It IS fun to be able to take control of someone's computer and freak them out or DoS people. But you shouldn't do it to strangers, that's mean. Do it for revenge, or pranking friends (just don't screw stuff up). Unfortunately these people usually don't have such morals, and will just try to get as many systems infected as possible. Often they're designed to do one or more of the following: -Steal data; anything from useless stuff to source codes to credit card numbers and passwords. -Leave a program on the machine, usually an IRC bot, that can be commanded in groups to DoS a particular site (send a whole lot of garbage data to it all at once, overwhelming their system). Personally I wouldn't mind having my system used for this, if I was able to choose whether or not to participate. Some sites just need to be shut down. -Install a web server on the system, allowing the attacker to store their own files on it. This is usually done to a few select systems in universities or other such places with fast connections for hosting warez. -Give the attacker total control of the system. Getting back on topic though, another IE vulnerability was discovered. (I'd post info, but the only link I know of has the exploit code on it, which probably shouldn't be so easily-accessible to some people. ) Basically, bad CSS combined with unclosed tags can crash the browser. (And knowing IE, someone'll probably find a way to install viruses through it. The problem is pointer corruption which is a very common exploit for viruses, but I don't know if it's useable in this case, since the circumstances are rather unusual. Pretty sure it's a data pointer, so the worst it can do is cause a page fault.) |

There are 3 problems with what you're asking: 1) No such program exists. 2) To even find, let alone repoint and replace, all the text in a ROM requires far too much intelligence to be automated with current technology. (Meaning, a computer couldn't do it for you.) 3) Computers suck at human languages, so they absolutely cannot translate properly. I need only say one thing to prove this point: All your base are belong to us The game that comes from (Zero Wing) was translated by a computer, and it contains almost NO correct grammar. |

I'm not sure why it was uninstalled. I'd like to know. Also if you don't like his layout (and I agree, scrollbars + very small fixed width = bad), click his name, near the bottom there's an option to block it. That'll make his posts show up as plain text when you're logged in. |

Thanks, worked great! (Well it didn't at first, but then I realized I had it set to percentage. And yes, before you ask, I did have it on Value when testing the other formula. ) Now, how do I add a bitmap resource to an OCX control? (I tried going to Add File and selecting it, but it says it can't be added. ) I imagine my users wouldn't want to have to have these bitmaps packaged with their app. (edited by HyperHacker on 01-02-05 11:03 PM) |

Can't say how legal IE hacking is, but it'd be more difficult than using the config in Mozilla. Anyway, since this was posted here about a week ago, I'm just gonna close this one.

Yeah, that's basically it. When you delete a PM, it really just gets moved to a hidden folder (because if it was truly deleted, it would also disappear from the other person's 'sent' folder). Unfortunately the contents of this folder are still counted for your total, and nobody's got around to fixing it. ...Really, wouldn't it make a bit more sense if each message had a 'deleted by sender' flag and a 'deleted by reciever' flag, and when one user deletes the message, if it was already deleted by the other it would get completely removed? |

I gotta go with Digimon. It has absolutely no plot, just a simple repeating script: -Monsters try to defeat badguy, but fail. -Monsters somehow power up to a form even stronger than their strongest form. (This is the new strongest form.) -Monsters defeat badguy, only to discover he was taking orders from a bigger badguy. -Lather, rinse, repeat. Occasionally go to another world/dimension/etc and start all over again. Pok |

I smack them really hard.Originally posted by Kawa-oneechanOriginally posted by Kitten YifferNever worked for me. And now they're mad at me because I "solve" the problem my own way. It's your own fault, teachers from my clouded past, for not succeeding in what you said you'd do: stopping those bastards. A-fucking-men. They never even try to help when you tell them about your problems, and then when you decide to solve them yourself, you get in trouble. What a world. |

Well I couldn't sleep so I decided to install it this morning. Everything appeared to be going fine, and I rebooted. I couldn't help but notice a few changes, though. Something about it just irks me... Maybe it's the changed bootup screen, or the removed copyright date, or the BSOD when I start up... The error code is PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA - STOP 0x00000050 (0xC2D40000, 0x00000001, 0x804DA1AD, 0x00000000). I've searched Google and Microsoft's site, the closest I can find is a problem related to some BootSkin program which I've never heard of. I haven't hacked any system files, changed the boot screen, hell I'm still using the default colour scheme and desktop. I just re-installed a while ago and all I've done since then is install various programs (including the latest version of IE6, since it refuses to work right without it and the files on the install CD are messed up) and download a few gigs of anim |

Bleh, I just did all that, except for the installing SP2 first part. I Googled for a list of programs that had problems that I'd seen before, but all I can find is a list of programs that need to have firewall settings changed to connect to the Internet. Also, how big is the file supposed to actually be? For me it was ~200MB, but I've heard everything from 80 to 800. |

Having a lot of RAM is definitely a good thing, but there are other factors involved. CPU speed, polygons per second, etc.

If you're only concerned about bookmarks, browse the folder in Program Files. Somewhere in a randomly-named folder should be a bookmarks.xml file (or similar, I forget what the actual extension is). You can open it in a browser to see what's in it, then just copy it over the one in the new profile. (At least, that's how I copied mine from another installation of Mozilla.)

Dude, if you MUST use scrollbars, at least make the area a decent size. That's far too tiny. (edited by HyperHacker on 01-04-05 02:07 PM) |
