Please check the dates before you post. This isn't too bad a bump, but be careful next time. And let's not forget about the other level design problems I pointed out. Nice site! Apparently there is some padding required. I'll try that... Bah. Still not quite working. I fixed it up to pad each scanline to 32 bits as the document mentioned:fwrite(&BMPData[ The car still comes out skewed (the opposite way ), but blue. Other images which worked before come out miscoloured: this comes out as this (notice the miscoloured disk and red light turned green). |

Is 5A22 not just a variation of 65816 though? Just as 2A03 is a variation of 6502? Oh yeah, forgot to mention, the SNES's APU (audio processor) is, if you didn't already know, the SPC-700. |

You could open them in a hex editor, sure. Depends what you want to do. As for re-compression, the only semi-working tool I know of is mine, which is near the beginning of the thread; you need to do a bit of hex-editing with the output before you can stick it back into the ROM, but it should do the trick. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Hey, as long as you guys are working on SMK, did you ever come across the pointers to the level names? I was hoping to repoint them so as to have more varied names (the dictionary compression and highly repetitive names leaves very little room for creativity). If you don't have them, don't bother going out of your way, I'll find them myself next time I decide to do something SMK-related. |

SNES ASM is basically NES ASM and then some. 65816 is an upgraded 6502 (more instructions, including several the 6502 really needed ), and SNES is quite similar to NES from what I've seen. (Pretty sure it was intended to be backward-compatible.) So you should really be able to start with either... if you're writing your own code, SNES might be a good start since the added instructions give you more flexibility, but if you're hacking it, you'll probably want to stick with NES for pretty much the same reason. |

Yeah, I intend to replace the x=0 with memfill() once it's working properly. The SetPixel() is only there to see if it's rendering right, it's actually pretty fast. And . is different from ->; in my experience, x.blah is used when x is a struct, and x->blah is used when x is a pointer to a struct. That's how I've been using them, anyway, and it's worked so far. |
