there already, and I'm working on (well, when I get back in September) at least one block that'll span 2 1/2 pages alone. |

What you could do is go to a professional file recovery place and have them recover the file from before you did that by reading the traces of magnetism left on the disk, but that'd be way expensive. Seriously though, LM overwrites the old GFX, so you're not getting them back anytime soon. I suggest backing up all custom GFX files.

Well I know adding an SFX isn't gonna do anything on its own. That'd be like buying a new CPU and expecting your computer to go faster without installing it. I did indeed plan to do some ASM hacks to use it. I'll figure out all the DMA stuff when I get there. (SMW using up the vblank cycles won't be a problem, I don't intend to do anything major, except maybe as a minigame which will be a subroutine itself and not use SMW's code at all...

Zelda: OoT. I'd add a coupla zillion levels. Then, using my unlimited budget, I'd develop a system that paralyzes your body and reads any attempts to move, feeding them to the game. Your sensory input would be fed from the game. You'd be IN the game. (To get out, just clap twice to bring up the menu. ) Then I'd make even more money marketing that alone. (Think how fun chat rooms would be? ) ...Then of course remake just about every other game this way, starting with Mario Kart 64. |

Visible. You don't have the annoyance of unexpected battles, you can avoid weak enemies that aren't worth your time (or head back to an inn without being killed), and you get an idea of what you'll be fighting before the battle. (Sure, you can run away... Sometimes. "Couldn't run!" Sound familliar? Plus sometimes they whack you before you get a chance to move.) Mario RPG did an excellent job with it. Of course, that's a lot of extra sprites to render; sometimes it's not possible. In that case, I prefer Pok

So my brother was playing Animal Crossing... and his face disappeared. What he tells me is that he went to another town, shut down without saving, and erased the travelling data. When he started up agaih, he had no money, no items... and no face. Just 3 big circles. After saving and resetting again, it was back (but not the money and items). Weird?

You'd be surprised how thoroughly I've planned it. Long-Term Goals: Buy a remote tropical island (not too big, maybe the size of a house) and live outdoors on it. If I do it right, it'll be expensive to start, but nearly or totally free afterward. I'll have a small filtration system for water, solar panels/water-powered generator (depends on currents and sun hours) for electricity If this isn't an option, I'll probably just move to Japan or Hawaii. Short-Term Goals: Learn Japanese and visit Japan, learn PHP and C, get a car and go on a road trip. Make a heck of a lot of cash for stuff mentioned above. Marriage: We shall see. I know someone online; we're good friends and I trust she is who she claims (kinda hard to fake for what, 3 years now? ) but so long as we only know eachother online, I'm not about to plan anything major around her. You never know... (And of course, I could meet someone completely different. It'll be a good while before I even think of such things.) Career: I'd like to be a programmer for Nintendo. Failing that I'll simply develop and sell software at home. If that doesn't work out, there's hundreds of computer-related things I can do for a living, and other things besides that. (I always thought a helicopter pilot would be a nice job. ) |

Been through a hurricane. The rain was so thick, it looked like someone was just spraying the windows with a hose. It was the middle of the night but when lightning hit it literally looked like noon. The electricity was out for almost a week. (82 1/2 hours to be exact.) Surprisingly, no damage, except to the trees. Whole place reeked of pine for a long time. There was also ball lightning, way cool. Then there was the time lightning hit the driveway. Left a big black spot. Pretty scary stuff. Also, recently (here in Alberta) it's been raining like hell. (Well, I doubt it rains in hell, but you get the idea.) We spent all yesterday driving. (Went exactly 1201.28 km, or 750.8 miles, just to give someone a ride home. ) The rain was so bad at some points, we could barely see an inch. We spent most of the time doing 70 km/h - the speed limit was 110. A tornado hit around here, but I was quite far away at the time. No official injuries, but some buildings and cars were damaged. (Not ours, thankfully. ) |

I was told it was just too much stress on the server. I've suggested that it be re-implemented now that the database is smaller and we're using a less populated server, but nothing's come of it yet.

No, my mouse sucks and I find keyboard shortcuts easier and faster. (Plus I tend to move the mouse around randomly when reading. ) The only time I do is in Lunar Magic to go to the level an exit points to, because there's no other way to do it. (Hint, hint...)

Windows marks the file as deleted. The space occupied by the file is now considered empty, so when Windows needs space to put a new file, it will overwrite that file's data (if that so happens to be the place it finds to put the new data). This means a freshly-deleted file is still on the disk, Windows just ignores it and eventually it gets overwritten. BTW: Hard disks work just like floppies, with magnets. |
