Looking through the change log in SMW's help file, as well as a few recent posts, has given me a few ideas for LM... -A keyboard shortcut to move objects between layers 1 and 2. (Or is there at least one to switch between editing layers 1 and 2?) -An ASM hack to set specific values for the FG/BG positions instead of just 4 settings. -A hack that allows you to specify a value for the CGADSUB register upon loading the level. (You don't need to actually add proper display support, it'd be nice but a lot of work. ) -Support for some sort of file containing a list of level names to display in the titlebar. |

I don't see how an AV would cause it. A bad hard disk maybe. (In particular, the circuit panel on it is probably screwed up.) Try booting up in safe mode and just kinda letting it run, see if anything happens. Also does it ever happen when you're offline? Could be another one of them remote holes M$ is so famous for. |

I sometimes put the cereal box in the fridge and the milk in the cupboard. Probably the dumbest though, was when I was about 5, there was a rake laying spikes up on the ground, so I stomped on it to make it fly up into my face, to see if it'd hurt. It did... |

Apparently this guy values the security of his data more than the computer itself. Gotta make you wonder. When I want to hide something I just keep it hidden in important-sounding folders buried deep in system directories. Or if you use an older version of Windoze, you might wanna keep it in a hidden folder on the Desktop, since in other folders it'll say "plus x hidden" in the status bar. (But the Desktop has no status bar. )

Here's an idea for ya: A No Smilies Allowed tag! Say anything between the [nosmilies] and [/nosmilies] tags would be ignored when replacing smilie codes. Also, Javascript's enabled several places in the profile viewing page. |

If you're gonna do an enemy editor, you'll still need to draw the level to see where you're putting them. Then you may as well make a full level editor.

You can't rely on a program to do that sort of thing. Plus, the sprites are probably compressed.

Just wondering about a few things related to stuff in the game's memory. 1) Does the Map16 data contain the entire 0x1F screens, even if a level doesn't use them all? 2) In a layer 2 object level, where's layer 2's Map16 start? 3) Does Map16 still go from left to right, top to bottom in a vertical level? 4) Is there some code one can use or subroutine that can be called to determine the Map16 address of a block from within that block's code? 5) Where's the background's tilemap? 6) Is the in-memory CGADSUB ($40) set back to default when you leave a level? I played with it in ZSnes and all I can say is . 7) Are there in-RAM copies of other registers? 8) Just WTF does the "1/2 Colour Data" bit of CGADSUB do? [edit] To clarify, all of these are relating to RAM addresses. In #2 for example, I'm asking where in RAM the Layer 2 Map16 starts. You can't; ExGFX replaces the graphics. What you need to do is make some blocks out of those by editing 16x16 tiles, then make a level out of it. (You only need to edit 16x16 if you plan to replace them entirely; things like importing a different ground will work fine as long as you keep the tiles in the same place.)

That'd be nice too, but suppose you have several areas linked to make one big level. It'd be nice to be able to name them like "Yoshi's Island 1, Part 2". CGADSUB controls colour addition/subtraction. It's used to create the translucent effects in level modes 1E and 1F (and I think the spotlight in Bowser's Castle), and a few people (BMF, Kenny I think) have used ASM to modify it and create way-1337 effects such as spotlights and cracks of light coming from holes in the roof. Basically by setting it to certain values you can create neat translucency effects with the multiple layers. |

Hey, when you make all these changes are you gonna keep the database you have now? Cuz I was thinking of adding several addresses.
