Huh, their stats on Big Boards are very odd. Apparently there's been no posts in a month and no new members in a week or two, and their total posts jumps all over the place.

Speaking of which, we should upgrade ours, apparently.

Pretty neat, but unless they add support for multiple accounts, I may as well just stick with the official one. That way I don't need Firefox open, for one thing.

Did you try the actual international Google sites? Maybe google.com/intl/jp (or whatever the URL is) is blocked, but that doesn't necessarily mean google.co.jp is.

It should be 64 megabit, which is 8MB. The real problem is expansion chips... If you wanted to play, say, Mario Kart, you'd need to use a game which had a DSP1 in it. SMW doesn't use any though (nor any hacks to date that I know of ) so it shouldn't be an issue.

DS and PSP should both be more than capable of SNES emulation. I just wonder when we'll start seeing DS flash carts.

To comment on the pics:

1) Looks good, love the Santa hat. The stars in the corners are a nice touch.
2) Status bar problems == bad. The background is nice; plain but not boring. The coins are a bit bland though, and the ! block looks odd having the border outside of it.
3) Kinda bad colours, looks good though. Yay for using castles besides the generic default one.
4) Nice. Don't see a lot of haunted caves. The BG is good and it's all dark and spooky. Great ghosts too.
5) Ack, too much brown! The two 2D Goombas (with 2 different palettes ) next to the 3D one are a nasty clash too.
6) Bad palettes, including the status bar. Mario looks like he's swimming in the air.
7) Not bad (status bar again though ) but the background is way too far down. If you really wanted to just have the mountain's peak up there, you should at least add clouds or something. (And wouldn't a place that high up be all icy? )

BTW, some tips:
-Cut the borders out of the pics. For best results use ZSnes's screenshot function (and make sure to choose PNG, not BMP!) and turn the clock off first.
-Page background sucks and doesn't fit high resolutions. Bright red is a no-no.

It's really that simple... Go to the beginning of the file, click Fill, and add 0x200 (512) bytes of whatever value.

How about this, then?

102E: Real timer speed! Note that you need to change 0F8B too, or else the first second will still last as long as normal.
585F: Sound effect for Mario jumping. Not much is available, but you can change the 'FA 1D' nearby to make it write to a different sound register.
Some sounds you can use:
01 = Jump
02 = Start Yoshi drum track
03 = Stop Yoshi drum track
04 = Click-click (saw on a line?)
05 and up = Nothing?

Mandatory ASM notes:
00:8D8A: LDA #$28, STA $0F30, RTS ;sets timer frame count for 1st second
00:8E28: DEC $0F30, BPL, LDA #$28, STA $0F30 ;Sets other timer frame counts
-$28 is at 8E2E
00:D65E: LDA #$01, STA $1DFA ;Sets Mario's jump sound

[edit] Layout got messed in this post.

No, that's not doing it. Could it be that I used SendMessage instead of SendDlgItemMessage? I grab all the control handles into an array indexed by their ID when the program starts, and they all look alright. Or it could be the message itself?

SendMessage(hwnd,CB_ADDSTRING,0,(LPARAM)str)

Everything else is working now though although I haven't tried menus yet...

The people who say Linux's installer is crappy are probably those using a distro that doesn't have one at all (you do it all manually).

BMF, a-freaking-men. Where the hell is Folder Options this time? It seems to move every time they release a new service pack.

As for Longhorn, I've only seen screenshots and I don't like them. The GUI is ugly and undoubtedly a huge resource hog. Microsoft seems to think that the most important part of an OS is eye candy.

Yes, any decent forum would use a form for deleting accounts, not just a script that deletes the account when it's viewed. Or better yet, not have a 'delete' option, because there's no real point. If it's absolutely necessary, it can be done manually.

I've been having a strange problem with my CD drive. It keeps locking itself. The first 2 times I noticed it, I tried to burn a CD but the process failed for some reason. (Maybe I need to erase the CD-RW before burning to it? I could have sworn you could add files though...) After this the drive would not open (whether by clicking Eject or pushing the button) until I closed most of the programs that were open (once it actually popped right open on its own when I did so). Recently it's decided to lock again for no reason that I can see, and the only way I could get it back open was to reboot. Is there some fix for this, or a program that can unlock it? (I don't doubt it's possible, hdparm in Linux can do it. )
