No music at all, or just from DVDs? I'd be wondering if this particular disc has some sort of copy protection that's accidentally been triggered and your drive's straining itself to death trying to play it, or even something strange about the way it's burned/pressed (I know you said it's original but it still has to be burned at some point). |

Yes, I did notice a bit more stupid people, spam, and other basic stupidity. There's a small flood of stupid people, nothing that can be helped, but they never last too long anyway. All the spam, stupid threads, etc is tied directly to this. Ride out the storm, and things should start getting less stupid. (Banning some of the really dumb ones might help too.  )You also need to consider that it's almost June. People are busy cramming for/taking final exams, doing homework, etc. Not as much time for posting or hacking.

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! IT'S BURNING MY EYES! -With the exception of the 3 SMB hacks and WC2K4, they all look pretty pointless. Yipee, he hacked swear words into the text. Ono, he changed the palette. -Freewebs sucks hard. The least you could do is make an attempt to kill the ad at the bottom. On the other hand the SMB hacks look nice.

That's impossible, layer 4 can't be used unless all layers are in 2BPP mode. As I understand, it's the same basic setup as SMW: Layer 1 is the level, 2 is the BG, and 3 is either more BG stuff (big moving clouds, etc) or things in front of the level (flowers in 1-1), usually not very detailed since it can only do 2BPP. In SMW, layer 3 was the scorebar, but since in YI that's hidden during the game, they can use it for special effects. |

1) Almost. The CPU is backward-compatible, but the GPU and APU aren't, so you'd have to write new sound/graphic engines. (Which is how SMAS was made, BTW.) I think Nintendo wanted the SNES to be NES-compatible, but it didn't work out. |
2) Why? FCEUd works fine. If you want to play it on a real SNES, you can probably rig up some sort of hardware system with the NES's APU/PPU, if you're good enough with electronics. (And if not, I don't see how you plan to make a rewriteable cart in the first place, plus why not make one for NES instead?)

Hey, what text editor did you use for labelling anyway? I couldn't help noticing that even the smallest ROMs disassembled produce some very big ASM files, and Notepad sucks at big files. |
