I tend to go back and forth between using Hibernate mode (boots up in about 6 seconds  ) and just leaving it on. Right now I usually leave it on unless I'm having trouble sleeping and the fan's keeping me awake. Mostly because I like to leave BitTorrent running to seed whatever anim |

I installed Mandrake 9.1 and didn't even have to change settings or anything, it installed a bootloader automatically. Seemed to run pretty well too on a computer about twice as fast, 192MB RAM but only like 4MB video.  Does take a few gigs though. |

| The real difficulty is the wiring. You're not really likely to find a chip with a compatible pinout, which means you have to re-wire it all to fit. Or just cut off the connector and make your own damn PCB. But once you've got it in there, if you know how, you can usually just stick a parallel port connector on and not have to take the cart apart to reflash it. (Lot of free space in an NES cart.) Now, a GBC - or even, GBA cart...  |

| I agree, the dialog is way too big and messy. What's with those checkboxes way across from their labels? The boxes should be on the left of the text, using their own caption instead of a separate label. There is also a lot of wasted space, and the 'unknown' values should be editable (and split into individual bytes, unless you know for sure they aren't supposed to be) so people can maybe find out WTF they do. | As I understand, it sometimes turns the screen off outside of the vblank period when you finish a level. I'm not sure exactly what harm that can do, but Nintendo will reject any game that does it and does indeed warn that it can damage the system. Apparently it was bad enough for them to release a 'fixed' version (even though the bug has no actual effect on gameplay), so there ya go. |

| He's talking about my RAM Database program. As I mentioned in the email, RDF files are just a list of addresses that you entered into the program. There's no such information in the ROM, you have to find them and write it yourself. (That's the point of the program, to make it easier to write the lists. ) |

| Converting an NES ROM to work on SNES is somewhat possible, but you would need to rewrite most of the graphic and sound code. Essentially what Nintendo did to make SMAS (though it was easier for them because they had the source code ). Certainly not a project I'd want to take on though. A lot of work involved. |

When it's at 100% that means all your CPU power is being used. If it wants to do something else, it has to wait because it's completely busy, so things slow down. You could try googling the program's name, but if there was a lot of spyware on it before you're best off formatting it. You can just back up whatever onto CD-RWs first. |
