Check the sticky ROM Addresses thread, I posted a bunch of powerup-related info there. Mushrooms, unfortunately, don't just write a specific value to your power address; they just increment it. You should be able to hook the 'shroom code no problem, but I suggest leaving 7E0019 alone and using some unused address for the health counter.

Realtime or not, it doesn't support sprite rotation. You can rotate stuff in mode 7 (I think just BG layers) but levels don't use that. Writing new tiles into VRAM could very well do it, but it would also flip the flower in your item box. Also, it's very easy to enable the SFX chip, but I don't know of anyone that knows how to use it. |

Sounds: There's an archived thread here that lists a few. Some useful ones ($1DFC): 01=Coin 05=1up 0B=Getting a powerup you already have 29="right" 2A="wrong" 38=Shrink 41=Get Cape Disabling coins: Not without disabling all coins. 05B34A is a subroutine for 'getting regular coins', which I assume means it gives you a coin, so if you looked for calls to it you could probably disable individual ones. 1ups: Write the number of lives you want to give to 7E18E4; it'll handle everything but the '1up' sprite. |

Look for some free space in that bank where you can put a JSR to it followed by an RTL. And post the address if you haven't already.

Hmm... I'm not sure how to upload new instrument data or adjust volume, but the game writes #$80 to one of the SPC ports (I think the first one) when loading the overworld. (Anyone know SPC700 ASM? ) $1DFB is the music address though; write a track number to change it. That would be really cool, though. Even just being able to fade in and out. |

Clicky - Now in standard HTML format, and all in one page for convenience. (Load time shouldn't be an issue, because unlike on the real board, all the files are on the same server. ) I've removed most of the board links such as Quote and New Reply, and added some more useful ones. I also changed the background because the old one just didn't look that good with the changes. If you really hate it, click 'Toggle BG' to switch to the old one; it uses a cookie, so it should stay that way next time you view it. Oh and I already added this to the SMW Hacking Resources thread, but editing my post doesn't show any indication of that. |

Notepad, just plain Notepad. The whole point of it is that it's a very lightweight text editor. I use it for (get this) jotting down notes. It also redraws very, very fast - good for hiding the screen without looking suspicious. (Not that I would ever need to... ) I do find Textpad quite awesome, though. I use it for programming and more advanced text editing (HTML and anything that needs a lot of files open at once or replacements with regular expressions). Just I don't consider it a Notepad replacement, but another editor entirely. I would love to have a Notepad replacement that had those two features, but just those two. Notepad != MSWord Lite. |

Hey, that thing has some cool features... It doesn't look like you could do that with it though. See if you can find out for sure if the one you're getting has outputs; if so, just wait for that. (And like I said, even just a standard headphone jack will work. Same idea, different cable.)

Originally posted by FreeDOS That's only auto-update though, isn't it? If you wanted to update manually you'd still have to use IE or download and install them all manually. I had to disable auto-update after M$ made the brilliant decision to force-install SP2 with it. Figure out a way to make it not crash my computer, and then we'll see. Also I think there's a Mozilla-based HTML renderer available... I imagine the users would need at least part of Mozilla installed for it to work, but if you must avoid using IE entirely, you could include the required files in your installer. Just seems like a bit of a waste when they probably already have the IE one installed, unless it really needs the added security. (If it's just going to be used to view local HTML files or your own web site, IE wouldn't be all that bad a choice... ) |

Mainly because M$ can't make up their minds. Some APIs return 0 for failed and 1 for success, others use 0 for success, and a few don't return anything and rely on GetLastError() instead (which also requires using SetLastError(0) beforehand, lest you get false errors from other parts of the code). Anyway, emulators should be easy to find. And I know you've probably done so already, but some creative use of quotes and keywords on Google can get you surprising results. (IE: No luck with 'OSX SNES Emulator'? Try 'OSX Mac OS "SNES Emulator"' or something along those lines. Of course I haven't tried either of those because I really don't need such an emulator, but you get the idea. ) (edited by HyperHacker on 03-18-05 06:33 PM) |

Alright, so I have a bunch of episodes of Ranma 1/2 in .mkv format, which I use VLC Player to watch. This works well for most, however, one of the episodes (season 2, ep 3) is missing subtitles, and I don't speak Japanese that well yet. I have a copy of the subtitles in a .srt file, but for some reason VLC won't read it, even if I tell it specifically to use that file. They can't seem to figure out why, so I need to find one of the following: -A way to get VLC to read the .srt file. -A program that can open the .mkv file, embed the subtitles into it (like the other episodes have) and save it in whatever format. (VLC can play just about everything, so the format isn't really important. ) -A decent program that can play the file with subtitles. Preferrably one that doesn't use the Windows Media core, because every program I've tried that does was far too slow playing .mkv files. -A copy of this episode with the subtitles in it. Don't really care if they're hard-subbed (part of the image itself) but the other method is preferred. Also, just FYI, the video contains two audio tracks; the first one I don't care about, I only need the second. (The first is English, but the voices just make me want to puke. No way I'm using that. ) (edited by HyperHacker on 03-18-05 06:43 PM) |

In best order I can remember, probably forgetting several: |
-GSCCC - code hacking site, which linked to GSCentral somewhere. -GSCentral - another code hacking site. I posted my first ROM hack here (SMB1 graphics edit with Nesticle ) and was linked to Zophar.net when asking about them. -Zophar.net - you know. Linked to PPN (TAN) when asking about Pok
