What counts as an insecure manner? The only place my site uses those is to include a header file, but one can't be too careful.

Apparently not. Frivolous lawsuits should be punishable by... something bad. They oughta make me a judge so I can laugh these people out of court. Or better yet, fine them for being a moron. |

I understand how it works. That's why I understand that there is no need to draw the image underneath the HTML. (That's what I was saying is stupid.)

Well, it finally happened. I got a new 250GB hard drive, w00t! (Now let's hope Western Digital makes better hardware then they do software. Their install CD said I had no CD drive. After installing the files onto TWELVE FLOPPY DISKS, because floppy disks SUCK (yes, 11 of them failed) and my disk drive isn't much better, I got into the setup. Since my stupid BIOS has that 137GB limitation, the setup program was supposed to set up a workaround, but wouldn't because it said WinXP without SP1 doesn't support it. I ended up having to tell it I did have SP1 - even though I was about to re-install from scratch - so that it would allow me to create two 125GB partitions which could have been done without SP1 anyway. ) (Long story short, I now have my old 15GB drive, and one 250GB drive split into 125GB partitions.) Now, it seems to work, but there are of course some (luckily small) problems: 1) The lettering. My old drive is C:, the new ones are D: and E:, and the CD-ROM is F:. I want the new ones to be C: and E:, the old one to be F:, and the CD-ROM to be D:. (This installation of Windows is running from D:, and another installation is on C:.) 2) When I boot up, it gives me the option to boot 'Windows XP Professional' (this one) or 'Windows XP Professional' (the old one - yes, they both have the exact same name ). I assume this will go away when I format the old drive? (I also notice my Linux bootloader has been wiped out, making it impossible to boot Linux. Ohh, if I wasn't planning to wipe that out anyway, I'd be SO pissed. ) 3) If I get SP1, is there a way to merge the two partitions into one 250GB one without wiping them? Will my BIOS (which reports the drive as 137GB) go nuts? 4) Windows reports the partitions as 116GB, with a capacity of 125,411,295,232 bytes. (They're not the same size, but close. The program only let me set sizes as a percentage of the capacity. ) I assume this is because it's using 1000 bytes/KB instead of 1024? Is there any way to change that? |

Alright, thanks for the info on changing the letters, but it's not working how I'd hoped. The CD-ROM drive doesn't show up, and I can't change the drive Windoze is running from. As far as SP2 goes, I do plan to get that. (In fact I think I might have installed it along with other updates without noticing. I don't recall a lot of these features. ) The reason I didn't have any service pack was that I hadn't even installed Windoze yet. (Well, there was the old installation, but I wanted to - and did - clean install on the new HD.) The size limit, I'm pretty sure it is a BIOS problem (only supports 28-bit addressing) as it is reported as that size in the setup menu. I was going to buy an ATA controller but it would have cost a fortune, so I figured partitioning would work instead. Also how the hex do I get the quick launch to use 16x16 icons instead of 32x32? I did it once... |

Me either. The old install was like that too. ...Well I'll be damned. The option shows up when the taskbar is unlocked. I imagine PM can change the lettering, but won't that break a lot of file references? |

Well, poo. What if I switched the drives themselves? (It's not really important but I like to have my system files on C:, it's sort of a standard.)

I don't think you can do it without the CD, but you might be able to just start installing from it, then take it out and point it to the hard drive when it asks for missing files, if that's possible.

Well of course I had to install it because a bunch of its files are somehow missing from the CD, and stuff doesn't work without them. So one huge download later, I open the installer... Oh, make that TWO huge downloads. Now I don't know where it got the idea that I wanted Media Player installed, or IE and Media Player icons in Quick Launch, but that's another rant. After downloading stuff, it comes up with a message that some file hasn't passed compatibility testing and won't be installed. (So what, M$ is admitting IE is unsafe?) After the installation is supposedly complete, it reboots the system with no warning whatsoever. (M$ just loves to do that don't they? At least Visual Studio - which also won't install for whatever reason - told me it was going to first. Not like I should have a choice or anything. ) I start it up, get a coupla error messages, and guess what. Besides Quick Launch icons I didn't want, everything is exactly the same. So, eh, ?

I did a loooooong time ago, but I still need the IE core for parts of Windoze, such as Visual Studio, to work. Also, I think it'd be awesome if the computer didn't freeze whenever I plugged in speakers, like I could before. (edited by HyperHacker on 12-30-04 08:59 PM) |

To answer all your questions: English is a stupid language, and the people who made this stuff up were far too into religion. I say we need to get some kinda good implimentation of metric time going. You can still go to church every 7 days or whatever the hell you want.

Haha, this is why I love Nintendo. The other day, (I dunno what to call the guy, he lives here but isn't related or married or anything) was trying to play a DVD on his PS2 and it simply wouldn't read anything. We had to bring out mine (not used very often ). My brother also has a friend who often brings his Xbox over. So manu times, I've been watching him play it and it would just freeze up randomly, or files would get erased, etc. Guess how many times, to date, My Gamecube has ever had a problem (besides controllers being crap)? ZERO. |

I could do it in VB easily, including the whole pointer thing, but I don't know how you would work that into your program. (Compile it as a DLL, perhaps?) Though really, if I'm going to be writing any emulators, I'd rather do it for GB. (I started one but couldn't get enough speed in VB and don't know enough C. ) |
