Well I was working in Photoshop, and hit Ctrl+F to repeat the last filter, nothing unusual. But instead of doing that, the window moves and resizes. I hit it a few more times (not noticing, since I did it pretty fast) and not only was the image window messed, the entire PS window was now stretched past the top of my screen and under the taskbar on the right. |
 So I closed and re-opened that (the filters were applied btw, but it never actually redrew the image), and started working again. Out of nowhere, 8 "Search Results" windows pop up! They don't come onto the screen right away, just kinda flood into the taskbar. There's nothing in the actual results and no search is being performed. (At this point I disconnected from the Internet.  ) Is there some sort of virus that does this sort of thing? I've heard of Windoze having some odd bugs, especially with high memory usage (every time I right-click an item and go to Open in the Start menu, for example, I get a Move To prompt instead  ) but I just can't fathom how something like 8 simultaneous search windows being launched could happen accidentally.

I'm not sure about globally accessing RAM, but it's possible to read/write the memory a specific process uses. Use ReadProcessMemory() and WriteProcessMemory(). (I've almost got it working in VB. |

Nice graphics, but the font is a bit hard to read when there's a lot of text. I also agree you should use a less depressing level for the title. (restricted) |

Yes, that's how things like Cheat-O-Matic work. I think it's possible to make a section private, but I've never seen it done. |

First of all, a low-level format means wiping EVERYTHING. Second, if it's reporting that many more cylinders, it sounds like the logic board's cooked. And finally, I've been trying to find NTFS drivers for DOS that don't cost insane amounts for years. No results. |

Since when does Geocities use Java? I've been using it for years and not even had Java installed. Write the page in Notepad and upload it through the File Manager. |

Erk, please consider people who aren't familliar with DOS who might try that to fix something. |
First of all, back up everything, then reboot in DOS mode and do format c:\, then reinstall. But given that error, I would wonder if you have a virus; that's not like any runtime error I've seen, and it seems very unlikely that more than one program would use that style. (Plus, I don't believe Visual C++ has runtimes at all. )

 But that doesn't explain the windows resizing, reshaping, and not redrawing. I wasn't really looking for an explanation (unless it's a virus, which I doubt).

I don't recall what I was doing at 3:00 AM (other than wanting to die... colds suck) but right now I'm on the board, thinking of doing some programming, and listening to Crono Trigger being played behind me. |
