| This argument is flawed. If you treat all the bits in a file as one single number, then just by changing one bit, you've created an entirely different number and thus the copyright does not apply, even if the output is exactly the same. It is in fact the output that's copyrighted. If you take an MP3 and convert it to an OGG, the file is completely different but the output is still the same, and thus the copyright still applies. | |||||||||||||

| I'll bet your firewall modified the HOSTS file to point those addresses to 127.0.0.1 (local system). Normally, this blocks them (your system returns an error because its not a webserver), but of course if you're running a server it'll request pages from that instead. | |||||||||||||

| I did this on the old board once. Except back then, I knew of a trick (that I don't think anyone else knew of, and which doesn't work anymore) to change the 'edited by x' text. So I didn't need to edit the post 800 billion times, just once, and copy and paste the edit message. Even add some fun stuff like fake dates/names. Kinda a shame you can't do it anymore, but it was a bit of a security risk. ...Poo. I was gonna put the edit page on auto-refresh, but it didn't work. | Here's Mine. It's a bit stretched since I just switched to 1600x1200 (19-inch monitors pwn, at least compared to 16); I can't really find any high-quality images of that person. (Maybe I should look. ) Normally I use a cool desktop with randomly-changing images and stats on it, but I'm in the process of remaking it. My desktop keeps switching back to the default blue one though.  The image is still selected but it doesn't show up until I go into the desktop properties and change something. Any idea what that's about?Oh and before you ask about the blanked-out icons, I can't tell you. Sworn to secrecy. Sorry. |

Mine is meant to look like a sort of OS/window manager. It has 4 windows: The post and my actual sig containing some links, a quote I made up, and Sloganizer; some links; the debug view which (if you couldn't tell) is my stats (I honestly don't remember which stat is which ); and a wootest button to fill space. Regarding the bugs,  ] The garbled text in the wootest window's titlebar is supposed to be Japanese, but the board keeps screwing it up.Oh and the revision number is real (changelog in my bio), and the word 'lite' is because people complained that previous layouts' images were too big (one was 100K, but I only used it for a week). Also try hovering over pretty much everything. I may make a Windows theme of this someday... The address idea is good, but just having people paste a big list of addresses in whatever format it's in (if that's how you're doing it) is not. What you'd want to do is have a database and an entry form, so that all the data is formatted the same way. Mine would look something like this:
Clicking the number would show or hide additional information such as who posted it, when it was posted, and any notes that go with it. For value lists, each list would be shown at the bottom of the page or on a separate page, and a link in the notes would link to the appropriate list. (Putting the lists in the notes isn't too great because multiple addresses can share a list, which would mean repeating it.) Also, it'd have a 'type' entry, to sort the addresses into categories like player info, enemy info, sound, etc. A user could choose to sort the addresses by address, description, author, date, or type, filter types (the main page would just list the types, along with an 'All Types' option, and the links would only show the specified type. ...I'll probably make something like that someday.
