It's mostly a matter of convenience. USB sticks are really small, fast and easy to use. I've never really worked with an external HDD, so I can't vouch for them.

BSOD = Blue Screen Of Death. It basically tells you what screwed up. XP is set by default not to show them, though. But like Yiffy Kitten said sometimes it still shows them for a few seconds before it restarts. Both mine and the school's will show it for about half a second.

FAA prohibits space-billboards I'm somehow reminded of an episode of Dilbert. Though if I look up at the sky at night and see an ad, I'm gonna puke. |

Super jump and such is tempting but I gotta go with the mind trick. "I already paid for this car"... "You want to go jump in a lake" etc.

You could probably fix the tongue problem with some ExGFX, but you'd have to sacrifice some other things.

Zapper could probably be done through some kind of adaptor to connect NES controllers. KawaiiImoto-e brings up a good point, too - what would be truly revolutionary is to get rid of crappy pointless region coding! Originally posted by Ralphy Boy That's true for N64 and Gamecube, sure, but when was the last time you saw an NES or SNES game in a store? And if you did, it was used. As far as ports, good, that encourages them to make better ports with new features and improvements that would make them worth buying even when the original is available for free. |

OK, that's a frickin awesome idea for a controller but I can see some issues: 1) Some fingers are just not that good at button-pressing. It'd probably be a pain trying to press a button with that one finger next to the pinky, whatever it's called. 2) The whole two-half thing is confusing... Do you mean to say like you can twist each half of the controller? That would be pretty cool, and would basically let you control 3 axes with one hand. (A common problem of the joystick and d-pad, they can only do 2 dimensions at a time.) 3) The controller would need to be just the right size for your hands. Too big or too small and it would be very uncomfortable and may even prevent you from reaching the buttons. Nintendo has some very young customers, and it'd really piss people off to buy their kid an expensive new game system only to find their fingers are too short to reach the buttons. 4) Wouldn't holding a ball like that for a long time be kinda akward? Especially if it was anything other than really really light. 5) People'd kick them around. |

This is military-grade bullcrap. I bet it'd be pretty easy to build an adaptor to allow GBC games to work on DS, though, but you'd need an emulator to do anything besides read the ROM and go 'oooh, numbery'.

Well, it's the 21st. Any big conspiracies revealed? I still get the feeling Nintendo's screwing with us. |

Kickass. Looking at the pics, I almost fear it'll be too complicated to be fun. But then I remember how many times Nintendo's made games that totally rocked look really complicated when they weren't.

If you're just planning to blindly write the value, the get statement isn't necessary, but it's a good idea to make sure the value you're changing is right (to ensure the user opened the right file). Simple examples of using Get and Put in Binary mode: Get #nFileNum, &h1234, X -Reads from file offset 0x1233 (since VB starts at 1) in file #nFileNum into X. Number of bytes read is however many X is. (Byte = 1, Integer = 2, Long = 4.) Put #nFileNum, &h1234, X -Writes X to file offset 0x1233 in file #nFileNum. Again, number of bytes is size of X. The seek doesn't even seem necessary, since Get and Put take direct addresses anyway. It might be possible to use them without to do sequential reading and writing, but I generally just use a local variable and increment it for that. |

Hm, what kind of transfer rates would they get on average anyway? An extra 100GB for 100 bucks is tempting, especially portable, but I really don't need that much (yet ), so I may just go with the USB stick if it's too slow. (Though that won't be for a while yet anyway.)

Hm... It does seem like SP2 is the problem (mine won't even boot with it ) but I just don't see how it could actually prevent the computer from starting up again. |
