That would be kinda neat, but you barely save any space by compressing MP3s anyway; they're already compressed. (Plus, such a plugin would have to decompress them. ) If you're that low on space, it's time to upgrade, or at least move things to CD-RWs.

Look, this isn't about why I'd prefer to do it through software than through the power button itself... I just need to know why it keeps turning back on. Yiffy Kitten, I can't think of anything that would interrupt it, and I don't recall my BIOS having any such options. I'm not using Windows' auto-shutoff though, I'm using that program I mentioned to turn it on or off whenever I want. That should be the same as if it happened via timeout, but Windows doesn't seem to notice it. (Even if I have to write my own program to do it, it wouldn't be a problem.) |

Yeah, I figured either kin or kimu (I went with the latter). Not very experienced, but enough to get that far.

Nope, sorry to say we haven't made much progress beyond SNES. It's being worked on, but between 3D, major proprietary compression, much bigger ROMs, and weird instruction sets it's a lot harder. 3D games aren't anywhere near as forgiving as 2D ones... If you corrupt the graphics or levels in a 3D game, chances are it'll just crash.

It's $100. I think you use something like #$0B to exit the level.

PSOne might have a bit of onboard SRAM for configuration and such, but I don't think it does. (It's got no configuration that I know of, after all. ) See if you can still read the disc in a PC.

All my SNES games do that. Even a few N64 ones. The cartridge slots seem to come loose over time, and if they're not in at the right angle, blooie!

The thing that worries me most about Revolution is the controller. I just know it's going to be a touch screen. Touch screens make crappy controllers because you don't get any tactile feedback. Sure it works with DS because you're looking at the screen anyway, but with a console you'd be looking at the TV. You'd have to constantly be checking that your fingers are still in the right places, cleaning the screens, and it just wouldn't be the same not feeling and hearing the buttons click under your thumbs. So unless they can pull off something really cool... But hell, I don't doubt they will. Game Boy was weak, bulky, and monochrome and it smoked handhelds that could rival the GBA power-wise back in its day. That's a damn good sign that Nintendo can really kick some ass where you wouldn't expect it. |

Sure, anything that saves as plain text. Just save it as whatever.c instead of whatever.txt. An IDE like Dev-C++ or Textpad can make things a LOT easier though. (I personally found Dev-C++ pretty buggy, but that's probably just my dumb luck. ) Textpad, for example, can highlight key words and strings and handles indentation automatically so you don't have to press Tab a bunch of times for every line. It's a really nice program.

I thought so. Depends what you mean by developing. Here's what I use: For writing the code: Textpad. Not free, but there's plenty of free alternatives; hell, you could use Notepad. If you're willing to spend the money, though, this one's nice. (I'm starting to sound like I developed it. ) For compiling: MinGW. For resources: PE Resource Explorer. Kinda crappy but I couldn't find anything else that worked properly. |

Yeah, it kills fullscreen too, which is quite annoying but I never really use fullscreen anyway. Even things that don't do that, though, like the screen saver will turn it back on.

I'm hoping to get a job, and my dad's coming out here sometime in August. (Oh yay but it beats going to his place.) Other than that, probably just wasting time. |
