Could just be sleepiness. You definetely don't want to take any chances with your eyes though, those are some very nice things to have... If it's not better after a good rest, see a doctor. Kiwi, you just need to rub some Ozonol on it. Same way as usual, but not as hard, and just leave it like that. |

But should it really start randomly using up to 80% of my CPU power when it's sitting in the background, not doing anything, with no files open? It just starts eating up CPU power and stops again. WTF is it doing? (It's CS, BTW.) (edited by HyperHacker on 12-23-04 11:11 AM) |

Holy crap, someone's actually doing it! I always thought you could do this but I didn't think anyone would. Anyway, there aren't a lot of Gamecube hackers here but I know a few places that do a lot of work with it: http://www.dextrose.com (not very active, but one of the best GCN-related boards) http://www.gscentral.com (not really a lot, but home of some of the best GCN hackers this side of the Internet) http://www.emutalk.net/index.php (emulation discussion site) As best I can answer some of your questions... 1) Dunno, but on N64 you had to use DMA to copy a status block to memory, which means they could be anywhere. But a program could easily do this, I assume. 2) Use the BBA. I think you can set it to 100Mbps, but you won't actually get that speed because the bus isn't fast enough. 3) Check out the PSO exploit, that's your best bet. Much like the loader program, you would want to upload a program into the game's memory which would send/recieve controller data from the BBA. 4) I'm not sure if you can emulate the controller ports or set the data. Worst-case scenario, you would have to find the address each game keeps their controller data at (not too hard), disable their controller routines and write your own. (Which means your loader program would need to have a list of games and the proper changes/addresses.) 5) The BIOS is encrypted, but some people have successfully replaced it with their own. There is a so-called 'mod chip' that does this, but it's rather deceptive - it DOES allow you to run your own code on the Gamecube (replacing the BIOS), but it doesn't allow you to copy discs or boot ISOs. (The copy protection is handled by the drive's firmware rather than the BIOS, and I don't think any progress has been made there. I know a bit about it if you need any info though.) Also, kudos if you can figure out how to get MK: |

[01:30:58] < [02:01:47] < Rofl. Gotta love this guy's furry logic though. Say, I want to make a full remake of Mario 64 in Windows with a level editor and powerup editors and stuff and I want to be able to run it on Gamecube too. Can someone help with that? I just need someone to write the code, design the graphics and level layout, write the editor, put it all together, compile it, and port it to Gamecube. Make sure it says I programmed it. |

Depends what system. In general, PAR is decent to crappy, Gameshark is crap, Game Genie is good but not very useful due to such a small codelist and lack of RAM patching ability, and I have no idea what the others are like. Also they're generally referred to as cheat devices. Hex editors are something else entirely. |

Yes, Knuck gets the idea. The game's master control-input routine sets the variable that says what buttons are pressed, you don't mess with that. What you need to do is find the code that says 'if the Y button is pressed, make Yoshi stick his tongue out', and make that code not look at the variable or ignore it, so that it always thinks you didn't press Y. Any other code that reads the Y button, such as 'if Y is pressed, make Mario shoot a fireball' would do so on its own, and would work fine. | |||

I'm currently working my way through Ruby (when on the can ), here's what I have at the moment: Castform -Thunderbolt -Shadow Ball -Rain Dance -Sunny Day I mainly use this guy for his weather-changing abilities, to tip the scales in my advantage. If need be, though, he can defend himself with Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball, two damn good moves. Pelipper: -Blizzard -Steel Wing -Shock Wave -Fly I generally try to balance out my types, having as many as possible for each Pok (edited by HyperHacker on 12-25-04 01:20 PM) |

I generally avoid cheating unless the difficulty level is getting to the point of no longer being any fun. What I usually do is play through the game with as little help as possible, then go back and use cheats to get the extras. Strategy guides I usually only use as a quick reference or to look up how to get secrets. I prefer to make my own strategies and such, it's more fun that way. If a level is particularly frustrating I will use cheats to get by it, though. I also like to hack GS/AR codes, not so much to cheat with as just for the fun of making them. (Hence why I often make codes that aren't especially useful for cheating. ) Also once I've finished a game it's often fun to just throw on an assload of cheats and plow through it again as fast as possible. My brother on the other hand, he just cheats at everything whenever possible. I hate that. |
