| You do realize that to port a game, you need to know the location of EVERY piece of data, disassemble it, separate every last bit of data from code, and rewrite the code for the new CPU. Plus if you want it to still be editable by just changing offsets in the editor, you'll have to deal with any really stupid data formats you may find, instead of just making better ones. A better idea might be re-writing the game from scratch using code/data from the original, in order to make an optimized, less buggy version. |

Programming in C isn't all that easy. It might be a good idea to start with VB. As for editing things, it depends what you want to edit. |

 How many students are there? 50~100MB should be fine for most people (maybe use some compression too; install WinRAR or some such thing on all the computers and post tutorials). If the textbooks are all on the server, they should only take a few GB, not like every student needs a copy.

I've been considering reinstalling, but not because of that. More because of things like tooltips disappearing and things suddenly not working, the way Windoze likes to do. As for the RAM, would too much power really do that? I would expect it'd just crash. There's the original 128MB that came with it, plus 64 from some old school computer. I tried putting in another 128, but the clock speed was off (too high I believe), so it wouldn't run.

Well do they really need that much? Even with videos, some good compression should take care of that. Or they could use a little thing called video tape. |
 You could also give extra space to those who need it (students doing big video projects and such), I'm sure they don't all need 4GB.And just how many students are we talking about, anyway?

A hard disk might have a built-in low level format command (just give it a special command and it does it itself), but there's no need for it, since any generic one will do the same thing. Anyway, since you've solved the problem and appear to be arguing over trivial matters, I'll close this now. |

I like watching fire, but I can't stand it being really close to me. Like, I can go right up to a campfire just fine, just when it's really close, like lighting a match. I hate that. I somehow think it might be related to the coupla times I walked into the hot end of a cigarette as a child, not to mention the wood stove I poked once or twice. |

And FYI, I have plenty of music too, just most of it's in a nice compact .spc format, and a lot is RARed.I accidentally burned one of those porno mixes to a CD without listening to it all the way through. Nothing like your mom walking in just to hear "I want to fuck you like an animal" blast out the speakers. Last time I ever did that.

IIRC, the Genesis uses a Z80 for sound, correct? (That's what I've heard, and I did find one in mine.) How's that work, you just kinda pass it instructions? If you need any help with that, gimmie a shout. |
