I thought .Net was only a Windows thing. Self-rendered is a neat option if you're good at graphics, but done badly it can really suck. I, for one, hate ZSnes's GUI.

That's how I want it to be, though. Just instead of extending the table to fit it, stick it in a little scrolling box. Like Notepad without Word Wrap on; the window doesn't stretch to fit, it just scrolls.

Have you ever had HD problems once the system was up and running? It might just be starting up slowly. You should definitely check the connection though, and if that checks out get a new HD from a place with a good return policy and copy (not move) everything to it. If you have the same problem with that one, it's probably not the HD at fault, so just wipe it and send it back and get the system itself looked at. (If you're lucky, replacing the IDE controller might do it, but a lot of laptops don't really have one you can just take out.) Heh, once I dropped my laptop and it started doing that... I thought I'd killed it for sure, but I opened it and found the HD had actually come out of its bay. I ended up sticking silly putty in to keep it in place, worked great until I went and shorted out the power board. (edited by HyperHacker on 02-22-05 04:05 PM) |

Quite fun to do to other people's computers, especially if you hide the icons first. That reminds me of the time I had to have another fan installed, and took it to a repair shop (for the last time, damn con artists ). I had my screen saver set to the BSOD text and colours with scrolling text. Apparently it was more realistic than I thought, since it came back as "THE COMPUTER HAS NOT CRASHED, THIS IS A SCREEN SAVER". |

Well if it's such a big problem, a quick entry in robots.txt will fix it up nicely.

It is on XP. Not that it's uncommon for one to screw everything up to where you need to reboot, but actually causing a BSOD or reboot is rather rare.

As far as identifying breakpoints caused by hardware, I would generally exclude those unless specified not to. Like some sort of checkbox on the breakpoint window (or whatever you use, I haven't actually tried it yet ) that determines whether hardware-based things such as DMA should set them off, or just direct I/O. It could be rather confusing if, say, someone set a breakpoint on the scanline counter and kept getting hits at seemingly random instructions because it was modifying itself.

When you open a ROM in TLP it shows everything as graphics, even if that's not what they're supposed to be (it can't tell the difference, just a bunch of bytes), so you'll see a lot of garbage. You have to scroll around and find the graphics. In SMW's case, they're compressed, so TLP can't read them. You need to open LM and click Extract GFX, then open the .bin files in TLP. When you open .bin files it defaults to 1BPP mode, so go to View -> Format -> SNES to see them properly. (Also, unless you choose Use Joined GFX Files in LM, you need to resize the graphics window in TLP to the smallest height you can before you change it to SNES mode, or else it won't work because of a bug. )

Er, you seem to be thinking of another program... HOM can edit the ROM, just not the puzzles. You can change stuff like the number of blocks, speed, etc.

Fairly Odd Parents pwns. Looks nice, especially the 3D effects, but the hole seems too big... And why 'Basic Land' anyway?

Sure, but you need to know how to use DOS. It's simple enough, really: 1) Put the program in a short path, like C:\pic2snes.exe. 2) Go to Start -> Run, type 'cmd' (or 'command' on older versions), hit Enter. (Tip: Windows key + R brings this up too.) 3) Type 'cd\' in the DOS box to get to C:\. If you need to change directories, use 'cd [directory name]'. You can use quotes for names with spaces, like 'cd "c:\documents and settings"'. 4) Type 'pic2snes' (or whatever you named the program) and follow the instructions. |

Ah yes, Atma X posted this a while ago... 18C7: Title screen music 1924: Intro screen music 8984: Goal point music 4BBD: Goal point fade-out music E416: Keyhole music D24F: Boss defeated music 16B3: Boss castle destruction sequence music #1 657D0: Boss castle destruction sequence music #2 1937: Bowser scene 1 music 1A9C2: Bowser scene 3 music 780B: Death music 52DE: Game Over music Each of these bytes specifies which track to play. Keep in mind that not all tracks are available at all times... You can't use OW music in a level, or level music on the OW; you can use OW music on the title screen though. Also, not sure quite what this means, but: 033A or 033B Makes all Levels use Music Bank 2 (033B---Value FE keeps the Title Screen on Bank 1 and the Levels on Bank 2) And to find them, search for A9 xx 8D FB 1D or A9 xx 8D DA 0D, replacing xx with the track #. |
