Awesome. I was thinking of doing this a while ago but with enhanced graphics too. Maybe some ASM hacks like buying more than one item at a time. Still FF1, but better. |

Why not just edit the button sequences and see what happens? |

I'd appreciate whatever info you have about what parts of the decompressed MIO0 files mean what. This will help me narrow down my search for other data. |
Also I bet I know why they called it MIO0. MarIO compression spec, version 0. (restricted) |

Heh, so many people using the word 'craptastic' to describe HP machines and their components. 'Tis what I call my video card. |

OK now really. I didn't actually care about what Yiffy Kitten was doing (just thought I'd inform the public ) but that's just mean. Consider having to remove all the line breaks by hand your punishment. (Yay regular expressions.) |

Hm, yeah, there was the ice storm in 2001, blackout in 2003, and now this. Wonder where the 2007 blackout will be? |
I remember I woke up like 10 minutes after the power went out and tried to turn on my computer. When it didn't turn on I looked over and realized the clock was off too, and I'm just like "oh, heh." Kinda got freaked out when I turned on a portable radio and heard the news broadcast (I knew it was big because all the nearby stations were out ). Ended up crashing at a friend's with a flashlight, portable radio, GBA, wind-up clock and a crapload of batteries.

Yeah, I think you'd have to declare them as static (if you can even do that in C?) or just globally. Local variables don't retain their values. |

Only split if necessary. I don't imagine why you can't expand the ROM and repoint them. Multi-ROM games would be a pain because if you wanted to move between the first and second half you would have to close the emulator and open a different ROM, and if it were at all well-designed they would share a save file so you would need to rename that too. |

For graphics editing, Tile Molestor is nice and supports a lot of formats, though it's buggy and requires Java. Tile Layer Pro is another good editor; less bugs and runs on Windows but doesn't support as much. |
No$GMB is (for now) probably the best Gameboy debugger you'll find. BGB is another emulator; its debugger is a crappy knock-off of No$GMB's but the emulation is more accurate. Hex Workshop is a nice hex editor, but has crappy table support (only using its own table format) and costs 50 bucks. Translhextion and Hexecute are good free ones; Translhextion's a little buggy but more powerful and doesn't have a huge memory leak like Hexecute does.

Does the ROM contain any track-editor-related code? Maybe we'd be able to download these tracks into memory using a Gameshark on a real N64. The game certainly seems to be designed for it given the simple and rather wasteful level format. |

You're also the one who bumped a 2-month-old thread, so you better make something that makes it worth it. |
Just FYI I've been working a bit on HOM again too. (And it's written from scratch. )

Hm, the garbled font one is semi-interesting (an unused sequence should just point to code that doesn't do anything) but given that it was written in C and used on all different systems I imagine they're just not meant for SNES. |

Yay, someone finally got around to doing it. |
If you haven't already I suggest you make Mario a ghost for a few seconds after coming out of the pipe. The most annoying part of them in DW:TLC was getting killed because there just happened to be a Koopa Troopa at the other end. Any progress/plans for corners, diagonals (like Dark said, not really hard to do, though you'd need a non-diagonal entrance), crossovers and one-way pipes? If you just have the entrance blocks (the 'head' of the pipe) set a direction in RAM and the pipe tiles move Mario in that direction, they should all be pretty easy.

The orange is good but a bit bright. And is this a separate hack from SMU? |
-also, some glitches in the top left here. Chunks of trees and missing tiles. |
