And Kirby All-Stars!  BMF brought up a good point about the 'emulator playing MIDIs' idea a while ago. Don't think of it as a PC running an emulator... Think of it as a super-powerful unofficial SNES add-on! One so powerful it doesn't need any of the original SNES hardware.  Of course, you would have to design it so that it will still play the original SMW music on a different emulator or a flash cart. Not everyone likes ZSnes; not everyone uses PCs for emulation; not everyone even uses an emulator.  And if any movie needs a remake that's closer to the book, it's Space Oddesy 2001. The book was awesome, the movie just plain made no sense.

Worst I ever had was one plop right down onto a cookie that I was THIS CLOSE to biting.  I didn't eat in that room for weeks after that. (It was a garage, lots of spiders.)

This might just indicate that your video card can't handle the game. Direct3D is pretty low-level, and XP seems to do a poor job of ensuring you don't run out of video memory when a whole lot of it is allocated at once. |

Ah, well, it might just be too slow then. You could get VirtualDubMod and re-encode them to a higher quality, maybe save in another format like AVI. This won't actually increase the quality, but it will reduce the compression rate; this means bigger files but you may not have so much trouble playing them. I'm not sure if VDM can actually do that, though. |
(But it seems you really only need a CPU upgrade... They work great for me with 192MB, so I doubt RAM is a big problem. You really should just upgade the entire thing, though; you can get a decent motherboard, CPU and RAM for like 300 bucks.)

The thing about ASM hacking on N64, though, is that if you add any code you have to find a place in ROM to put it and then figure out how to get that code loaded into RAM. Plus, it's a pain. |
