| I need a way to take whatever image the user currently has set for their desktop in XP, at whatever size it's being displayed at (in case it's being stretched - basically, take the image you would see if you had no taskbar, no windows and no icons) and draw various pieces of this image on device contexts. Is there a way to do this (or get the image's DC if nothing else) or do I have to manually load whatever file is being used and scale/tile it myself? (Active Desktop shouldn't be an issue; the program isn't meant to be used with one anyway.) Also is there built-in JPEG/GIF/PNG to BMP conversion code? I noticed that when you use one of these as a desktop image, Windows just converts it to a bitmap.  |

| Buuuuuuurn. It'd be kinda cool to run Windows or Linux on a Mac. Since Macs use all standardized hardware, it would significantly reduce hardware-related problems. Then you just need to have a version of that OS designed with Mac hardware in mind, and stability would skyrocket. (Probably 90% of bugs in any OS are due to having support for 8 billon different kinds of everything.  ) |

Thayer's post gives me an idea. You might be able to get a digital camera that can record from an external source through the USB port. Then return it for a refund when you're done.  |

Those would be my guesses but I'm not using Active Desktop or StyleXP. I'll just bet the problem is this 'XPDesktop' thing that installed itself with the video drivers (adds an item to the desktop right-click menu; it's some sort of virtual multi-desktop system I never use). Any idea how to get rid of it? It's not in Add/Remove programs.  |

| Alright! I got view #83211! Stupid ads. Anyway you ran out of bandwidth on that first pic. To comment on the pics I can see: Confusion: Neat. Some glitched dots on the blocks though. 3D: Looks difficult, but not all that 3D. Spike maze: You get to use a helicopter right?  Or is it just tricky jumps? The pic gives the impression that all the walls are completely covered in spikes.Puzzle: Gotta love those one-way gates. I like the background, it's like you're in a cave and there's a big hole there that you could get out through. A rarely-used, but rather neat perspective. Cave 2: Eh... Not much here. Tap-Tap: Why did you put this image on a different host?  Can't see this one either.Fly balls: Nice, but the background needs some colour tweaking. The white dots look like snow, which isn't really appropriate for what looks like tropical islands (not to mention a lack of snow in the FG). More puzzles: WTF is that enemy? And is the BG always like that, or are you just at a high area? It looks kinda crappy, but it makes sense if you're up high. Your SMB3 overworlds are nice (though I can't see the last one because it's on the other host ). I like how the second one moves right to left. |

| You're out of bandwidth because you used BMPs. Use JPGs or PNGs, and you won't have this problem nearly as often (nor will 56K users yell at you ). |

 Also, the taskbar doesn't make a difference, because the wallpaper goes under it anyway. I was just hoping I could draw directly from the buffer it uses to draw the image instead of having to locate and open it and tile/stretch it myself.

Only time I bumped a thread (8 months) was when someone linked me to it and I didn't know it was old. I deleted the post and all was well again. |
That said, it'd have to be when everyone was adminned; I went to change various peoples' powerlevels back, and accidentally changed Leg's password.  That was a dumb idea.
