Yeah, there's a few bugs I can't seem to figure out, I think that option not saving was one of them.

I just disagree with the whole thing. Sure, some classics could kick a lot of new games' asses, but there are tons of great new games. Mario Kart Double Dash has to be the best Mario Kart yet. And as good as Zelda and Super Mario Bros were, OoT and Mario 64 blow them the hell away.

Way back when Super Mario Bros was the cool new thing (at least to me ) I always broke the two blocks below the ? boxes just before the small staircase. For some reason I was convinced there was invisible treasure in them.

Same here. I have to be at full health, full magic, with all characters at a nice even usually-high level before I even think about tackling a dungeon or boss.

No, that's not like any other sound I've heard in the game. It seems like it almost has to be intentional, or a glitch putting the sound pointer in the wrong place.

Yeah! I got it! Would have been nice if you mentioned you need to pad the bitmap with 0xFF. (The other compressor won't compile, and I like mine better anyway. )

(The scorebars are black because they're always black on my computer, unless I turn on alpha blending which makes the ground disappear int his level. )

Cellar, how'd you do that? It looks like you replaced the fence texture but that's only 32x32, it shouldn't be that wide or way up there.

Also it looks like the 'end-of-data' pointer doesn't have to be 2 bytes past the end, doesn't hurt to do so though. (Just point it right at the end.)

Looks like 454AF0 is the pointer to the outside-castle area, followed immediately by the end of data pointer for it. Pointing the level 1 data to this or vice-versa just crashed it. The pointer also appears at 2AC178, not sure what it's for.

Finally, a bit of useful info, the graphics seem to end at 0x2800 in the uncompressed level 1 data. You should see the byte sequence 66 66 66 00 66 66 66 - exactly the same one that we had messed with in the compressed data itself before. (Which also tells us that this should affect a polygon just past the tilting bridge.)

As for the compressor I'll release a new version (without all that debug crap ) as soon as I can get the damn padding to work right.

A. Fucking. MEN.

Here's the new compressor and source. It's designed to pad the bitmap to a multiple of 4 bytes. It doesn't quite work right; somehow the first byte of the padding becomes 0 instead of FF. Anyone who wants to fix it, feel free, I'm not screwing with that anymore tonight. Most of the debug output is removed so it isn't uber-slow anymore. Notice that after decompression you get a line like this:
Map Loc: 0x00000E65 Comp. Loc: 0x0000444A Raw Loc: 0x00009C02
That tells you where each field ends. The highest of these offsets should be the last byte of the compressed file, this can be used to determine where it ends. (I just copy everything up to the next instance of 'MIO0' into a file, decompress that and chop off everything past the end. )

No, it was because I didn't know the game needed the bitmap to be padded to a multiple of 4 bytes. Once I do that I can edit the data just fine... the problem is getting the compressor to do that right. You're right, though, to assume I don't know much about 3D graphics.

When mine goes out (same problem; connection light is on but nothing gets through, different provider though) I unplug the modem for a sec and plug it back in. If that doesn't do it I see if the TV still works. Certain programs such as BitTorrent make this happen a lot, moreso depending how much bandwidth they use.
Maybe you can convince them to send you a new modem, or at least come out to test the one you have, if they supplied it. Worked for me.

I have English and Japanese on mine but I got it stuck in Chinese a few times. If you only use one language you should just disable it entirely, it's a really glitchy piece of crap. Otherwise I suggest you right-click the bar and go to Settings, this usually fixes various problems it randomly creates. (Also maybe a screenshot would help. )

||bass, you can't very well expect someone with no experience in Chinese or Japanese to tell the two apart.

Almost. The new version has that damn padding bug that's driving me nuts but otherwise, yeah, it's working. Still not as well as Nintendo's though.

Yeah, bugs the hell out of me. It seems like it's writing one too many bytes in the bitmap, but if I take the last byte out it doesn't work right. It's always the simple things that get you.

If you're not sure whether something needs to be deleted, try deleting it anyway and check the return code. If the delete fails, it probably isn't necessary.

No, those don't really have anything to do with any problems. It's just stupid things like icons not showing up, or the bar refusing to stay in a specific place on the screen. Functionally it's fine most of the time.

Light is affected by gravity, thus why black holes are black - they suck light right in and it doesn't get out.
