Nintendo's usually pretty good about repairs. If you send them the game they'll probably replace it cheap, or even free if they find out it's defective.

When you start it up, does it just start the usual boot sequence and come up with an error message, or does it go through the logo animation? If it won't even get past the logo, the disc's barcode is probably bad. (Look at the bottom, you'll see a ring that goes most of the way around near the hole in the middle - NOT the black barcode on the thin layer. This is what the Gamecube uses to verify the discs.) If it happens when it's trying to start, it's probably some other part of the disc. That might help you find the problem, if it's something minor. (If the barcode is scratched, AFAIK, it's hopeless, since that area isn't real data.)

Posted on 12-24-04 12:30 AM, in PSP :: It's Okay, You Can Touch This One Link
Of course PSX sold more games. PSX has more games.
The problem with PSP is that Sony has to design a disc-based system, with all of this stuff they promised such as MP3s and movies, into a very small case. They then have to make it durable, make the battery last a good while, and make it not slice peoples' heads off with flying discs (although that would be kinda cool, there are some legal issues), and they have to make up some sort of anti-piracy system which they seem to suck at. And the worst is that the final price has to rival that of Nintendo's which is just a game system (therefore no spending money on MP3 and DVD implementations), uses cartridges/cards (so no disc mechanism, better battery life, zero load time, smaller case, more durability, harder to pirate, and less decapitations), and has the awesome durability and low of any Nintendo product. So more than likely they're going to have to either have an especially high price, or use cheap parts.

[edit] There, moved some text around a bit. Looks good now, for me anyway. (Although it might be confusing if I end up with ranks that are people's names. Ahem, Iggy Koopa. )

Well it's a good thing I used @import then.

Not to mention the oh-so-fun moving text with hover (yes, I'm rediculously nitpicky about that, especially since if you tend to link in the middle of a block of text, like, say, this, it tends to make everything change positions and forces a redraw, taking up a lot of my time while I sit there and wait for my computer to refresh the fscking display)

Dude... You're telling me that when you hover on a link and it makes things move, you have to wait for your computer to redraw it? My god, what are you doing taking that poor thing online? Go give it a proper burial.
[edit] Also, when I hover on that link in the quote, only the rest of the line moves.

one of your layouts was even worse in this aspect by making links bolded on hover, making them move even more, especially if they're a lot longer.

Correction: The board's default settings were even worse in this aspect. I wanted to kill that, but didn't know how. I hate it too!

Odd, it works in your bio. However it's really not a good background for a layout, the text is hard to read on it.

[edit] I'm having a bit of a problem with the image-overlapping thing. It works great in your example, but in my case the amount I want to cut off varies. Since my shitty server went down again, I'lll use your images.

Works great. But say I want to cut off 80 pixels?

Bit of a problem! Really, I realized I could get this to work with fixed-width tables inside the table cells, but I can't seem to get them to show up beside text. Watch this:

Hey, text!

Now I dunno about you, but when I see that, the white spot is on a new line, rather than beside the text like it should be.

I think the reason this stuff is disabled is that not all servers support it very well. But hell, I'll do it anyway.

Is there any reason a computer would just randomly beep? I was just loading a page and the internal speaker beeped. No warning messages or anything. The only reason I can think of that it would do that is if it were overheating, but I already know this doesn't give any warning (just reboots).

Yes, mine is running quite slow at the moment, since I'm using Mozilla while Photoshop is open. (Not very easy on one's CPU, or RAM for that matter. ) Lotta lag involved.

Heh, you should have seen the weather yesterday, it was just horrible. Blinding snow, tires spinning everywhere... Several people came quite close to crashing and/or running me over. Especially interesting was the ice at the parking lot entrance. Someone was pulling out as another guy was pulling in... He hits the gas but he doesn't go anywhere. So now the other guy has to slam on the brakes, but continues sliding, and just narrowly manages to steer around him. Then I walked across the pavement there and slid down the whole way, almost falling twice. Come to think of it, that's where a lot of near accidents have happened.

As far as traditions, we have some sort of traditional dinner like ham or turkey (ham this year ), and leave the Christmas lights on all night.

Oh, and I made a special Christmas thing. *ahem* And a one, and a two...

Jingle bells, Jaken smells, Kouga laid an egg!
Naraku's dead from a sword to the head and Myouga ran away!
Jingle bells, Jaken smells, Kouga laid an egg!
Naraku's dead from a sword to the head and Myouga ran away!
Dashing through the snow,
On a giant flying cat,
Miroku just got slapped,
For acting like a brat!
We've got to find a jewel,
To blast demons away,
Then we can sit back and eat instant noodles all day!

Now SING. *Holds up chicken* Er, where'd this come from?

Online cheating is simply the worst video game-related thing ever. Everyone who does it needs to be impaled on stuff.

There's nothing like plugging in a GS and suddenly being able to walk through walls. Why? You never know what's behind one. Could there be a giant boss that wasn't supposed to be there, but you glitched in? An empty room left from debugging days? Hidden crap?

Wiping out a boss in one hit with the SuperDuperUltraMegaAttack of DOOOOOOOOOM is fun. I love it.

Sure, all very fun, but using it to beat the game for the first time just ruins it. There's no challenge to it.

I love having infinite ammo for a rocket launcher and blasting shit to bits. I love having infinite HP so I can run into deadly stuff and walk through enemies.

Yes, sometimes cheating does enhance the game. There are 3 times that I will cheat when I haven't beat the game:
-Really boring/hard game/level, or just one particular aspect of the game that sucks. (I often use infinite ammo in shooters myself. Blasting everything with machine guns is much more fun than kicking things and looking for bullets.)
-When a save file gets wiped out, I usually use cheats to get back to where it was as best as possible. Then I play normally after that.
-Horribly cheap AI, like in Mario Party.

FAQs and guides are like candy. Stuck? Just read one! Instant fun.

Yes, I always refer to a guide if I'm stuck and just can not figure it out. I don't, however, sit there reading the guide and doing exactly what it says the whole time, nor do I refer to them for every little thing. (Ono a gap too big to jump over, help me GameFAQs!)

Plus, who said cheats make games easier? What about hardmode cheats? Cheats that fuck up the game so bad as it becomes halariously unplayable (ala GOTOIO, SMB1)? Those bad too?

Yes, those are quite fun, and I often use them. For example, I always use the GS codes for Super Speed Mode in Mario 64 (makes the entire game run faster). Codes that make fun disco-like textures or other such things are also great. I love to play Mario Kart 64 with every character's max speed pumped up to 120, it's more fun and harder since the AI actually goes fast (especially if I also use the 'harder AI' code, which makes them all act like that one who just will not get off your ass). Making the characters really light is fun too, despite the fact that it makes the game practically impossible to play. I don't consider these cheat codes so much as enhancement codes. (Also, GOTOIO? You mistake your GG for a BASIC compiler? )

One other thing I should mention is that I don't consider built-in cheats to be as bad as AR/GS cheats, because the programmers intended for you to be able to do it. They let you win easier but there's still restrictions, like the fact that they get to choose what cheats you can actually use. As opposed to with a GS where you just reprogram the game and can do whatever you want, that's major cheating.
