Listening to music, and doing what I feel like. I might work on the GUI one day, some other part the next, etc depening what I'm in the mood for - and that's if I'm in the mood for programming at all. I also tend to just leave the stuff that's really giving me trouble, in the hopes that a solution will arise or I'll be able to figure it out next time. | |||

I hate to say this - and indeed if you'd said it to me before I really got into C, I'd probably have ignored you - but you'd be better off doing a simple C version, maybe creating output that would be easier for a VB program to handle. C is more difficult than VB, yes, but this isn't really a difficult task. All you'd really need to use is fopen(), fscanf() and fclose(). You'll find that C is wickedly fast compared to VB when it comes to file I/O and dealing with large arrays. And if you can't or won't do that, rewriting the file format a bit might help. Pad the digits with zeros so each number of a given field is the same length. (Eg: "X1_accell(001) = 0004") This way once you find a number, you don't have to scan forward to find a non-numeric character, because you'll already know exactly where it is. You might also get better speed using VB's built-in file reading functions than the File System Objects; you should still use it to create the file, but you can open it for line input and use the Line Input function. BTW, a tip for optimization and shorter code: If chkDebug.Value = vbChecked Then You can use a relatively little-known trick here: assigning a boolean expression to a variable. For example, "x = (y = 2)" will assign x to the result of 'y = 2' (true if it is, false if it isn't). In this case since you're using 1 and 0 instead of true and false, you could use "debugLevel = cint((chkDebug.Value = vbChecked) * -1)" (VB defines false as -1, so you need to multiply by -1 to get 1). But better yet, vbChecked is 1, unchecked is 0, and 2 isn't user-selectable, so you could just use "debugLevel = chkDebug.Value". |

I find I don't usually have a problem with salesmen being annoying like that. If they get to be particularly pushy I either just let them know I know what I'm talking about, or if that doesn't work, out-techno-babble them. The only thing that really bugs me is at Radio Shack, if you stand still for like 20 seconds they're all over you with the "can I help you?" stuff, even when it's clear I'm looking at something in particular. Like I've been there dozens of times, and it should be obvious when I make my way to the resistors and LEDs as soon as I walk in and start comparing item numbers to a list that I probably know what I'm looking for better than they do. I know it's not really their fault, more a store policy thing, but it's still pretty annoying. Originally posted by Tarale Pwned. (edited by HyperHacker on 03-25-05 10:47 PM) |

Lol, nympho on a stick. Interesting. I'm rated 8th in the region for nudest. Rather odd thing to be rated in. Must be a hell of a job, just go around counting naked people. And people keep wanting to get rid of elections altogether and just have the government decide. |

Switching from picture to picture shouldn't be using any RAM at all - minimal if anything. Well the way it works it probably keeps them all in RAM. I need to fix that. (edited by HyperHacker on 03-25-05 07:02 PM) |

Really, the only thing Geocities has is anti-link that's ridiculously simple to beat (rename images to .txt or add a question mark to the URL) and unintrusive, easily-removable banner ads. Compared to popups, more complicated anti-linking *cough*tripod*cough* and downtime, that's pretty damn good for a free host. |

I don't get why they translate the manuals but not the games, especially for games with a lot of reading. I had a copy of Final Fantasy, the game is completely English and has loads of text, but it still came with a frickin' huge manual entirely translated to French. Why would someone who doesn't speak English be playing this game? Also, if I was that guy, I wouldn't have mentioned the manual. Just say they're all defective or something. I imagine the problem is you're transferring over MSN. IM programs aren't famous for their blazing fast file transfers. I can download a file from someone through HTTP at 100KB/s, then recieve a file from the same person on AIM at about 10. (edited by HyperHacker on 03-26-05 12:19 AM) |

Revenge of the Goomba: Er, not bad, but pretty short and uninteresting. The scene transitions, especially just before the title, are waaaaaaaay too long. Just Another Day: Frickin hilarious! Loved Bowser's 'omgwtf' face. Great use of music, and @ the bloopers. Way to make an SMW hacking reference. Luigi's comment was great too. |

Not to sound racist, but WHITE FOREVER! Heh... Perfect song to have on when coming in here. 'Fruits Candy' with Sakura, Tomoyo and Kero. Not the kind of music I generally listen to but what the hell, I'm experimenting. |

OK, watch this. We take the image you posted: Then, we increase its vertical size by one pixel. (Note that this is done by modifying the header in a hex editor, not by using a graphic editor, because an editor would add pixels to compensate.) Exact same effect. Of course since this is a .PNG image instead of whatever format that is, it causes some colour problems and doesn't look exactly the same, but you can see how it has the same problem as the 'broken' image. |

Computers have microphones, yes, but that doesn't mean using one to emulate DS's will be easy. Emulators are fun and all, but I want a flash cart dammit. I want to boot up a little open-source OS on my DS and use it like a PDA. How much space can a DS cart have anyway? For that matter has anyone figured out how to read stuff from memory cards with the GBA Media Player? |

Well you should look for it. Personally I wouldn't have any major problem with someone using RLM just to get a base ROM with an ASM hack, if they were to delete all the levels and ExGFX. Though still, they should get permission first, and if they had that, there's not much reason the author couldn't make it an IPS. |

You need WinRAR. It really is a better compression format... Looks nice, love the rain. The scorebar colours, however, are quite gross, though I do like the consistency. |
