Well, duh. But I meant on the show itself. (If nothing else, you gotta admit those are some nice clothes. Makes you wonder about that girl, following her around, sticking her in skimpy outfits, and then video-taping her jumping around and such. Methinks her wealth has a lot to do with these videos. )

Please, don't bring that up. I just finished a round of Mario 64 DS.

Ninjas are cool, but pirates say 'Arr' and other cool stuff, and have big boats and parrots. Pirates it is. (Although I must admit ninjas certainly have better taste in clothing. )

Well sure, if you actually read that. And you must realize the high levels of sarcasm in that post, even if it is true.

Holy shit, I found Jesus.

The Luigi one doesn't really work, it's just a blob. I've seen another one where you stare at an inverted American flag, then look at a white wall and it shows up with the right colours. Neat things you can do with eyes.

Dude, be glad for that. It's to make up for the fact that in Canada you can legally download all the music you want.

Why would anyone pay extra for one in Japanese? I know some people are rather obsessed with Japan but one would think they'd still want their MP3 players to have menus in their native language. And for that matter, anyone smart enough to learn a second language would probably be smart enough to find the option.

Exactly. So not only would you need a different patch for each ROM, but the patch would have to contain all the un-encrypted data for each anyway. I'm sure it'd be easy enough to make a program that does it, but I doubt anyone would actually release it to the public.

Posted on 01-06-05 09:57 AM, in Did someone change the CSS? Link
Check it out:

My quotes turned gray.

I didn't change my layout or CSS file at all, and it was fine before. Did someone change something in the Circuit scheme, or is my computer just being weird again?

[edit] I just KNEW it would stop when I posted this. I saw it here, every time I looked, and a few other places.

Also, just to give this topic a point seeing how the old one seems to have vanished, I'd like to suggest a few things:

1) When posting a thread or poll, after the page is done loading, the thread title box gets focus. I think this is done with some Javascript? It's incredibly annoying, especially when making a poll and having it jump back up there while typing in a choice. Also when reading something in newreply.php for whatever reason (I often do if a layout won't load) it jumps back up to the top as a result. It'd be great if that didn't happen.

2) Is it possible to make the post links (above each post, the word 'link') only copy the file and not the whole URL when clicking 'copy link location'? Perhaps the link could be coded to place the proper location in the clipboard when clicked, or something along those lines. It's annoying having to edit out the 'board.acmlm.org' part, and equally annoying when people don't and link to some obscure URL that I have to log into.

[edit] Happened again, and not just to my quote this time. This is the thread, BTW.

Posted on 01-06-05 12:15 PM, in Computers at Work easier to hack than Acmlm's? Link
This is a really good way to get into huge trouble. People who know little about computers take 'hacking' very, very seriously, and what they consider hacking can be anything they don't know how to do. (I was once accused of hacking because a teacher saw me open Notepad from the Run prompt. ) Plus, if you actually change anything in there, you can get in major shit for a lot of other crimes. Here's what I suggest you do instead:

-If you can change stuff without being caught, don't change your own info, you risk being caught by the people going through it or by comparison to hard copies/backups. Instead, you can use this to your advantage a different way... Someone you really, really hate? Give them a HUGE raise, so big that there's really no way they won't get caught. Watch them get busted! (You'd be surprised how many people get into these kinds of systems, and drunk on their own power, just give themselves like a 50-dollar raise without thinking about consequences, checking security systems, etc.)

-Report this security flaw to the administration. Depending what kind of people they are, you may want to tell them in person. Best case, they thank you for it, probably giving you some sort of bonus. Worst case, you get in trouble for breaking into it in the first place. (It's kinda like if a burgular broke into your house, woke you up, and told you how he got in. Some people would be grateful for the update but many would treat him the same as if he'd robbed them blind.) If you don't want to risk this, do it anonymously (unmarked envelope in the mailbox is a good bet), and at least be satisfied in the fact that others won't be able to look at and mess with your personal information.

I often blog it or post about it, it helps me get the emotions out in a non-violent way. Or sometimes I just explode violently on an unimportant object. You gotta admit, smashing a broken N64 controller to bits with a hammer is hella fun.

Interestingly, though, I write better when I'm tired than when I'm depressed/angry/whatever. In those it tends to just be a lot of ranting and swearing, but I've written some rather interesting things on low sleep. (Nothing I'm really willing to post, though. )

Posted on 01-06-05 12:34 PM, in Thinking of getting serious with C. Link
Not sure why, but I suddenly have this urge to do C stuff. The biggest problem I have with C is that all the compilers/IDEs I've tried tend to suck for various reasons. That said, I'm trying to find the following:

-Good compiler with minimal bugs. (I hear MinGW is good?)
-Good IDE, similar to VB6's. Preferrably one that keeps a list of variable/function names and auto-corrects the capitalization like VB's does. (Case-sensitivity is one of the things I like least about it. ) I could just use Notepad but I'd much prefer an IDE if one exists. VC++ is nice, but seems lacking, and isn't entirely stable. (Plus it's confusing as hell trying to figure out where it's putting the files. I find them strewn all over the HD. )
-Some sort of resource builder, the thing I would use to make windows and such, and information on just how I'm supposed to use them.

Also, any references to string-related code that might be useful is greatly appreciated, as I always seem to have trouble with string manipulation. Finally, I should know this, but I just can't seem to get it to stick: How does the whole */& thing work? Like *foo = address of foo, &foo = copy of foo's contents, or something like that, isn't it?

Repair should do it, but I've seen some problems live through that. I didn't re-install to fix those bugs, I just wanted to have Windoze installed on the new HD, since it's bigger and apparently much faster. (You should see it start up from hibernate mode, it loads like 4 times faster. )

What I meant by right-clicking, though, was if you go to 'All Programs' and right-click any folder, and choose Open. The folder should open, but it would just bring up a move/copy dialog instead.

Posted on 01-06-05 12:51 PM, in DS Emulator Link
I really don't see why people think having 2 screens will make it difficult. That just means having to create 2 windows. Touch-screen should be easy to emulate with the mouse. The only real problem is the CPU power and rather obscure cart format.

Really, I'm not concerned about an emulator so much as a flash cart, even if it's not big enough for any commercial games. I wanna take advantage of all that power for stuff Nintendo can't/won't do, like emulators, PDAs, and slightly-less-than-legal tone generators. Plus I'm quite intriuged about the hardware itself. It looks like just about everything can be controlled via software, which I really like the sound of. (Notice how toggling the backlight, booting a GBA game, etc is all software-controlled; sleep mode can be disabled, etc.)

What I wonder is how the carts themselves work. Are they just like smaller GBA carts, or some new format? It'd be really neat if they really were the same sort of thing as those flash cards used in digital cameras, especially if the entire cart was rewriteable. (Though that could be dangerous, both to Nintendo (easier piracy) and the players (possibility of having the whole game wiped out). But it seems easier to make the whole thing one re-writeable chip than to try to fit both a ROM and an EEPROM/SRAM/whatever in there.)
