If they want to prevent vandalism, maybe they need to stop being so lazy and make an actual effort to stop it from happening? Washroom sign-out sheets would work just fine if they were actually enforced.

Yay. Now we just need to beat Gameshark. (Considering the Gameshark itself is no longer in production (at least not under that name), I'm rather surprised the place is so popular. )

Holy crap. That'd be a ridiculously huge pile of even $1000s, which I think is the highest that exists. I sure wish I had that much.

Hell, just look at the number itself. $87,000,000,000.00 - that's a lot of zeros.

"somerandomperson@hotmail.com has added you to their buddy list!" Multiply by about 628 every time you log in and you end up with a list full of people you've never heard of. if I wanted people to know I was adding them, I'd *gasp* tell them! I'm sure they'd appreciate it a lot more than a big popup box out of nowhere too. And name one half-decent IM service that doesn't have all those other features?

"Noobs often attempt to maintain their own web pages. They will also have large, seemingly infinite marquees of 88X31 affiliate buttons replaced with red X's scattered here and there, and possibly a hit counter showing a number less than 100."
They also commonly create web pages that change colour when you hover over them. Funny stuff though.

Haha, no. I found that out myself. The physics in even the most realistic games are nothing like real life (since that wouldn't be as fun ), and using a controller doesn't help you get a feel for the sensitivity of the wheel and pedals. Plus you don't get Mushrooms.

Trade ya. I'd rather have sluts than girls who aren't interested in most guys at all.

Sure, I suppose it's a bit much to expect everyone to be able to distinguish between two different types of Asian people, but thats why you refer to them as just that--Asian people.

Heh, I find myself referring to anyone who looks Asian as Japanese in my head, mainly because I'm significantly more interested in Japan than in the rest of Asia. I don't actually think that though, it's just some annoying thing that happens. I make sure to correct myself before saying it out loud, if I bother to say anything at all. I do especially hate racists though. Just want to set them on fire.

*People who say that guys who go to all male schools are gay. I go to an all male school, and frankly, the people there are the most homosexualy intollerant sacks of shit...which could bring up the discussion of denial, but trust me..they aren't

Heh, sucks to be you. Whether or not the students actually are gay, it sure seems like a good way to turn them that way. Spend all day every day in a room full of guys with no women in sight, fun.

Exclusive mode sucks. Especially for board staff (which I am in various places, not just here) and software developers, people need to be able to contact you if something bad happens. Plus it blocks out all the people you might actually want to talk to, unless you actually hunt them down. A lot of my online friends are people who IMed me out of the blue.

forcing register to view sites is designed to keep bandwidth down--worried about email, then why don't you make a public email and have that seperate from your private one

A few problems with this idea...
-There are better, less annoying ways to cut bandwidth usage. Optimize the pages and get rid of big images. Or maybe just upgrade? You shouldn't be running a big site if you can't afford a server for it.
-I do have a second email just for signing up at potential spam sites. That doesn't make it any less annoying to have to go through the process though. Seeing a 'log in omfg' prompt on every single page before I even get to look at the site really doesn't make me want to sign up just so they can brag about their member count. Plus the majority of the time it's a site that someone linked to that I'm never going to look at again, the hell if I'm doing all that to read one page.
-Most of the sites that do it are really big message boards and such (usually PHPBBs, presumably because it's easy to do or a default setting) which certainly don't appear to be having any sort of bandwidth problems and are running big boards, sites that run off the board's database, and huge images everywhere.

That wouldn't really be good, but maybe a separate system could be implimented like the Yoshi Coins in SMW.
And I like the infinite lives idea, particularly for harder hacks. Having to re-do everything sucks.

Not bad, but your name all scrunched together doesn't fit well with the font, and what's with the ground and that hill in the BG?

The graphics look neat, but pretty flat and blocky. The score bar is nice but what's up with the black spot under/beside it? Also the letters in 'world' look really messy.

Looks the same as the old one, but with more blocks.

Neat, but red? The blocks are quite pwnery.

@ the hills. Again, the blocks look really flat.

You need to know how to use GDI functions such as BitBlt and SetPixel. What you generally want to do is read the palettes and graphic data, and draw each pixel on a buffer based on the palette data. (Convert the palettes to BGR (RGB backward) and stick them in an array, and use the individual pixel data as the index.) Then you just copy 8x8 squares from the tile buffer onto one main buffer, stretching if necessary (use StretchBlt) and copy that onto the window's DC. (You could copy directly to the DC from the tile buffer, but you'll get flicker.) For sprites or BG layers with transparent colours, set the transparent colour's palette entry to something that won't be used in the game's palette data, and use TransparentBlt specifying that colour as the transparent colour. (TransparentBlt can also stretch the image. Tip: Since most systems use 15-bit colour or an index to a palette hard-coded into the system, the number of possible RGB colours is quite limited. For example, 15-bit colour will always translate to multiples of 8 for the red, green and blue values, so use something that isn't a multiple of 8 as your transparent colour and it's guaranteed not to conflict with the palettes. )

Colourizing ROMs isn't really something that can be automated. Crappy video code is one of the main reasons - it'd be a lot easier (though still damn near impossible to do automatically) if it was like Gamecube, where the games all use the same SDK and thus end up with very similar, optimized code, but a lot of old GB games have horrible code. Just look at Tetris.
