No but A, it shouldn't be necessary, and B, I would have to 'mimic' any control I add like that. |
 Static is easy, some others aren't.Small scrollbar problem. Whatever I set the Page value to, the maximum goes down by. Say the bar has a max of 10 and a Page of 2, it won't go past position 8.  Setting Page to 0 fixes this but makes it that I can't click the bar area itself to scroll quickly.

Actually there are ways to do so. One, binary files instead of text (unless you're storing text |
) would make it harder for them to figure out the file format. Two, simple encryption could help (the most popular kind, though pretty easy to beat, is to XOR each byte with some specific number before writing it to and after reading it fromt the file). Three, A checksum somewhere in the file can make things especially difficult. (Bonus if you stick a bunch of garbage at the end of the file to force it to have a certain checksum, instead of just storing the checksum in the file.  )Making the file read-only is an incredibly lame protection and will cause problems when your program tries to write to it.

I don't think I've ever heard of a keyboard hook that works on all versions and doesn't trigger from other windows. What function should I be looking at?

Yes, reinstalling is a huge pain. Something always just plain disappears from the backup no matter how many times I make sure it's being copied, actually installing XP takes forever, and then I have to install Firefox to get to Microsoft's site to download IE (even though I don't want it) and then download and install a crapload of patches. Restore the backups, that's a good few hours. Then re-install all the programs (and why is it that EVERY FSCKING INSTALLER creates shortcuts in my Start menu and Desktop without asking? |
  I did find a trick for some of those installers, though. When they have the nerve to only ask where you want the Start menu shortcut, not if you want one, I just tell them to stick it in "..\..\..\RECYCLER\[big number here]".  (Your big number may vary. I used some version of VirtualDubMod you posted a while back, might not be the newest version but it worked before. |

Do you or they have a firewall on that might be preventing it? Windows has its own crappy firewall you might need to shut off. |
