It's 65816, some people like to stick a 'c' in various places though. ASM isn't something you can just make an editor for though, it's the actual program code of the game. Unless you know how to write some simple SNES program code, you probably won't be able to do much with it.

Zophar.net should have some programs that can convert the hex into readable ASM code, though you won't be able to insert it back into the ROM without some reformatting. For small hacks, you're better off just using hex.

Ah, good, that works. Now, then...

1: Nice, but it seems like the camera should be higher up. Way to fix the tail!
2: Seems kinda cluttered. Lotta black plants.
3: Oooooh... Ground looks kinda funky though.
4: Awesome. Just awesome.
5: Neat, though the spinies seem a bit miscoloured.
6: Strange palettes, nice idea.
7: The platforms look really odd, everything else looks great. Wonder why I don't see those used in castles more?
8: Red coins? Looks cool.
9: Neat, though the blocks Mario and the coins are on looks really odd.
10: Very nice, but the blocks on top of the 3D-looking bricks seem out of place.

The one in Big Boo's Haunt was easy. Break the block, switch to Mario or Luigi, hit the switch, run. A lot of them are easy if you just change characters once you've exposed the switch. (Shifting Sand Land especially - hit the block, change to Mario, grab a Wing Cap, hit the switch, shoot toward it. ) The only one I found especially difficult was in Hazy Maze Cave; you need to do a perfect triple jump up there, and then long jump to the platform with the star. They're mostly not hard, just annoying. (Especially having to watch the appearing/disappearing animation over and over. )

I've never seen these editing problems except the &lt; stuff, but I know line breaks can cause some problems in layouts. I just write mine in an HTML file, strip out all line breaks, and paste it into the page. As for HTML, you can stick <z> in the tag, which will cause it to show up as normal text. I can't seem to get it to work with custom titles though so I have to use the escape codes instead and change it back every time I edit my profile.

Well I'm not sure how you would do it in Java, but I made a really simple, single-threaded version of this in VB once. Basically the server keeps an array of each IP and the corresponding name, and when it recieves a message it loops through them all and sends it to them, including the one it came from (don't have the clients echo the messages they send). You could also have the client attatch the name, but in a large-scale system it's a lot easier to exploit, and since it's barely any difference in code to have the server do it, you may as well.

Dan: I'm pretty sure he meant you have to actually draw the GUI and keep track of controls, coordinates etc manually, as opposed to telling the OS to put a button here, a text box there, etc.
